He's an ex player. Not the president, not some renowned leader or world figure. it is tragic, and sad. but it's life.

Hes a hair more that an ex-player. He’s a sports legend man. This would be like Jordan or Jeter dying. Kobe picked up where Jordan left off. I liked to watch Kobe play. Just as I liked to watch Jordan or Johnson or Bird.
So while it’s not a major historical figure, it’s pretty big.

Terrible news. But that era late 90s early 2000s with iso ball and all that nonsense is precisely why I stopped following the NBA.
A man with 4 young children tragically dies in a helicopter crash and you use the opportunity to talk about not liking his era of basketball. Hats off to ya, mate...

Losing a loved one is the absolute worst thing in life. I’ve buried 2 grandparents and 2 parents who lived long life’s and died of natural causes. To lose someone at such a young age from my perspective, the prime of life in many ways in a tragic accident must be devastating. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of all who were lost.

he's barely an ex player and is still one of the most important figures in the game. I think it's disrespectful to be playing right now, if I was on the Rockets or Nuggets I would be upset to get put out there. What if the Lakers were playing in Staples this afternoon, would that be canceled?

There's been some shamefully irresponsible reporting regarding the children, with some reporting none of the children, and others all ...when it now appears both are wrong.

That's not the sort of news you should report unless you're certain you've got it right.

At the same time you are a professional. You play on. Kobe was a fierce competitor. You wanna honor his memory best? Go out there and play LIGHTS. OUT.

I know this. When my time comes and if this board is still around, y’all better be screaming and cheering at our coach and our boys for me!

It now seems to be confirmed that one of his daughters, Gianna, was on board. I have no words.

Today showed, to me at least, that twitter is the absolute lowest representation of humanity. Irresponsible reporting, disgusting comments, and shocking lack of empathy mixed in with many heartfelt responses. I’m not surprised, but this served as a reminder to give Twitter a break for awhile.

One of the greatest competitors in all of sports. Nobody was out working the guy. Sad news.
