Clearly, he should have been given a shot considering we had nowhere to go but up.Honestly as awful as Allen and Laviono were last year, I don't think Rettig could've been much worse.

Yes and no. Your point that our offenses are somewhat similar is true but the disparity in talent (on the field) would make you feel as if you're running two different offenses. Bolin will call plays and expect players to be in specific areas on the field, when that doesn't happen he will be in no man's land and in my opinion fail. Gio is conditioned and programmed with the current talent on hand making him the natural front runner. Bolin practiced with a team that almost beat Clemson, which makes looking good much much easier. Let's see how good he looks when he zips a pass to a WR in double coverage instead of a Louisville WR who has 3-4 yards of separation. Get my point. From Todderick today:
How similar is Louisville's offense to Rutgers'?
"It's actually very similar to what we do at the University of Louisville. The concepts are very similar, the terminology is very similar, which I was excited about because sometimes coaches do a lot of different things. And sometimes it can be hard to unlearn what you learned previously, and then learn what you are about to run next year. So the fact that it's so similar is going to make the transition process a lot easier."
Except the WRs and starting TE are all different than last year.Yes and no. I agree that all 3 will play especially if Lewis is as good as we have been led to believe. Ash has to set us up for a breakout year in 2018.
I have a feeling that its going to be similar to how Louisville did with Bolin and Jackson in 2015. Go back and watch that goal line TD by Louisville and you'll see what kind of QB your getting. 32:28
IRRELEVANT..unless u put Bolin under center with our Offense last year! only common sense!I really like Bolin. He's played in big games before. Good QB.

That's the way you see it. But, as usual, it is not that way.speaking of QB,s current recruiting status for next QB is alot of swings and misses. Last two targets in 8 days both verbaled to BC..
Unless Lewis is hands down better than Bolin or Gio, he should red shirt. Burning his red shirt to have him do that stupid stuff Oden did last year is useless.
current QB offer to Cali kid is #5 as comitable offer ,and kids first power five offer..That's the way you see it. But, as usual, it is not that way.
You need to have a better idea of who RU is making a priority before going off on "alot of swings and misses."current QB offer to Cali kid is #5 as comitable offer ,and kids first power five offer..
Bolen is here for 1 year. Why is this even a question and why is it than even after receiving good news people need to dig for a negative spin?
He is better.
I would call going after #5 on QB chart is alot of swings and misses..and current target had zero power five offers till RU .You need to have a better idea of who RU is making a priority before going off on "alot of swings and misses."

I'm sorry, but I disagree. Fans are going to have to be patient for better on field results before there is a slew of commits. Not really really concerned, but the constant drumbeat of "the sky is falling" from this guy is annoying.I'm sorry but he's right. We've had a bunch of swing and misses so far. Take your scarlet glasses off

So now "we're offering every qb out there"? How many QBs is every QB out there? Hyperbole much?I don't see any sky is falling posts. your first post was spinning us not missing on priority guys. mReality is we're offering every qb out there and a bunch of priority qbs already rejected us. Not sure why you're trying to spin it

There are several posters here, some who are probably not even RU fans, who seem to spin every tidbit of information into a narrative that "we are doomed" and "worst possible scenario."
As noted above, the reality of the situation is we are coming off a horrific year on the field. There is no spinning that. My nature is to not cry over spilled milk and wring my hands over recruiting results in May. We all know decommits will happen. If BC craps the bed on the field, they will have decommits. If RU can show improvement on the field, we may be able to flip some recruits we missed on.
Let me say it again--RU's recruiting success this year is going to be directly tied to showing improvement on the field. We should not be expecting much in the way of commits before the season starts.
2016- Flood error.2016- 8 QBs offered
2017-12 QBs offered
2018-16 QBs offered through start of May
No. I GUARANTEED 8, and I upped my total when we added Bolin.Didn't you guarantee six wins next year. Now you're saying we have to be patient for better results?
No. I GUARANTEED 8, and I upped my total when we added Bolin.
Still have to be patient for the season to start.
are you really Rutgers Al? eight wins?? what? No. I GUARANTEED 8, and I upped my total when we added Bolin.

There's no way you're serious.

The constant drumbeat of whining in tiresome IMO. It has been stated ad nauseum why recruits are not signing right now. Yet a couple of posters keep pounding the drum. Some people love dwelling on the negative. You posted these two things. This is a lot of BS. This is what got me posting. Sitkowski,Valecce, Langan, Re-Al Mitchell, Devin Leary. All guys Rutgers wanted. All guys who rejected Rutgers. Ask the mods. They were not told they didn't have a committable offer. Rutgers would've GLADLY taken them
Yes hyperbole. Sorry about that but we have been offering more than usual as posted by someone earlier.
I agree with this post. The results from last year and uncertainty from this year are what are holding recruits back. This has nothing to do with your original posts of "That's the way you see it. But, as usual, it is not that way" "You need to have a better idea of who RU is making a priority before going off on "alot of swings and misses." Those posts sound like spinning since we have CLEARLY missed on priority recruits. It looks like it'll be a down year right now but if we get to a bowl game or at least show fight against top schools, we can see a change. Possibly have some top recruits truly consider us
