That is why I was hoping we would get Omoruyi for next year. Nobody will push him around. Instead we're looking at two starvin' Marvin types in EJ or Isaiah Jackson manning the middle next year. If that's the case then we will really get pushed around next year.
These new signees need a few cheeseburgers, they look like a puff of wind would blow them away.

And he won at UMass by sorcery.

No....he won at UMass by having Marcus Camby and an A-10 schedule. Again, I'm not taking a shot at Cal. I think recruiting and player management is the most important tasks in college ball.

Incorrect.

In 1992, he had a 30 win team that lost to UK in a game to go to the E8 using 5 players you've never heard of, 1 of whom had a high major offer.

Prior to that season, UMass had been to the tournament one time ever - in 1962. Not even Dr. J averaging 28 and 20 in the late 60s was enough to get them back in.

Cal used Marcus Camby and four other guys you've never heard of (again, one with a high-major offer) to win 35 games, go to the final four, and split the series with the '96 cats, including a double digit win.

Good thing he was able to out-talent the '96 cats coached by Rick Pitino, right?

In 2006 and 2007, he took 5 guys that no UK fan wanted out of high school, maybe 3 of whom you've heard because they became stars in college, won 33 games per season and went to the Elite 8 each time.

Starting in 2008, yes, he was recruiting talent on par with the blue bloods.

I still remember how this board was laughing and ridiculing the hire when UT hired Barnes.

We're not laughing so much now. The man has been kicking our ***.
Not to mention we are .500 against Auburn our last 8 games. And we've lost 2 in a row to Ohio freaking State.

Thanks. I can’t figure it out - youth, or declining attention spans. For most of the 1990s Calipari was widely known as a great coach who didn’t have the benefit of much talent. He does a u-turn, starts getting great talent that is consistently young, which means he can’t deploy much in the way of elaborate offense or defense - or you’d have some sort of chaos - so people just forget that entire first decade and say he’s not an x and o guy.

Learn something new every day here. Today I learned that there are two dozen better coaches, and that everyone knows Calipari teams are “soft.” Somehow, he’s won more games and more tournament games than any other coach, and was a first ballot Hall of Famer while in his mid 50s (less than 10 coaches in history can make that claim). People are funny.

Cal seriously needs to let the assistants coach against his friends. Barnes, Frank Martin, Steve Alford, etc all cause him problems. Cal gets all soft with his friends.

Against UK in the last 8 games. And he's coaching at that basketball dump, UT. No more Rick Barnes jokes please. The man is Cal's kryptonite.
Barnes and Pearl For some reason always have success against Calipari. Both have winning records against him the last few years. I think it says more about the SEC than anything. I believe the league is getting better.

Two of those wins were an atrocity. This week and SECT game with Grant "flops wont work in the NBA" Williams.

Rick Barnes is teaching a pretty shameless form of basketball down there.
