We didn't lose the game. That was the big deal. Last year's team would have lost that game. At the end of the season, if we don't see improvement from last year then we should fire Coach Rhule. He's done nothing to warrant this much criticism. If you don't like Coach Rhule then your not going to like Coach Rhule. Well, maybe you'll post on the psychology of that loser! 😂
I already did and you didn't it then either.

Coaches all have different personalities. Yes, you named some great ones that are super reserved, and that's great.

You also have coaches who like to talk and have been really successful. Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll, Mack Brown.

Easy. He knows he walks into projects. Temple, oof. Baylor, yikes. Nebraska, double oof.

Has he ever walked into a good situation as a head coach? I don't think he's ever walked into an okay situation. All programs have been complete trash.

Because he knows this, to me means he's the opposite of insecure. To me, it shows he's confident that he can take a trash situation and turn it around.
Jimmy Johnson was a hard ***. wasn’t always very well liked but hell of respected. You’re comparing Rhule to JJ. Seriously? Jimmy was cocky, Rhule is a TikTok influencer

Mack brown was ran out of Texas and fired @ UNC

Oh poor Matt had to take a millions to coach football at nebraska. geeze, I’ll cry for him. LOL

Stop making excuses for Rhule already and blow him. Maybe he can make your oof sounds for you while that happens

this is when I point to his record…. I know excuses coming. Aren’t you tired of making excuses so much. Wouldn’t it be nice for him to prove it? Thursday looked more of the same. But i know we were playing the Philly Eagles lines

It's there for all to see! I mean, your anonymous, but a turd is a turd regardless of source.
The Cletus joined yesterday, posts shite about Nebraska today. Some posters are trying their best to shine that turd but when the sun hits it it'll still be a turd.

And here’s the kicker. I freaking think Matt Rhule’s a fine football mind. I think the man understands the game. I think he’s a good man. I think he has a smart way of connecting with kids today. But I think he gets in his own way with pulling for “hard workers” over talent and this shows in recruiting. I don’t think the man has any ice water in his veins. I think he chokes. Men have overcome that in coaching. Some may even say TO did. But Matt has to. But I didn’t see a lot of change in him Thursday.

And I won’t buy in to a tuff situation BS. that really pisses me off. He went to a school with all the support you need on a $74 MM contract. Bigger budget last year than Ohio state and Penn state. Likely #1 and #2 next week.

is it a hard job? Hell yes. But that’s what the $74MM is for. If it was easy he’d be being paid what all of us make or less. He needs to stop dicking around with RBs and find a true NT. That ain’t going to happen over night sadly. So you make do and get griddy. Play what you have and have some dam confidence in it.

@bigboxes you’ll be bragging about Akron and the high school we play after the zips. You’re the most Dallas Cowboy Husker fan ever.

Isn't the point of a CEO head coach that he doesn't have to micro manage every little thing.

We both do the same thing. You make pizzas.

You explain the ingredients and process you use, thus you know what to expect with the finished product this week.

I use all the ingredients and process that Matt uses so I know what to expect the product to look like when it takes the field.

When you use 6 products of which 4 are top notch, 1 is good, and 1 is subpar you can expect it to be less than the best that could have been produced.

If Matt is using predominantly top players at his disposal, and a few that are just good, then sprinkles in 2-3 subpar players he won't produce the best product that was available to him.

The problem is you know the tomatoes you use for the sauce were subpar because your mom grew them but you'll use them anyway cause you don't want to hurt her feeling. Matt overlooks that.

Same difference.

After reading what you posted above. I won’t open any attachments you send. You seem to have some strange fantasies about some gay stuff. Strong pass. But you do you

His ego should be big. He beat a team by 3 (that he should have lost based on his stupid in-game coaching decisions) that is now 0-6 in their last 6 games. A lot of positives there. The dude gets on test and Ozempic and thinks hes about something. In 2 years, he will be about how many cars he can sell in the quarter. In 1.5 to 2 years, he will be gone. If I could steal millions from fans, based on smooth-talking bullcrap, I would have an ego too. Crappy coach, but a smooth-talking legend in my opinion. I love Matt Kenneth Rhule-not from his crappy .500 caoching prowess, but based on his sales talk abilities. And apparently 90 percent of the fan base has fallen for it as well. I haven't.

Notice how no one has offered a counterargument to my point. I absolutely believe that Rhule is a good man off the field, but he definitely has an ego when it comes to his personnel decisions on the field. He kept Jeff Sims on the field until he got injured. He defended Satterfield until our season was heading into a full-on freefall. And I guarantee you that he'll be calling this D-Line a good unit until late in the season when we're sitting at 5-6 or 6-5.
I still predict a 9 win season

The job is apparently so hard he can also do a weekly podcast of his own and also appear weekly on someone else’s show.

I was banned for questioning frost early on.
Frost spent time drinking, Rhule spends time podcasting

But easy to spot the people okay with child rapists these days. If they don’t want the Epstein files released we know
The Cornhusker Clink is currently making room for you.

This is still one of the best "sales" jobs ever accomplished.

Years ago, HS coaches would stay around later in the coaches office to shoot the **** and avoid going home to their annoying family. So of course, they started to spread the word about how "hard they worked"

NFL coaches started to get paid more and more, so they had to pretend like they needed to work 100 hours a week. So that trickled down to college coaches, who, for the longest time really had it made. Now they needed to start pretending like it took 100 hours a week to run a FB trap.

Now, everyone KNOWS they don't need to "work" that much but as fans we NEED to hear that our coach is burning that midnight oil. Because if they are not, well there will be hell to pay!

Can't wait for Rhule to get asked something like "Hey, is all your extra stuff, like your podcasting, taking away from your 100 hour a week coaching job?"

Even in the pre-NIL era, winning 6 or 7 games in Year 3 would have your seat on fire unless you took over a 1-11/2-10 program with zero appeal to recruits. It's winning time this season, and anyone saying otherwise gets an A+ in the goalpost moving department. This season is an absolute failure if we don't finish at least 8-4. And I promise you that the best players on our team feel the exact same way. Say goodbye to Dylan, EJ, Barney, Hunter, and others if we finish 7-5 or worse.
We're 1-0. Take a deep breathe, step away from the ledge, and repeat after me. "It's only week 1".

The defense played well for the most part. Held them under 100 yards passing. They won the turnover battle (2 huge turnovers, 1 at the end of each half). There was a lot more good on D than bad IMO.

It seems the Matt Rhule pro/con is about 50/50 on this thread. What I felt after the game and mostly heard from our fans after the game in GEHA, walking to cars and at breakfast at the hotel was glad we won, aren't a playoff team, and things need fixed. Specifically lack of downfield passing, fear the D-Line isn't very good, and suspicion Butler may not be up to the task. But mostly glad we won a game we would have lost in years past and guarded hope for the rest of the season. I wasn't hearing a lot of negativity toward Rhule. But then, the people I was talking to used a vacation day or two to attend the game, and spent a bunch of money (including the insane $50 to park) to be there, so they could have bias toward being more optimistic about Rhule Year 3.
