J.Giovany has a article basically saying the same thing this thread said. He talked to the scouts there and they all said RJ plays too much hero ball especially the last couple possessions and they wonder if he’s a player that can make his teammates better. They still like him but some have him 3rd of their board with Zion as a dead lock at one (all the scouts have him there are 6 games) and Cam two due to his skill level and jumper. The others are iffy on him due to the Gonzaga game, said this is what the knock has been on him before college how he is too skilled to disappear.
They all said Zion is way to unique to pass on at number one
RJ not making his teammates better is a hot take. Yes, he needs to learn when and when not to take the shot. That’s coachable.
No one is denying he made mistakes down the stretch, but come on, this is getting silly.
Getting??? I think it's been there for quite some time now!
It’s true. Just irks me when a Kitty Kat comes into our board talking about our guys.
Tired of it as well, because its something that can DEFINITELY be remedied. K has the game tape to go over w/Barrett, and point out his flaws in the waning moments of the game. Excellent teaching moment. And I leave it to the GOAT.....

Don’t over think it. Like you said earlier this is extremely coachable and it’s with a team and player who want to be coached. On top of that, he has Kobe and LeBron and Durant on speed dial to talk to him as well. K is not short on resources for this team.
BoomRJ is still currently second on the team with 4 assists per game.
That’s what the NBA scouts said not me
RJ is still currently second on the team with 4 assists per game.
Good enough to lead all UK players by a decent margin.RJ is still currently second on the team with 4 assists per game.
I think the scouts said that too, right @Jakarii?
Do you believe everything you read online?

Nope I watch and see what others who know the game say. Do you feel no player that plays for duke can ever be criticize and do your feelings get hurt when someone criticizes them?
So are the scouts also wrong to feel they would take him second overall, or the only thing they are wrong about is when it’s something you don’t agree with. Basically Trump logic
Nice use of a message board cliché. The old “anyone who knows the game” “good thing I don’t listen to other fans” ploy. I thought you were better than that.
I won’t try to have a conversation with you about basketball, because it would be a serious waste of time and effort. You also wouldn’t learn anything. Just know that what happened with RJ in Maui is easily correctable.
Remember, if you guys don’t make the NIT, there’s always the CBI.
I read something very similar to what you just posted. It is very true at this point of the season. The good news is we've only played 6 games. If you listen or ignore it doesn’t change facts just like when Oakafor and Parker we’re coming out and scouts talked about their defense (even though they liked both) and I’m sure you said they didn’t know what they were talking about and you know more because you are a “fan”. The reality is fans are less likely to be unbiased and ignore faults by a team or player they like. I’ve done that as a fan of Zion and his handles, as a fan of Nassier Little and his feel etc.

“Barrett began the year as the presumptive No. 1, but his overall inefficiency mixed with the rise of Williamson has started to push him down the board. Make no mistake, this is still a terrific pro prospect, a 6’6 slashing guard with advanced capability to finish at the rim and get to the foul line. His driving ability is his calling card at the moment, but for all his talent, Barrett has left scouts with more questions than answers at the start of his Duke career.
Right now, Barrett just isn’t playing a team-first game. He has a sky-high usage rate mixed with a poor 48 percent true shooting percentage. His lack of shooting ability is an issue for such a willing gunner, both from three (31 percent) and the foul line (62 percent). More than anything, Barrett hasn’t shown the ability to make his teammates better offensively or make plays defensively. It’s been a rough start, but he has enough talent to turn it around quickly with a more measured approach.”

Just heard Seth Greenberg point out that RJ has missed more shots than Zion has even taken. I'm not trying to crap on RJ for that; I think the stat demonstrates well that Zion needs more touches.
