How many years has it been since we had a player as good as Ron Harper?
Douby and he wasn't as complete as Ron...How many years has it been since we had a player as good as Ron Harper?
1976. It was a heckuva start. What year did Rutgers start playing college basketball?
He’s the best wing in the B1G
Who you taken over him ?
Actually Nov. 2016, just took time to build and get really really good.2019
Love those broad shoulders....funny how the Suckacuse fans were calling him pudgy heading into that game a couple weeks back. Also can board with the best of them due to being build like a truck.
Lets not forget Keith Hughes (syracuse transfer). Last time theyWe’ve had a few very good big men, and a few very good guards . No top talent small forwards jump out at me except Clarence Tillman is similar, who I mentioned previously. He was a McDonalds AA who transferred from Kentucky after 1 year. But Not a great career here due to lack of overall team talent.

Please stay uno mas
Tough Comparison. Sometimes being on a better team makes you look better. Douby had not a lot to work with.Nothing against Douby but Harper>>>>>>>Douby.

Solid comment Degaz, right on the money. What’s amazing is that he’s averaging 24 ppg, but he’s doing it within the offense. He rarely forces a shot or plays hero ball. He has just been incredibly efficient.
Can‘t agree at all - although I should check Tillman’s numbers first. I remember being very excited when he transferred in but was immediately shocked that he just wasn’t that good. Very slow. Not anywhere near as athletic as Ron. It‘s obvious why he left KY - he wasn’t good enough to play there. Harper is much quicker, a better defender, better inside scorer, better ball handler, much better player.Union...if no 3 pt shot and no shot clock, Harper’s numbers would be a lot closer to Tillman’s. Again, he was a McDonald’s AA. Not the quickest, but neither is Harper. Similar build and athleticism. Best ability of each is the outside jumper.
Phil Sellers was a first team AA small forward for the 1976 undefeated team. Baily and Jorden from that team became AAs before they were done too. We’ve had a few very good big men, and a few very good guards . What I was clearly wrong about was the talent around him. I didn't remember he played with Hinson and BattleThere's even more context. Jr. year he tied for leading team scoring avg with Hinson, and Sr. year he was below Hinson and Kevin Black. And well ahead of John Battle both years, who I am sure you know that along with Hinson were NBA guys. And there's only one ball. I don't think comparing stats tells the story. They are very similar players. You are selling him short by comparing to the game 40 years later.
Battle didn’t do anything his first two years while Tillman was there. Battle had a huge jump to his junior year. Those Hinson teams were quite good, NCAA last win was ‘83 with that team, I think. What I was clearly wrong about was the talent around him. I didn't remember he played with Hinson and Battle
