Interesting he noted Cliff as the PF and Dean as the Center...

OmoruTHREE and THREEIBER
He also didn’t note who impressed as a 3rd string center option.

The over/under for minutes on the season where both are on the court together is 39.5 and I am taking the under

If I was a gambler that sounds like easy money on the over!

I wonder what’s going on with Papa. I thought he was expected to announce something shortly after returning from his trip home.

I am bullish on Mag and think Cliff needs to keep minutes around 28.

is Reiber good enough to take minutes away from Mag/Hyatt?

It's easy to forget that before Doucoure got hurt, Coach P was playing/experimenting with Cliff and Myles together on the floor in '19-'20. Jim Calhoun often played two bigs together at UConn: Boone/Okafor, Boone/Hilton Armstrong, Drummond/Oriakhi, etc.etc. And Pike is a Calhoun disciple.

I like Mag too, but not sure he and Hyatt are giving 40 minutes (combined) at the "4" in this league. I think there is a chance we see Rieber/Cliff playing together 5-10 minutes a night. Just an opinion, I most certainly could be wrong.

Honestly does it even matter?

I’m assuming both would have the capability to stretch the floor a bit with an outside J?
Maybe I’m thinking too old School. But I imagine the four would get more jump shots and (pump fakes and) drives to the hoop.

In a Rieber/Cliff lineup Cliff will be guarding the opposing Center with Rieber guarding the opposing "4". I can pretty much guarantee it.
I’d Cliff would be more equipped to guard the 4. Let’s also remember most teams are going to have a 6’ 6’’ guy playing the 4 that can penetrate. This isn’t 1998.

I am concerned about Mag and Hyatt eating 40 minutes. I actually think Caleb plays more 4 than Dean.

More importantly Cugine, Mush and Lil "Mo" Mozzarella were at practice.

I side with this logic for on ball defense. Cliff has better lateral movement and athleticism to guard a 4 but drawing him away from the rim hurts rim protection and rebounding so it's a toss up

We really could use Simpson to be an immediate impact player. That type of athleticism is missing from the backcourt otherwise

He will definitely be a factor in transition when he gets his minutes. I could see him getting 14-18 minutes.

Him and Paul's different tiempos will be helpful for the team.

Caleb more 4 than Dean?! Wow. Could not be more wrong.
No one is wrong in the preseason. So many questions…

There are 160 non center minutes. Who plays the 4th perimeter slot will be dependent on how many players deserve and need to be on the court. If Simpson is ready, Spencer is the real deal, Mag comes in to his own, Hyatt improves, and everyone is healthy Dean will have to improve significantly to see any minutes at the 4.

I'd take the over if for no other reason than they'll try it for longer than that in all the cupcake early season games. If you want to go 39.5 total in Big Ten games, that's another story.

Disagree. Strongly. In a lineup where Cliff and Rieber are on the floor together I'd bet real $$$ Cliff, not Rieber, is guarding Trayce Jackson-Davis or Hunter Dickinson or Zed Key (for example).

We aren’t betting real $!!!!! So who does Dean guard?

that’s why we aren’t seeing Dean and Cliff together.
