People that have to explain their accomplishments have some inner insecurities.

LMAO. He's a teenager in disguise. At least i hope so or hes the dumbest UK letterman ever. I put him and his other screenname , Sluggercat on ignore. Love ignore as they vanish without a trace.

As much as I spit venom at Rick and Louisville (especially their fan base) I can't help but believe one day when he's old and grey he will be welcomed back in Lexington with open arms. You can tell he truly regrets leaving UK.

He's old and grey now. We don't have to wait for that.

Screw him now and forever.

Just because you do some great things doesn't mean you should be immune to repercussions from your negative actions. Look at Pete Rose. He did things worthy of the Hall of Fame, but he also made poor judgements and doesn't seem to have any remorse for his actions. I wouldn't be against taking down Pitino's banner. His behavior and the constant issues he has had since leaving UK are a black eye that I hate to be associated with us in any way. I wouldn't take down any Final Four or Championship banners because the players shouldn't suffer for their coach's actions.
You can't just redact a coaches accomplishments at any particular school after he moves on to another institution and then shames and/or makes a complete *** of himself, just because it's perceived to be a stain by proxy association.

If I recall, this message board was up in arms in a full on prima donna tizzy blasting Memphis and Umass for their hesitancies to honor John Calipari because of the less than amicable and highly controversial way he departed those respective programs

Dicktino never played a second in any of the games his players won for our program. Sure his coaching ability helped but all the plays he called we're performed by players.

Take his banner down but there is no reason to take down what the players accomplished. Two entirely different things.

Your argument would be funny, if it wasn't so sad and asinine.
So a coach plays no consequential part in the accomplishments of his players? I suppose they just coach themselves, spontaneously manifesting offensive and defensive principles, maturity, and all the intangibles that go into fostering young players into experienced winners and champions.

By that same boneheaded rationale, Cal doesn't deserve any of the accolades he receives and that 200 win mark is merely him standing on the shoulders of all the players he's brought into the programs he's helmed in his highly successful career.

Please.

To answer your question...no. Pitino'd individual banner does not deserve to be hanging in Rupp anymore after his personal antics and his degrading of our fan base for years and years. He does not believe that UK made him what he is today and does not appreciate the university. As for the other banners comment: Rick Pitino did not individually win those banners. Those were team efforts and the banners are a team accomplishment recognition.

See above post.

In the end, either Pitino resigns willingly (ain't gonna happen), or Tom Jurich fires him (ain't gonna happen either), or Senor Ramsey steps in and takes the reins (y eso no va a suceder o bien, mis amigos). And Matt Jones can't fire Pitino. So we may have the pleasure of kicking his butt again next year, which I prefer.

My family doesn't worry about it.

Your family doesn't know anything about letter jackets either because there aren't any and you have no degree or you wouldnt act like you do.. Keep responding to yourself with your slugger account.. You are both on Ignore. You post nothing day in and day out but Pitino obsession. Get a grip.

I hate to break this to you, but Rick will always be given accolades and be remembered as one of the games legends. It's that whole winning a title at 2 different schools, taking 3 schools to the final 4, overall wins and win percentage thing that's going to keep you from getting the whole "Rick sucks!" Narrative from being accepted.

Sorry.
I was one of those that he thought he hung the moon but since his time at UL and the scandals I have no him. He is a total jerk and a disgrace to UK as a former coach. I can't stand the sight of someone who lies, screws around with other women, pays for an abortion and is a disgusting human being.

This needs to happen. We need to email or call people to voice our frustration at UK to have it taken down. Anyone have the emails or numbers to call? #takeitdown

Are you crazy? Love it or hate it, he is part of our history.

PS. Pitino is a washed up loser with a crow tattooed to his back and deserves no clock time on this board. Over and out.

Didn't he pull something like at Rupp a couple of years ago when he spoke in the Lil' Brother locker room to Forde and the hometown media?

Is it really okay for the head coach to skip out on the press conference? Is the university is okay with this? They pay him a huge salary and isn't that part of his job?
Does a coach get fined for bad mouthing officials?

I'll just put this out there.

Hitlers mother liked him but he wound up evil. I'm also sure that when people get married and love live then later get divorced because their spouse is now sleeping with their enemy, they aren't keeping their pictures up in their homes due to the good times they had.

I listened to him on the U of L postgame broadcast (because I knew he wouldn't face the regular media). He said "I hate losing to anyone, especially this team" and "I really hate losing to this team". I don't think he likes losing to us.

You'd think by now he should get use to it.

Forde is still a jerk....Cal beats Pitino.

Only took Forde 8 years to see it.

If the university is okay with a personal sex scandal, and hookers in the dorm then I would say not showing up for post game pressers is A OK in their book

Oh, so that's what it was. Rick wasn't flipping us off, he was just reminding everyone of how many wins he has against UK under Cal :joy:

Pitino is a coward and I wish he'd never set foot on UK's campus as coach. It's not like UK wouldn't have gotten back on top. UK will always be a great program because we demand it.

Could care less what he did for us back in the 90s. Cal's done more in a shorter time and he's done it the right way. Pitino was always one big paycheck away from leaving town. People who worship the guy still are the ones who are a joke. He made fun of you behind your backs. And still does.

That will never happen for a variety of reasons. Get over him, he was a snake oil salesman when he was here and he has remained just that as he has moved forward. We do not owe him a darn thing. His outlandish, boorish, immature, actions of the last few years culminating with his complete loss of self control today, are reasons enough to rip that darn jersey down, grab some Kingsford and torch it.

This is probably being a bit too UK-centered (although Pitino's sophomoric actions today [flipping the bird, no-showing for pressers] give credence to this type of thinking) but do you think he is just waiting to hang it up until he has some success against UK again? With all the trash that's going on within his program, surely he can't be enjoying it any more. Just thinking out loud...

Unfortunately for him, Cal can't coach here forever and wait for him.

It's either retire now with no more losses or sustain 20 more. How you want it Ricky?

And this is the type of fan who I mistakenly assumed RP was probably responding to...the small, but vocal, classless minority. Hypocrisy would be someone like Pikespeak spewing his vulgarity and then crying when he gets a response in kind.

However, upon seeing the video, and realizing that what was said was relatively tame, I agreed with the poster who said the banner should come down.

We all will sleep better knowing you agree
