I was banned for questioning frost early on.
Frost spent time drinking, Rhule spends time podcasting

But easy to spot the people okay with child rapists these days. If they don’t want the Epstein files released we know

and you will cry to the mods snowflake
There's a big difference between Rhule's podcasting and Frost's alleged drinking. Rhule's podcasting promotes the school/team in order to help recruiting. Frost's (alleged) drinking actually hurt recruiting (allegedly).

It's ok if you jump back on the bandwagon when things get good enough not to embarrass you.
Back on the bandwagon? The bandwagon moved out 20 years ago and hasn’t made a real stop in Lincoln since. It drove by in 2009 & 2010, slowed down at the bandwagon stop but never really stopped to let anyone on.

All that’s left are diehards. Just cause I don’t drink Rhule-aid doesn’t mean I’m not a fan. I hope Rhule succeeds. I’m not going to do a victory lap if he gets fired. It will suck. Just hope the guy gets it together. I expect people who have a $74MM contract to be successful

This is still one of the best "sales" jobs ever accomplished.

Years ago, HS coaches would stay around later in the coaches office to shoot the **** and avoid going home to their annoying family. So of course, they started to spread the word about how "hard they worked"

NFL coaches started to get paid more and more, so they had to pretend like they needed to work 100 hours a week. So that trickled down to college coaches, who, for the longest time really had it made. Now they needed to start pretending like it took 100 hours a week to run a FB trap.

Now, everyone KNOWS they don't need to "work" that much but as fans we NEED to hear that our coach is burning that midnight oil. Because if they are not, well there will be hell to pay!

Can't wait for Rhule to get asked something like "Hey, is all your extra stuff, like your podcasting, taking away from your 100 hour a week coaching job?"
Or is watching Texas and Ohio state (two teams we don’t play) part of the 100 hours too.

If I could add watching football with my boys to my work hours, I’d put in 100 hours a week too. Hell I logged a 12+ hour day yesterday.LOL

I mean god save Matt Rhule. People talk to me at the office about how tuff a life the EVS lady at my office has. Two full time jobs, trying to make ends meet after her home burnt down. Next time I’ll be sure to tell her about Matt Rhule and how lucky she has it

THANK YOU!

Their offices at the athletic department is basically a huge man cave!
Tons of TV's, weight rooms, cafeteria where everything is free and amazing, all the drinks you want (I am guessing booze as well, at least back in the day), barber shop, saunas, pools,

Ummmm "Yeah, honey, I will be late again, still can't figure out how to get this FB trap installed"

Haha this thread. People are reaching deep to disparage Rhule about anything they possibly can. Look at the most recent post. Amazing
Remember, we did the same thing with Frost and fans LOVED it.

Remember how he was in the golf simulator all the time????

It is amusing to read threads like this.

So many beta “fans” that are rooting for the failure of this coach and team. It’s so easy to be negative, predicting failure and clinging to every fault of the team and staff, even in victory. Why? Because it takes real heart to do otherwise.

Assured, there are “hard data” posters in here that post analytics that can appear as a negative slant, but facts aren’t feelings. It’s the trolls and bullies (nothing new to message boards), that now seem to be in the majority here.

You don’t get it.

Celebrating a squeaker win against a bottom of the barrel Big 12 team is fine. I felt good Thursday night, probably would’ve tossed and turned all night had we not.

It’s also fine to express concern that we have appeared to regress heavily on defense, and improve marginally, if at all, on offense.

For so many of you, it’s either “full sunshine and koolaid party” or “go back to the Iowa board 😛

If I had a child with Down syndrome pulling C’s in class, I’d celebrate it no matter what. If I have a gifted kid who is pulling C’s and D’s each semester after telling me straight A’s were on the horizon, I’m not telling him he’s Isaac Newton.
I mean Alabama just lost to a FSU team that went 2-10 last year and finished last in the ACC. It’s like teams can never improve from year to year...

Jimmy Johnson was a hard ***. wasn’t always very well liked but hell of respected. You’re comparing Rhule to JJ. Seriously? Jimmy was cocky, Rhule is a TikTok influencer

Mack brown was ran out of Texas and fired @ UNC

Oh poor Matt had to take a millions to coach football at nebraska. geeze, I’ll cry for him. LOL

Stop making excuses for Rhule already and blow him. Maybe he can make your oof sounds for you while that happens

this is when I point to his record…. I know excuses coming. Aren’t you tired of making excuses so much. Wouldn’t it be nice for him to prove it? Thursday looked more of the same. But i know we were playing the Philly Eagles lines
Jeez...

You made a comment saying, "Good coaches generally never brag in public." then proceeded to list a few coaches that have a more reserve personality.

I was pointing out a handful of coaches who don't have a reserve personality, yet were also very successful. So your "a certain type of personality will determine your success/failure" doesn't really hold any weight.

I wasn't making any excuse for Rhule. Just pointing out that your claim of him be insecure is a rather stupid claim.

As far as his record, you don't think starting at Temple, where Baylor was in their situation or where Nebraska was, plays any sort of role in how it could affect his record?

Oh we don’t have to reach down deep unfortunately.

I think the ones that have to reach down deep are the ones that make a 71-84 (13-13 at NU) coach look worth $74MM.
Nah the angle a few of you are taking is obvious how deep you are reaching. Then when someone disagrees you have gay thoughts creep in your mind. Like a weird post you made earlier in the thread. Very odd

You've made it clear that you don't believe Rhule will succeed here.

If Rhule does end up succeeding, obviously you'll be happy & glad that he did, BUT will you admit that you were wrong and a total dick on this board?

FSU completely overhauled their coaching staff and roster, Cincy did not.

Are you really this simple?
It's truly hard to follow along with what factors matter, what don't and when.

To some, that wasn't an allowable excuse for Rhule due to what he's getting paid, NIL, etc. but I'm sure its allowed for Norvell at FSU.

Yeah because Norvell won 13 games the year prior. Which is hilariously the same number Rhule has won his entire tenure here

if Rhule won the conference and had an undefeated regular season, he would get a lifetime contract

Are you asking me if I'm this simple?

So did Cincy lol. In fact, according to ON3, Cincy finished higher in the transfer rankings than FSU. They brought in 6 new WR and we held their passing game in check. I love how you just dismiss what Cincy did in the off-season, but acknowledged FSU. By the way Cincy also made coaching changes...https://www.on3.com/transfer-portal/team-rankings/football/2025/

Florida State has 6 returning starters, new QB, and a completely new offensive and defensive staff.

Cincy has 11 returning starters, same QB, and the same playcallers on both sides of the ball as last year.

So yes, you are simple.

So both teams are replacing half their starting roster....got it.

Cincy has the same QB and playcallers. More Continuity means better understanding of what they want to accomplish. Got it.

Cincy had the better season last year. But somehow FSU is the better team. But for some reason you hold the losing record against Cincy, but not FSU. Although Cincy has a better transfer portal ranking and the continuity of the playcalling coaching staff. Is the ACC that much better than the B12 where you think what FSU brought in, is somehow head and shoulders better than what Cincy did? Because I don’t think that at all. You act like Norvell is such a better coach, but dont acknowledged that Norvell in his 5th season at FSU went 2-10 which is actually embarrassing.

Yes, that was his first year, then he nearly doubled his win total the next year. Then he won 10 games the following year, the he won 13 the next.

Stupidity this egregious feels intentional.

Oh, this is just what most coaches will tell everyone, how they work 100 hours a week. There is even a new Big Ten commercial where they ask the coaches how many hours they sleep a night and they are all like "Oh gosh, 4, maybe, sometimes 3"

He didn't play a full schedule in 2020. 3 games short, so of course playing a full schedule the next season should increase his number of wins by 100%, but he couldn't even do that yet you count it as a great improvement, lol!!

Jim Harbaugh must be the greatest coach ever. Only won 2 games in 2020, then won 12 in 2021. That's a 600% increase!!

The fact that you don't take that into consideration doesn't bode well for your argument.

That doesn't mean they're working the other 20-21 hours. I don't even think they're implying that it does.

You are kidding, right?
You have never heard coaches talk about how many hours thy work?

In an article posted on the HuffingtonPost.com back in December of 2009 when Urban Meyer experienced his health issues at Florida, Louisville’s AD Tom Jurich made the following statement regarding how the Meyer situation made him take notice of then-new head coach Charlie Strong’s sleeping habits.
"
I’ve never paid any attention, but these guys go 100 miles an hour…Like Charlie, when he was here, he never slept. He went eight, nine days without any sleep, that’s not an exaggeration. He might get an hour here an hour there.

Below we have 64 hours in 4 days, mix in another 10+ hours on game day. and you are at 75 in 5 days. Clearly they are "working" on Thursday and Friday too.

________

It will be a long one -- 16 hours -- which is typically the case every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the season as Chryst and his staff get the Badgers ramped up for a game. This time it will be a first-ever trip to Maryland for a Big Ten Conference assignment with the Terrapins at Byrd Stadium.

Chryst, who turns 50 later this month, will take part in numerous meetings and video reviews. There will be discussions about recruiting and academics. There will be time devoted to peripheral issues like uniform designs and NFL scouting evaluations. There will be humor, sarcasm and casual banter as well.
