This. If a "defender" is just sliding into place underneath an offensive player, that isn't defense and should never be rewarded (forget the dumb semi-circle, this should apply everywhere on the court). If you're playing tight defense and get elbowed, sure. But the maneuvers to specifically "draw a charge" are complete ********.
that happened to reeves on his drive, the walker kid just slide underneath him while he was in the air

Unlimited if we are talking about fouling out of the game. If you want to give them 2 free throws and ball on the 6th foul fine. Only way you should be out of a game is for fighting or a deliberate foul that hurts a player.
Thats where I thought you were going but don’t see this ever being implemented.

How is that complicated? If you beat the first line of defense, a guy can't just stand there and take a charge.
I agree with you but there are still cases where I could potentially see a secondary defender entitled to position and not getting shouldered to the ground. Unfortunately it will always be a judgement call.

I just think there needs to be more reinforcement of "making a genuine defensive play" rather than undercutting someone with your hands clasped in nads-protect mode. That's what I want to eliminate.

When a player is in the air and intentionally throws ball at a player to avoid possession loss. 1. player himself is over line. 2 BB is only major sport where it is legal to throw ball or or object at opponent. Example: if Jort’s ball had planted Spaulding on Sullungers nose instead of his chest in NcAA Regional the rule would have already been changed.

Do away with the 3 second call
8 fouls
14 second shot clock
I dislike the short shot clock imo.

I understand that they think they are trying to increase pace and create more possessions but it results in a lot of 1-2 pass offenses and 1v1. It kills actual good offense.

For example, it hurts a team like Bellarmine or anyone running Princeton offense where your offense is predicated on a ton of motion/cuts/screens and passing until the defense breaks down and you exploit it

Making the shot lock less than 25 essentially let’s the defense off the hook and emphasizes “go beat your man”

The NBA is an entertainment league and they want more possessions of their stars making great individual plays. But a 15 sec shot clock takes a lot of actual basketball strategic options off the table

Not so much of a rule change , when's the last time you saw a player who gets his shot off before charging and the basket was counted . Officials would credit the field goal and charging foul called on the offense.

Also , kicking the ball should only be call if the player intentionally kicks the ball

In the Michigan State game Reeves hit a floater and one of their players slid under him as he was landing and they called a charge. I thought that was an automatic block call?

The easy answer to this imo is that only the primary defender can draw a charge. A secondary defender after you beat your man cannot.
There's a big unintended consequence here. If I drive from the top of the key and beat my man but the opponent's center was already between me and the basket, he now has to move out of my way, or else I can run into him and get a block? I'd much prefer a rewrite/clarification of the rule as written.

And rule as written, the defender must be in legal guarding position (two feet on the floor and torso facing the guarded player) before the guarded player leaves the court. So by rule your torso can be sliding sideways, but you have to have your feet in the spot and torso facing the player before he jumps. As officiated, you can jump under a player in the air.

The rule that UK basketball is to be ran like a G league team with even less discipline , I’d like that rule to change but it’s gonna take a new coach to make a new rule. Oh you mean NCAA rule. Ok

I dont know how to exactly fix officiating in a fast-paced sport.. but thats what I want fixed, somehow, someway. OOB call shouldn't take much more than 15 seconds to see. Improve on coaching reviews. Add a 4th ref who is positioned to see a play better.

I'd also like it to be 6 fouls and you're out, instead of 5. No other sport takes players out of the game unless they do something egregious. The fans pay to see their team, and to see the best product the team can put on the floor, not to see Oscar sitting on the bench in crunch time.

And while the NBA technically offers the same fouls per minute, it's just much harder to for a player to commit 6 fouls in a 48 min game, than 5 in a 40min game.

One change I’d like to see is that timeouts can only be called during a dead-ball. Very few sports can a timeout be called while ball is in play, but for some reason it’s allowed in basketball.

This will force the players to take more chances when pressured and it will also cut down on coaches stopping play to set up last second shots. Instead the players will need to make decisions on the fly more often.

I think overall while it does take away an option, it will improve the flow of the game and encourage players to make more decisions on the court, making it more exciting overall.

Because players should determine the game outcome not Rooferee's.
Wrong. Players would just foil more because they could. Games would be more like Big 10 FT contests.
Players determine the games now. But if a rooferee wants to change that, 5 fouls or 15 fouls he can still do that.
