what is out of touch is disney charging $400 a night for that crap bag room.
We were going to take 6 adults and 4 grandkids to Disney in July. We were going to stay 4 nights at Animal Kingdom, with park passes and the meal plan it was 16K. Probably next year when we go it will be 17K. Prices are out of control at these parks or any venue for that matter.

WTH? That is crazy. You could almost buy a new Corolla for that amount. ****, just take them to the Cinncinatti Zoo and Kings Island. Save yourself about $16,500.

When I was a kid, my dad - a blue collar guy with an hourly wage job -- could take me and my two brothers to watch the Cincinnati Royals five or six times a year. Oscar Robertson was a constant and we saw guys like Wilt, Bill Russell, Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, and so on. I don't know what it cost, but we were basically lower working class and it was still affordable.

I make pretty good money now. And I can only afford the $300 for two tickets for ordinary seats to see the Wizards play once a year -- twice at most -- for my son.

Actually, I suppose I could afford it more often but I'd feel like a chump spending that much repeatedly for something that honestly, I don't really enjoy that much. The product can often suck. Wall was out last year, Beal was injured. We saw the Wizards play the Knicks and Julius Randle was the only guy on both teams who didn't look like a G-League player. I get the feeling my son would enjoy a Maryland Big Ten game more, and we're going to start doing that more often and skip the NBA.

So yeah, I like Rondo okay. But whining about a $400 hotel room? Kiss my ***.
I pay $15 for Pacers bad seats (there really are no bad seats) about 20 times a year. It pays to not live in an area with so many big money people.

Also LOL at outrage culture.

Disney's Coronado Springs is Disney's low to mid tier option. its for poor people.

Coronado is a moderate option. They have value, moderate, and deluxe.

Those rooms are in the Gran Destino tower section of Coronado, which was built last year. It is the top of the line for Disney moderate accommodations.

I stayed there last Fall. It was nice. I would imagine that 99% of this board would agree if they visited in person.

You won’t find many poor people staying there. But it isn’t exactly built to cater to million dollar athletes.

I would compare it to a decent downtown Hilton. Something like the Conrad in Indy. Feels more like a convention/business trip hotel than a vacation hotel, if that makes sense.

Damn! Evidently Disney really can put a price on happiness.

So stay in the motel 6, why don't you? I can't help it if Cinderella doesn't tuck you in every night.

I don’t know Rondo but I know another UK player that does and he is a little different but I think a good guy at heart. He came from a very humble beginning and I know where his house is. He lives very modestly for the amount of money he makes and doesn’t spend it foolishly from what I perceive. I see him riding his bike with his kids all the time and he is friendly enough...I just don’t think he likes to be bothered and I can understand why he would be guarded. In my opinion he was just stating a fact that for $400 a night one should expect a bit more. I would expect more even though I’d be splitting a room that costs $400 a night with three other buddies at the SEC tournament.

Are you a Capitals fan too? I was there in person in their expansion season.

This may not go over well, but I’ll say it - this is vintage rondo.
He isn’t the easiest or most accommodating personality.
I agree. I DO NOT like rondo at ALL. after the joined the NBA I saw him in the St. Mathews mall. There were 3 younger kids there who were SO EXCITED to see him they walked up and asked politely( I was 6 feet away, heard it all) for his autograph. He started laughing and said “GET THE FU...K away from me you little punks, I don’t have time for bull sh...”
Right then I would never like that guy or his play. RIDICULOUS

Saw an old video from the sixties by Vic Bubas complaining about the banning of the dunk.He said we are charging up to four dollars for tickets and cutting the entertainment for the fans.It costs about a thousand dollars with parking and hotels to see a game today
buy a big enough car with a nice AC, TVs, and enough space and make sure to pack pillows and blankets and just like that you have your own mobile hotel!

It just goes to show you how out of touch these NBA superstars are. If a room at Grand Destino towers is comparable to a motel 6, then your standards our out of control. That's a $600 dollar a night room.

If you google Motel 6 room, it looks exactly like that room. Disney charges that exorbitant price due to location on their property.
Disney does over charge for their rooms but under no circumstance is a room at Grand Destino towers even similar to a motel 6 room. I've stayed at both and there is as big a difference in those rooms as there is between my house and Rondo's house.

I’ve stayed all over Disney and in a few motel 6’s too. Trust me, it’s not all that different. Compare with a 5 star suite, you’ll see that the Disney room is closer to the motel 6 than the 5 star.

Courtyard Marriott in downtown Nashville is regularly $400/night. Not sure who is more out of touch, Rondo or those of you who think $400/night is high for a room at Disney property.

In fairness he has a point. Outside of a nice headboard and mirror on the wall it could easily be a motel 6 room. If I paid 400 for it I'd be livid.

Wasn't it Patrick Ewing that said the fans don't understand why we have to make the kind of money we do because they don't understand how much we spend.I thought that said it all

I hear you, but, I want them to have the memory with papaw and Mimi. All it means is my kids inherit less so at least I get some enjoyment out of it. Went to Disneyworld on opening day and a book of tickets was like 7 dollars in 71. We lived in Haines City, Florida at the time. of course minimum wage was 1 dollar a hour then.

A lot has changed in Nashville in the last 10 years. Including the influx of over a quarter million people to the metropolitan area.
Yeah, I used to be able to spend all day/night/the next day, etc waking around checking everything out and soaking in all the history. Now it's an absolute madhouse.

That kind of money in Central Florida? Good Lord. You could buy lower level season tickets to Rupp and still have money left over.
