yeah, probably should have seen some yellow on that screen.

They actually have backed off calling that since NU went to the Big 10 about 8 times they were called for it on plays like that against Purdue. The head of officials said that none of the 8 should have been called. Ever since then throughout the league they have been more lax on that call. It’s a call that very much depends on what crew you get.
I think the B1G is generally pretty lax on calling holding in general. Whether on a screen like that, or simple pass pro or run blocking. Naturally more lax with the blue bloods.

>McNulty and Ash talk about how they need Pacheco and Blackshear on the field together
>Took until 6 minutes left in the 2nd quarter for both to be on the field together

That MSU drive was definitely helped out on that PI call on RU. That was a complete, fly ridden, steaming pile of horse manure. The pass was behind the receiver to begin with. The Spartan receiver wasn't going to catch it anyway. We simply got jobbed on that sucker.
The flag came from behind the play. No view of what actually happened from behind, the camera facing the play showed it to be a clean play. Back judged assumed the penalty.

Missed holding calls are fairly common site to Rutgers fans. Gotta be at least 4 bad/missed calls against us so far. Important ones too. This happens in all Big Ten games.. did the Huskers go through this also? Is it an initiation rite? Even teams with huge leads get helped by the refs.. it is disgusting.
They don't call holding in the B1G unless it is you playing tOSU, MI or WI. A couple of our games ago they put up a graphic (on BTN no less) that in all the passing downs against us in the last 2.5 years, the other team was not called for holding. Things seem to have eased up since then both in terms of us getting called and us benefiting from one or two per game, so maybe we have finally paid our dues.

Difference so far between MSU this week and last week vs NU is the receivers aren’t dropping as many balls. The weather is considerably better today right now but they had trouble hanging onto the ball.

Oh my God why didn't the coaches teach the players not to touch the ball on a punt when you have no intention of catching it. Fire everybody, just kidding. Bad players make bad plays which loses games.
