I thought he got a bump to stay a Georgia. Maybe more highly regarded as a recruiter than coach. Doubt he would have a real interest in coming here.
Why not on coming here? He would have free rein in play calling. That may have been his hang up with Texas A&M.
On coaching, I see the reviews on his play calling were not all positive when he was calling plays under Al Golden at Miami.
I think if he wants to move he will have other options based solely on his recruiting abilities.
No no noI would love to have Butch Jones. Great recruiter and solid offensive coach.
I've brought him up in the past as eh. Golden switched to a spread an uptempo spread somewhere during his Miami tenure and Coley ran it. The results were eh/mediocre considering the talent. Not a fan.@rutgersguy1 and @RUaMoose (as an Al Golden fan). How about James Coley, current WRs coach at Georgia? Was OC as FSU from 2010-12, but Jimbo Fisher did the play calling. Then he was hired by Al Golden at Miami and was there from 2013-15.

He has been referred to as an ace recruiter of South Florida talent.

Coley is a Miami native who has worked with the Dolphins and was offensive coordinator at Florida International, and he's widely considered among the best recruiters of high school talent in South Florida. His loss to both an in-state and conference rival could have lasting implications on the recruiting trail.
Jimbo Fisher offered him the OC job at A&M, but he turned it down, perhaps because Jimbo likes to do the play calling?

Coley has been paid $450,000 a year his past two years at UGA.

One area Godwin said Coley has been instrumental is with making the connection between the quarterback and receivers. Having previously been an offensive coordinator at Miami, Godwin said Coley helped the wideouts better understand what the quarterback wants them to do on a given play.
And Coley's communication methods in doing so can be intense. On any given practice, Coley can audibly get after his players, with his shrieking voice heard on the opposite side of the field.
Kendal Briles?I've brought him up in the past as eh. Golden switched to a spread an uptempo spread somewhere during his Miami tenure and Coley ran it. The results were eh/mediocre considering the talent. Not a fan.
He's at UGA now too which is a pro style offense.
I don't know about recruiting and if you say he's a good recruiter that's fine but personally I'm not putting as much emphasis on that as opposed to coaching acumen which I'm more interested in.
I've already thought of him and didn't bring him up because he had some controversial recruiting tactics at Baylor. There was even a little controversy when Kiffin hired him at FAU. Can you imagine what would happen up here. Taking that away I think he'd be a good OC but you have to look at everything that comes along including baggage.Kendal Briles?
FAU put up some pretty good numbers. He was OC at Baylor before the poop hit the fan.

In this kind of environment with sexual assault and harassment in the forefront Art likely is going to have a hard time getting an OC job forget about HC. With Kendal though you'd likely get Art in the background advising and they've admitted as much I believe as far advice etc...How about Art Briles and/or Kendal Briles? Art won’t be HC, so no need to worry about those responsibilities.
Watch what happens to recruiting at RU if that happens.

I don't think his salary is 1M. He makes 450K. He got a 150K retention bonus in March of this year but that's about it. Unless he's gotten a salary bump he's not near a million and even if he got a bump it's not likely to be that high either.Coley would be a great hire but he is treated like royalty in Athens and his salary is close to 1 million.
Two possible solutions, if it's Mazzone offer his son the 10th position and you might keep him around for longer.I'm most concerned about attracting a offensive coordinator that will stay more than 1 year. The lack of continuity on offense needs to stop .The problem, of course , is finding the right person at the salary Rutgers is offering.

Well it has to be at least in the 650K range where Kill's salary was but I don't think it's a stretch to push that up slightly to 800K for the right person. What salary is RU offering?

Really? I didn't know that, got a link by chance. I thought he was in that 600-650K range with 25K annual increases for the length of his contract.IIRC Kill was set to get $200k increases this and next year...... so $850k s/b starting point.... IMO

No problem I would've been happier if you were right lol. It would've brought more certainty that we definitely would be upping the OC salary. We still could but we don't know for sure.ur right...i'm completely wrong.........

3-4 years would be nice but I see that as a bonus, I don't need it as a requirement. I do want 2 years though, get the ball rolling and then hopefully it will continue downhill from there. How long will Butch Jones be an OC ....here?
We need a HR...someone who can JUICE our Offense / RECRUIT like a Motha- but also invest 3-4 years HERE!
MO
Was not Kyle Flood an co -oc way back when. We could bring him back and he works cheap. What could possible go wrong. But in all seriousness, I agree we need some stability and continuity at the position.I'm most concerned about attracting a offensive coordinator that will stay more than 1 year. The lack of continuity on offense needs to stop .The problem, of course , is finding the right person at the salary Rutgers is offering.
