Just a note:
From what I can gather, the Lakers have still not issued any type of public statement.
Nothing on twitter, and nothing on Lakers.com.
In this day and age, when everyone feels compelled to run and get their words and images out for public consumption, I find this fascinating.
In recent years, the Lakers have done a lot of house-cleaning. But Kobe was definitely a part of the family. A "son" to Jerry Buss, and somewhat like a brother to so many others.
He and Rob Pelinka were good friends, professional business partners, and confidantes.
This must be daunting for them. But I admire the silence.
At the same time, it just makes me think of how emotionally crushed they all must be right now.
Tuesday night was supposed to be one of the biggest games of the regular season. Now, they are preparing a very public funeral.
