I've never understood the duality of this and I don't think I ever will. You are allowed to say anything you want to player and they just have to take it? Freaking cowards in the stands would never say anything to these guys on the streets ever. Anybody see the little kid punch Westbrook a week or two ago? A 10 year old who is rich enough to sit on the court and just thinks he can punch a player he doesn't like? What kind of spoiled piece of trash will that kid grow up to be? Westbrook should be allowed to beat the **** out of the kid and parents. By the way I'm not a Russ fan at all. I think he is a selfish player with a broke *** j, who I'd never want on my team, but that doesn't mean you can treat him bad. Imagine walking into Apple or Amazon and finding the CEO, CFO, VP, etc... and being like suck a dick ******. Go to f'ing hell you no good piece of sh** MF'er. I mean you couldn't even get through security to even start to say those things to other people at different jobs.

Situation reminds of other cowards I hate. Big game hunters. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a video of somebody who'd never ever think to go hunt a tiger or lion in the wild but they pay 100k to have someone else injure the animal then bait it out with a carcass and kill it like they're some kind of hero. Well every so often those videos go wrong and the hunter gets mauled to death and I couldn't love something more. I only wish athletes or celebrities or anyone that gets hassled by idiots could just knock the people out.

listen to the classic, classic, refrain of the Youngbloodz

And here we have the kind of people who value an animals life over a humans. When the lion, tiger, etc. goes rogue and attacks a village killing children everyone’s fine when it’s killed but when a hunter acts before that happens the hunter is attacked. And the kid was standing up and Westbrook pretty much fell back into him and he raised his hand up, then Russ questions the fathers parenting in post game interviews. He’s a sensitive baby who can’t control his anger.

Says the guy that don’t know me. Has no clue who I am or what I’m about
Dude, I'm not here to defend what Westbrook says or wears... but to imply anonymously online you could beat up an NBA pg, considered a freak athlete by any measurement that pretty much plays basketball and lifts weights all day, everyday is ridiculous. But I'm sure you're an accomplished MMA watcher.

White supremacist political football.

That's all this really is. That's the only reason it got brought up on this board, and it's the reason some of the usual suspects are chiming in to tell us how bad Russ is.

So go ahead and carry that ball as far as you can. I mean, you just snuck in a comparison of Westbrook to an animal, so keep up the good work.

Seeing the fans twitter account, which is now deleted. He's a total POS. Tons of racial and homophobic rants. Fans can't just yell personal attacks at player with impunity. I'm fine with Westbrook clapping back. That fan deserved it. His interview after the game was 100% disingenuous. All ya'll just jumping on Westbrook don't know what was said. Everyone is just overreacting.

The problem is most people communicate with a key pad or key board........it shields people from getting punched in the face for being an unnecessary ***. The lack of face to face communications is hurting society....... when they do have face to face confrontations they think they can still use their keyboard warrior speak........there are some people that don't take to well to being talked to like that.............which leads to situations like we see here....

Honestly, I’m not a small guy. And I’m not scared of anyone, even a guy like Westbrook who would break me down pretty fast probably. But if we were outside that arena and he told my girl he was gonna F her up, you better believe he’d get 240 lbs of my *** thrown straight at him. And he’d have to prove that he’s not just an overgrown crybaby.

And I’d lose, but I’d take an eyeball.

Or try to.

Btw I’m still waiting for the outrage about a grown, rich, powerful man telling a woman who said nothing to him “I’ll F you up”. They’re being quiet lololol. Fakes.

They don’t care about what they claim to care about. It’s all for points. This is the kind of stuff that proves it.

It's interesting that Westbrook is "soft" for handling this problem the way so many of you tough guys would claim to handle it if it happened to you. If he had told security or an official, people would be piling on that he's sensitive and couldn't take care of himself.

It's also interesting that there's apparently an unwritten understanding that you have to take verbal abuse because you're an NBA player and you know that going in, but there's suddenly no expectation in our society that someone might yell back at you if you start berating them.

It's pretty transparent, but the reasonable folks already see it and the others could never possibly have their mind changed, so I'm not shouting into the abyss.

Sorry, but hes soft. Are we to believe ppl only pick on poor Russell? You don't think lebron, cousins, etc get sh!% from fans. Only Westbrook is the fragile one that knows hes protected on the court

The level of criticism that LeBron gets is second to none to any athlete that has ever walked this Earth. The guy goes to eat a cheeseburger and it's a big story on every media outlet.

However much you intended it or not, it very much does have to do with Westbrook, since he's the topic of discussion here.

Either him specifically, or athletes in general, seeing as how the OP you were quoting was talking about fans treating players like animals, and then not expecting the animals to strike back. You then chose to talk about how dangerous the animals are.

Explicitly or implicitly, it's there, and it's very revealing.

What? The post from the post I quoted. Read it. He talks about big game hunters. Use that head a little. Big game hunters. This was what I was referring to. If you had read the entire post I quoted you would know that.

Because you’re wrong.

Yes, they understand ahead of time this is going to happen. Cal prepares players for this very thing. Our guys have had to deal with REAL situations, like fans becoming violent at an event. Cal pulled the plug, players didn’t respond, and we moved on.

Westbrook is a cry baby. NBA players are miserable.

If it happened to me, that means I’m worth hundreds of millions of dollars because people care enough to show up and tell me I suck d*ck. Oh my, how will I sleep.

The real story here, is that a grown rich powerful athletic man told a defenseless woman that he was going to F her up. That’s the only story worth reporting because it also points to how he probably treats women behind closed doors. Imagine a white guy in a wife beater saying that to a woman in a restaurant beside you. Take the color and status away, you’ll assume he beats women. But he pulled his race out there for protection. And it’s working. He’s not stupid.

I’ve never seen the wealthy handled with kid gloves the way professional athletes are handled. It’s very bizarre, but it comes down to race. If Westbrook was white, the outrage of his actions would be amplified. And I truly believe that, if a white player had said he was going to beat a woman’s ***, the media would pounce on that. They’re scared to because of the twitter bots and media, because Westbrook is black.

This is all leading to nowhere. I wish people would start seeing the damage all of this is doing.

Modern day Ron artest

Dumbest post in the thread. And that is a major accomplishment. So if you are walking down the street, and say you have a brace on your knee as you are walking. Someone comes up to you and says "get on your knees, like you are used to." are you just going to stand there and remain silent ? It does not matter on GD bit if it is a NBA arena or a city street, he is a human first, rich NBA athlete second. His career should never suggest he should take verbal abuse because he gets paid millions of dollars. Show me one thing he has done that compares to Ron Artest.

That was far from verbal abuse. It was grade school level. In my profession, people said far worse to me. I didn't physically threaten their wife. Because I'm an adult that doesn't have severe anger issues

As far as the hunting topic goes, I like a challenge. I hunt deer where I’m from in areas remote and even though I rarely kill anything worth mounting, I like the chase. I like being where no one goes, and trying to find some crazy deer with an antler sticking out of its a**.

Guys who prefer to have them killed for them can do what they want but it’s not my style. It’s actually not the style of most people that hunt. But if they want to, guess what?

It’s a f’n animal. As long as it’s controlled it is what it is.

**This is me, pouring tigers blood all over the thread to see the boys who back billion dollar athletes cry and moan even more!!!!!

Maybe his reaction to what the fan apparently said struck a deep nerve? That kind of back and forth has existed on basketball courts, football fields, work place, etc. for decades and I’ve never seen anyone react to it that way.

Yeah.

He's defending Westbrook, explicitly saying that athletes AREN'T animals, and that he's happy when they strike back at people who treat them as such.

You're talking about how dangerous animals are, and defending hunters. In the context of a conversation about Russell Westbrook threatening to kick a fans' ***. But no, there's no comparison.

Get a clue.

I’m right there with ya. Hunting is my life and passion but I’m fair chase everything. Not a fan of high fence hunters, heck I’m not even a fan of the exotic hunters in Africa but I’m not going to judge them. Us hunters get enough from peta and animal rights activists, the last thing we need to do is start going after each other.

Oh and now I see he's claiming a "racial jab" also. Of course. But neither he nor his teammates mentioned that till there was blowback
Two teammates said it was “family” directed. A lot more on the fan came out this morning... he sounds like a turd; that probably crossed the line.
Never would I thought I would defend Westbrook... I’ve snapped like over words... but I had my “fan” thrown in segregation (the hole) for two days

What about certain presidents? They’re called far worse names and lied about, families attacked, character assasinated, but If one of them threatened to beat a woman’s ***? We’d be calling for impeachment. Not understanding them because someone said mean words.

The only reason Wesbrook’s Comments toward a woman are being overlooked is because he’s a black athlete in America 2019. That’s why Westbrook went to race. Smart guy. Some of you can try to hide from this fact, but you know deep down what the issue is.

I wouldn’t believe a word that came from his teammates. Athletes have a code they go by. They will lie for each other in any situation.

I don’t care what the guy said really. Westbrook has a history of thin skin and he needs to suck it up buttercup.

Money does come from TV but you’re crazy if you think it wouldn’t bring down salaries if they played in an empty gym.

Also if tickets aren’t being sold I would expect a lot of games to be blacked out nationally

I'm talking about the general fan/player interaction and the "you make a lot of money so shut up and deal with it" attitude.

They aren't paid well to listen to verbal abuse, they're paid well because they have a marketable talent that puts them in the top .000001% of the world.

Pat is pretty beloved around here. Interested to see if the same people that disagree with me will say they disagree with Pat?

I disagree with him. Doesn't change that I like and respect him.

I don't begrudge a player for dropping a witty retort on the fan.

Saying he's gonna beat them up in response to a non-violent comment? That's childish, and it's especially stupid coming from someone who makes as much in a month as most Americans will make in a lifetime.
