Howe really has an accurate sense of the hawkeye football coaches and program.
You don't get it. You can settle for $5 or fight it out longer and end up paying $10 to the end. Which one you choosing? While that scenario may true in some circumstances, I don’t think it has much merit when applied to the former player lawsuit.
The University/State of Iowa has enormous financial resources and could easily absorb any costs. The cost to defend the case was minuscule in relation to to the budget
Moreover, settlement was reached late in the process - after considerable expenses (approximate $2M) were already incurred during pre-trial discovery and motion practice - and just days before the trial was to begin. JMO.
Dude needs counseling.Rob Howe doesn't even have an accurate sense of himself..
Miller always came off as a pompous *** to me.Jon Miller was one that was very outspoken about getting cutoff from access after making comments that they university did not like.
We didn't go searching for it. It came here. For disliking Howe so much, a lot of you seem to have read every word he wrote.
apparently there is a new podcast out on whatever site Rob works for.
I would ask the Unabomber while in the hell would LeVar Woods and Bell, etc stay there as coaches if that stuff went on and was still going on? They could go anywhere they wanted.
Defendants had already incurred almost $2M in fees at the time of settlement. Discovery was completed and the parties were on the eve of trial. Settlement at this point of litigation is usually a calculation -by both parties - of the probability of an adverse verdict and the amount of damages which may be awarded (if any). You don't get it. You can settle for $5 or fight it out longer and end up paying $10 to the end. Which one you choosing?

This. Anyone without an agenda would be able to see that racism is not an issue in the programs culture.Weird that Levar Woods, Kelvin Bell, Abdul Hodge, Jason Manson, Noah Shannon all played for racist Kirk but decided to come back and coach for him. And Levar and Jason even let their sons play for the racist.
Mrs U Prez was the one making the call. She wanted it over.Defendants had already incurred almost $2M in fees at the time of settlement. Discovery was completed and the parties were on the eve of trial. Settlement at this point of litigation is usually a calculation -by both parties - of the probability of an adverse verdict and the amount of damages which may be awarded (if any).
Under a cost analysis, If Defendants were confident that they would prevail at trial and Plaintiffs would not be awarded damages, its finance common sense to incur an addition $250-500K at trial instead of agreeing to pay 8-10X that much ($4M) to settle the case.
It is also important to note that due to the unpredictable nature of juries and legitimate reasons other than cost, attorneys can be confident in the strength of their case and still seek settlement. As an outside observer, IMO the Defendants should have tried the case instead of settling.
Rob says this, so where are his interviews with players rolling out of the program the last year or two? Certainly they would talk to him, right?
I didn't click that click bait link, and won't. Rob Ho is possessed by a demon. We didn't go searching for it. It came here.
Neither does anyone elseOh look. Another article calling someone a racist.
Yawn.
I permanently left HN years ago after Howe was pulling this race-baiting crap in threads. I told him right then and there that I was gone, and I meant it. Haven't made a single post over there since.
Most do both, just like KF...Multi-millionaires either pay taxes or make charitable donations. Many billionaires, especially ones out East who live in big White Houses, do neither.
Miller is a bigger cuck than Howe. They're both washed up, never has beens. The worst. And such a poor writer too.
And whatever happened to Miller?
Miller and Deace were great podcasts. All football. I miss that. Then they both went off the deep end with politics. Just so weird. And scary. It could happen to any of us!Miller is a bigger cuck than Howe. They're both washed up, never has beens.
Add in the University was skittish after the outcome of the trial for Jane Meyer and Tracy Greisbalm where they were awarded millions so the University wanted it to go away even though the players recanted their accusations during pre trial interviews under oath. That’s why KF wanted to go to trial. He might of run a program where the coaches were mean and hard on the guys but they should have never made it personal while attacking players which Doyle, Wallace, and Brian Ferentz apparently did.Defendants had already incurred almost $2M in fees at the time of settlement. Discovery was completed and the parties were on the eve of trial. Settlement at this point of litigation is usually a calculation -by both parties - of the probability of an adverse verdict and the amount of damages which may be awarded (if any).

Other than obliterating context--a particular Howe "skill"--he also manages to lie about winning a judgment rather than what was, in actuality, an out-of-court settlement.![]()
Rob Howe: What we overlook when we celebrate Kirk Ferentz's wins - Little Village
Beth Goetz stepped to the Kinnick Stadium podium Saturday night with an announcement for Hawkeye Nation. “I gotta take the opportunity on behalf of the athletic department, the University of […]littlevillagemag.com
Miller went full-on left. The worst. And such a poor writer too.
And whatever happened to Miller?
Love it when ham-and-eggers tell us all how billionaires live...Multi-millionaires either pay taxes or make charitable donations. Many billionaires, especially ones out East who live in big White Houses, do neither.
Felicia Goodson flatly stated "Kirk Ferentz is not a racist. I've lived with racism my whole life. I know when someone is a racist, and Kirk Ferentz is definitely not racist".Weird that Levar Woods, Kelvin Bell, Abdul Hodge, Jason Manson, Noah Shannon all played for racist Kirk but decided to come back and coach for him. And Levar and Jason even let their sons play for the racist.
Miller IS pompous and Rob is/was a Antifa supporter....true storyMiller always came off as a pompous *** to me.
Name one single season during BFs tenure as OC that Iowa was remotely in the conversation to actually win a B1G Championship. It’s really the Brian Ferentz situation that should draw the most scrutiny to Kirk. He should own the fact that he probably cost Iowa big ten championships by putting his family in front of the program. Still not sure why he doesn’t get more flack for that. This other stuff in the article just feels like exaggeration.
Because Miller made "an inaccurate statement", which some people might actually call a "lie".Jon Miller was one that was very outspoken about getting cutoff from access after making comments that they university did not like.
I do not believe for one moment that KF is a racist, absolutely not. He did, however, apparently get a little lax with supervision of direct reports - Doyle specifically.Felicia Goodson flatly stated "Kirk Ferentz is not a racist. I've lived with racism my whole life. If you can’t answer that question for yourself, I’d probably log off for a while and touch grass. BozoSo what does the lack of starting qbs and receivers that aren’t white mean? Asking for a friend.
You are racist and are not self aware MomboIf you can’t answer that question for yourself, I’d probably log off for a while and touch grass. Bozo
It was my go to site for a long time. Howe drove a ton of people away during the racial bias issue in 2020, and the boards became a ghost town.Hawkeye Nation was my go to for years. Then Jon Miller left, someone I admired and respected. Ron Howe is a second rate hack. He is everything that is wrong with journalism today as a whole. He interjects his personal feeling into everything. **** that dude and his website.
Yes! Some of this was on Twitter. The worst was Miller and Howe one-upping each other on how poorly each of them mistreated minorities in their respective foggy pasts...
Miller: "I...used...the...N-word! (Hic...sob...sniffle)"
Howe: "I did it twice! Oh, God, I'm almost beyond hope! (Wail...sob...nose-blow)"
It was beyond pathetic. Two of the more blatant examples of wetting-thumb-and-testing-the-wind "journalism" one could ever witness..
Can't argue on that one, for sure.I do not believe for one moment that KF is a racist, absolutely not. He did, however, apparently get a little lax with supervision of direct reports - Doyle specifically.
He also put someone with Down syndrome in charge of the boards ... went by the name of Fryowa if I recall correctly. It was my go to site for a long time. Howe drove a ton of people away during the racial bias issue in 2020, and the boards became a ghost town.
Miller owns his own energy trading business. He’s in Bluesky now and post about Royals baseball, music, and the Hawks from time to time. The worst. And such a poor writer too.
And whatever happened to Miller?
Steve Alford tried to get him to stop writing negative articles. He asked Jon to come meet with him at Carver and when he got there it was just Steve and his Dad Sam. Miller talked about it in a podcast.Jon Miller was one that was very outspoken about getting cutoff from access after making comments that they university did not like.
