Look in the sky. What natural thing up there aerodynamically looks like a plane?? Now find something that looks like a helicopter...that’s your answer.
Coming from someone who flew them. If you lose the power source then you’re a rock falling. Only hope is to conduct a successful autorotation which is essentially converting potential to kinetic energy at the last second to cushion the impact; small skid Helos you can slide it on gently if you nail it.
But civilian pilots don’t get reps at practicing autos
They pay great money to be . They are smut but rarely wrong. It's amazing how often TMZ is the first to get these stories. Not sure how they do it.
What shocking horrible news.
Not even close.. I saw it as did others..Worst post of the thread so far.
It was his own private helicopter, so it’s very possible he was piloting it.Im confused, I highly doubt Kobe was flying the helicopter.
I fly RC helis too. They are much tougher to fly than airplanes.Exactly and I love flying high end RC planes and the helicopters as well as they are made are ten times harder to fly than a plane. I can only imagine flying a real one.
All the other sites are saying it wasn't his kids or wife so I really hope that was wrong. It is one thing for a 40 year old man like myself to die it is another thing entirely for kids to die . Horrible either way but a child's life is the most precious thing there is on this earth . They literally are the future .Breaking news during the pro bowl reported it was he and his 4 children. Just terrible all the way around.
Heartbreaking!
Its still not being reported. Have you seen it elsewhere? Seems odd this report comes out the night after LeBron passes him on the scoring list.[/QUOTE]Wrong this time...sad to say...
Unbelievable. This is the biggest sports tragedy of my lifetime.
I can’t imagine Kobe flying the helicopter with 4 daughters including a newborn on board. Aren’t they reporting 5 people?ray:
They reported on the news that he usually hired a pilot instead of flying himself.Too soon to know for certain who all was on board but Kobe was a licensed pilot so he very well may have been flying himself.
Always had a special uneasiness about helicopters because of how many famous musicians and celebs have died in crashes.
I'm not sure how the safety compares to airplanes but you'll never catch me in a helicopter.
Terrible news. But that era late 90s early 2000s with iso ball and all that nonsense is precisely why I stopped following the NBA.
He's an ex player. Not the president, not some renowned leader or world figure. it is tragic, and sad. but it's life.they are actually playing this game in Denver, I am shocked
TMZ was first to report it and says they weren't on board.
Pretty close to me.. Not that bad.. I never watched another NASCAR race again after DE.. Some of us get too caught up into people we never met,, but I lost my dad in 2010 and losing Dale was equally as bad for me.. This does rank up there as I followed Kobe from his Jr year of high school all the way through his career.. This is a tough one to swallow..It reminds me of when Davey Allison died. I was still into NASCAR (as a kid I called them ray cars and loved to watch the speed). Allison was my favorite as my Dad liked him too. When that news broke I was heartbroken. My favorite driver had died. I stopped watching NASCAR. And to be honest, hadn’t really watched it much until right before Dale Earnhardt died. I picked it back up, and about a month after I did, I watched Dale Earnhardt slam into a wall and die. It broke my heart again. I haven’t watched NASCAR since.
Now that you know that, this is even worse.
They reported his daughters DIED when they were wrong! ABC should be tossed into the sun for that. Absolutely disgusting and disgraceful. No need for this post
