Who are the ‘damn good’ teams and where is the proof of them being ‘damn good’?

Ohio state football & marketing budget is the only thing separating the B1G from the MAC, much less our Power conference ‘peers’.

also - maybe google ‘analogy’. I don’t see one in the post you replied to.

9 Big10 teams made the NCAA basketball tourney this year.

The B10 has more invites to the College Football Playoff than any other conference than the SEC.

Make an argument for the ACC, Big 12, or Pac 12 being better.

B12 is better than B1G in basketball by virtually every metric…and has been for awhile.

Both Michigan State and Michigan were thoroughly whipped when they made it in the playoffs and may I remind you Nebraska beat MSU in the regular season that year and Sparty could not even score in the playoffs.

all of those things are due to one thing and one thing only:

media dollars. the B1G is elite in one thing - exploiting the bejeezus out of its beloved major media markets to create maximum exposure to its brands, mediocre as they may be. FOX & Disney have ponied up major cash for B1G rights - they are required to ensure as many eyeballs land on their networks as possible, despite the quality of play on the court/field.

who makes the pre-season rankings where B1G teams are always 5-10% too high? the AP! those rankings are then taken as gospel in metrics like SoS/RPI, thus the B1G gets more bites at the apple than the 3 (4 in hoops) other non-SEC P5 conferences.

this exposure creates a perception that is different from reality (B1G teams are good despite essentially NEVER winning when it matters).

sure, a majority of B1G programs earned their spots. but that number is NOT 100% like it has to be for the ACC/XII/Pac12. therefore, when the B1G and its marginally deserving teams play absolutely deserving ones from other conferences, the B1G is completely overmatched save for three individual ohiost football teams.

people will call this a conspiracy. I call it good business - and it's the only thing the B1G does well.

I will add to the above that we will be a GIGANTIC benefactor of this if/when we can get our sh*t together enough to be in the mix.

I never pulled for any other team in the big 8 big 12 and I’m sure as hell not going to root for any big 10 team
I am just the opposite. This applies mostly to football, but I always like to see old Big 8 foes win as long as they are not playing the Huskers. Could care less for the four newbies that ruined the conference in 1996.
