Didn’t they already bail us out by inviting us? I’m more concerned the large schools create their own conference outside of the NCAA. College sports would officially be over.
I know a lot of people including media are thinking that could happen but I’m skeptical. I’ll have to see it to believe it.

Everything lately has pointed in the direction of more opportunity and inclusion not less.

Part of the reason for that is the worry about government interference. Can you imagine what state and federal government would think or do if a large swath of states and major schools of these states were left out. IMO that threat is what would hold things at bay.

They would not be left out…they would just have their own championship…big ten and sec schools in say Texas or Michigan or NJ or Ohio have no allegiance or obligation to give a 💩 regarding how schools in Kansas or New England are affected.

They could have done that now or any time even when they created the 12 team playoff. G5 schools, let alone P4 schools got access to the BCS bowls, they got access to the 4 team playoff and now 12 team playoff and will still have it in a 24 team playoff.

I can’t speak to where the G6 end up but for P4 schools I don’t see anything changing. All signs over the last couple decades have been for more inclusion and opportunity not less. Some of the reason is the government. Admins past and present in these conferences like Sankey and Bowlsby etc have said as much.

sure, that could happen but money drives the bus
we just escaped a PE deal that would have relegated us to 100mm where half the conference was at 150mm or more. If you don't think we better get our act together, and soon, we're going to be playing Uconn in the new ACC that's gonna look like the MAC.

changes are coming, we are not prepared until the administration, and Greg Schiano, start treating the school and it's athletics like a brand.

PE involvement in college sports at the team level or conference level can and is happening to a degree. That kind of thing is plausible and real.

A massive realignment where 30-40 teams go off and do their own thing I think is less realistic imo and the biggest roadblock imo is worry over government interference.

Just look at that save college sports act. Part of it tries to freeze realignment to some degree…B10 only up to 19 teams (ND) and others up to 18 etc…a 30-40 team breakaway is amplitudes more shocking than that.

my views and 'belief' on this are well documented here

the point to my post was that our brand is so tainted that despite the massive revenue we've generated for the BIG, no brand management means we're viewed as the uncle no one wants at the family dinner pic but you have to include him

We should get our act together regardless of whether you think it will happen or not. So much unexploited potential and that's been the case for decades.

Keep trying and get out of this insular RU bubble and try different things and maybe something might work with some diligence and luck.
