Pete Bell?

You think he'd put a red sweater on for the press conference if Rutgers was hiring him.

We got turned down by the Hurleys. But there are other winning coaches out there who will want to come to RU with facility commitments in place.

I feel that this may be a breath of fresh air for RU BB. No reason to curl up into the fetal position. Act like a man !
Are you sure "he" is one to begin with? LOL

Mike/Upstream-you can see I am a SHU guy, I don't have any insights into RU Athletics, this was told to me by someone very well connected to basketball and I trust, frankly he hasn't been wrong. I heard by the end of this week there will be an announcement.

OK...not denying you were told something..and it seems like you're impressed by what you were told.

I'd think if his name was floating out there in the basketball world, it would be leaked..or at least rumored.

We shall see.

Hurley was one of the better candidates for the RU job because the ones that are best won't consider coming to RU
Danny's name made him seem like the best of the rest, his coaching didn't stand him apart.
Danny Hurley knows his limitations and that's why he withdrew, now can use the interest RU had in him for his own advantage and have some media types give him good PR for withdrawing his name.

In a world that goes by how you look instead of how you really are, Danny is looking like a good coach that cares for his players, when it's really about his coaching future.
He knew the job demanded more than he might be able to do and didn't want to gamble his coaching career by taking on the task of making the RU MBB program a winner.
It's a smart move for someone that doesn't like gambling , knowing a better shot will be available in the future because you are at a program that is doing pretty good and looks like it might do even better.

Danny don't take over programs that need a lot of fixing, he takes over programs that are down, but were fairly good a short time before.

I'm not questioning your accuracy in repeating what your source told you, but unless you are a Seton Hall guy with connections to Hobbs, I'm not sure that your source is in the know. Like the football hire, Hobbs is playing this pretty close to the vest, with only a few people in his confidential circle.

While it is possible that your source does have accurate information, most people who fall into the category of someone "well connected to basketball" would not be part of Hobbs' confidential circle. So they would probably just be providing their own conjecture, and not real information. (Unless their basketball connection is a connection to the coach being hired.)

In Hobbs I Trust

(sorry guys, just going to keep saying this :) )
Like that statement more than the ones that imply a decision has been made and how we'll love the choice, but don't say who.:chairshot:

My source says it will happen eventually if not sooner and we'll all be pleasantly surprised who takes the job.:cool2:
That is : except for those who don't :boxing:

I'll believe this guy before any of the press morons that were pushing Hurley and are making people believe that Williams is a legit candidate.

For what's it worth, my friend that is a follower on the SHU boards, vouches for @Hallisthebest as being a legitimately connected poster and not someone that would be viewed as a troll to wind people up.

So, I'm becoming optimistic.

So the Seton Hall and UNC fans know who the next RU coach is before RU fans? I am not buying it.

Sports Illustrated knows announcements before the local press/fans do.....so, it's POSSIBLE.....agree, would seem unlikely though.

bravo to Rutgers for not messing this one up...your better off without Hurley.
"It is the best of times and it is the worst of times", GREAT no Hurley :pray:Thank you
But it is not from the top 65 teams in the nation. For it to be one of them we would have had to wait till the NCAA are over or the team loses.
I am still praying for a coach that rhymes with Calamari :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
Hope you are connected Hall

Gotta believe Johnny Dawkins is now in play, given his experience and ties to Coach K..The mention of bringing Billet back as an assistant is a tip off..

You can also see its a longtime poster on both boards. And to think its not even April 1st!

In the Bizarro World that is RU Sports forums......fans of other teams that come with veiled "Great News" or "Good Job by RU" are considered trolls while RU Fans jumping to "Sky is Falling" conclusions based on veiled media tidbits are considered upstanding posters.
Ain't that the truth.

Francesca endorsed Cluess for the job today when a caller asked...may be best thing for RU exposure as Mike js buddy buddy with Cluess
