Kind of glad we got cut. That is a smack in the face to the 3 schools that were left.
Poor kid doesnt get the college experience even for 6 months. IMO, terrible parenting decision.
Bet K and Cal did. Their lack of sincere interest led to his deleting them from his final three.
If that's his chosen profession and he has a chance to start earning now it's a good career decision. I doubt he or his parents will miss the 6 months in college playing for free.

Not really the way I see it. He is basically telling the other 3 schools it was never going to be them and that they weren't good enough for him. At least he had the respect to cut the 2 schools he was more interested in.

Could be or might not have the grades/scores to reclassify and be eligible. That said leading on several schools is bad form.
If you're going to play overseas I will have to admit that New Zealand is a country that I would like to visit.
If he really had no intentions on playing in college, that’s pretty bush league to have universities waste thousands of dollars recruiting him. Hopefully Cal didn’t spend too much jet fuel on the kid
I understand all that, but if you went to college you understand that it's an incredible time and the first time a kid is on their own. I hope this kid does great, but not going to college is missing out on a part of growth.
KU feeling the bite of the FBI investigation. 2 years ago they would have been able to double the offer from the New Zealand team.
I don’t see why more kids don’t do this. i’m sure many of them have no interest in college, so why not play ball for a year and make some serious $$, then enter the draft. College isn’t for everyone.
Exposure! Will they get more/better exposure playing in USA where NBA scouts can see them at any time and they make ESPN highlights? Or playing on a team somewhere in the South Pacific?

Unfortunately you’re right unless there are big changes. Amateur athletics is dead and kids realize this. I understand the publicity part of plying college basketball but more and more kids are gonna take the millions overseas or the nba is going to grow the g league to be more like minor league baseball
I’m sure scouts have been watching this kid in aau ball and will continue to watch him even if he’s in new zealand. no different than scouting foreign players.
This morning was a struggle until this. This is like a quad espresso straight into my veins. Pure schadenfreude.

It's a beautiful country - went there for work back in 2016. Wine tasting, venison (they raise deer on farms for venison), jet boating, zip lines and canyon bungee jumping. Also broke my wrist snow skiing in July.
Same thing was said after Brandon Jennings. Most top recruits are still going to want that exposure the best programs offer. That exposure will end up being worth more than that one year of international play.
