Could be significant for Rick............Pitino. UCLA is low balling offers and Pitino would take less money to get back into college coaching. Still doubt it happen’s and i think that ship has sailed but you never know, the longer their search drags on. Barnes won’t leave Tenn for UCLA. He’s just following Cal’s blueprint to get a little more money. Cal is worth every penny, Barnes.... not so much.

BREAKING: Rick Barnes has agreed in principle to become the next head basketball coach at UCLA. Sources confirm Barnes interviewed this weekend at the Naismith Awards Banquet.
guy is 64. not much time left. the team he has at tenn was miracle. he isnt getting that again there. rebuild at ucla in a terrible conference or rebuild in a conference that has the best collection of coaches and cal!
If there is a program trashy enough to give Rick Pitino another chance it’s Tennessee.
Hope Beard stays away from UT.
RB has made UT relevant in basketball and he’s putting butts in seats.
He’s not going to UCLA, but this will make UT pay RB what he’s earned. UT is worth whatever raise he gets. He’s earned it.
He’s done great at TN but that is not the man I’d want coaching a job like UCLA. I don’t think he’ll ever bring in top recruits. He’s similar to John Beilein....great coach but not for a job like that. You won’t improve your brand and attractiveness to younger players. Beilein and Barnes know coaching, but UCLA has the ability to recruit for itself if you have the right guy and Barnes is not it.

I went to UT's page on ACCSPN, and nothing about it. However, of course they have a picture of Barrett hugging Zion. It is to laugh how they plaster pics of Zion on pages that have nothing to do with Duke. They actually have that same pic TWICE. Ridiculous network.
Looked at our page, and yep, first pic is Zion with an article about Cal praising him. So glad he is gonna be in the pros next year.

UCLA has contracts with every coach that they approach as a candidate. When the school pays those coaches extra to stay put, they pay a percentage to UCLA. It is a profitable venue. Coaches get richer, and UCLA gets richer. they came up the formula that can't fail.
Don't care either way, but would love that it will rile up the Rocky Top fans.

Yes I believe Peatl had them #1 in the country while he was there. Not sure how old you are but they were a thorn in our side during the Ray Mears years.
Oh, they would. But I don't think the NCAA is done with Rick. I think a show cause penalty is still coming. If someone attempted to hire him, they would be hearing from the NCAA about it.
I can't see that happening. Texas Tech has more tradition just from this season than Tennessee basketball has over 100 years
