Rhule's ego

Notice how no one has offered a counterargument to my point. I absolutely believe that Rhule is a good man off the field, but he definitely has an ego when it comes to his personnel decisions on the field. He kept Jeff Sims on the field until he got injured. He defended Satterfield until our season was heading into a full-on freefall. And I guarantee you that he'll be calling this D-Line a good unit until late in the season when we're sitting at 5-6 or 6-5.
I answered you.

5 wins, but no one is saying Cincy is a world beater. While you're quoting stats what were Rhule's stats third season at Temple and Baylor? And when did Cincy get those yards? First half when NU's thin DL was fresh? Nope, after the backups had more playing time.
What happen to him in his 3rd year @ CAR? He got fired. But this isn’t Carolina nor is it Baylor or Temple.

And I think he has to win at least 5 conference games. Anything less is really going to be bad news for him. He can only spin some fans & media so long. 7-5 and a 40-50 recruiting Ranking type of class and passing on basically all the state players, yeah. The wolves will eat him.

If Rhule only wins 7 games this year he should be fired. He has been recruiting top 20 classes. It's only getting better. He's like in the top five in portal classes.

This is a total rebuild. It's like you want him to lose. Crying after a win just sounds like you need a nap.

Good coaches generally never brag in public. Think of things Saban used to say in his press conferences and you’d roll your eyes cause you knew he was downplaying. Tom did it to, to some degree. Im old enough to remember Lou Holtz at ND when they’d be like #1 and playing 0-8 William & Mary, he’d be like “I don’t know how we don’t get embarrassed Saturday, we can’t do anything right”.
Coaches all have different personalities. Yes, you named some great ones that are super reserved, and that's great.

You also have coaches who like to talk and have been really successful. Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll, Mack Brown.
Rhule’s just very insecure. Always has been. How could a coach that’s lost way more games than he’s won this far into his career not be?
Easy. He knows he walks into projects. Temple, oof. Baylor, yikes. Nebraska, double oof.

Has he ever walked into a good situation as a head coach? I don't think he's ever walked into an okay situation. All programs have been complete trash.

Because he knows this, to me means he's the opposite of insecure. To me, it shows he's confident that he can take a trash situation and turn it around.

He won’t be fired if he goes 7-5 this year. For one thing, it will be an improvement from last year and we’ll go to a better bowl game. Second, it would ruin a very promising 2027 recruiting class. And third, the buyout will still be huge.

I think his failure in Carolina has cultivated an obsession with trying to run things like an NFL team. Bringing in assistants with NFL chops to bring a “PRO” influence sounds good on paper but doesn’t always translate at the college level.

The product we saw on Thursday looks like a 7 win team at absolute best.

We won. We're not expecting to win the national championship. We're expecting us to be improved. If you watched the game on Thursday you would have seen that we won and we did not turn over the ball. It was a good game for Game 1. It challenged us. We persevered. It's going to be long year if you all are crying after every win.

I get what you are saying but this sounds like what parents say about their kid who finally didn't cry when he got dropped off at school.

"We didn't turn the ball over!" What? Okay.

We didn't lose the game. That was the big deal. Last year's team would have lost that game. At the end of the season, if we don't see improvement from last year then we should fire Coach Rhule. He's done nothing to warrant this much criticism. If you don't like Coach Rhule then your not going to like Coach Rhule. Well, maybe you'll post on the psychology of that loser! 😂

Luckily the DB dropped an INT and Railoas fumble roller right back into his hands.
I guess that was not luck but skill and the NU coaches must have coached up the players or something.

I don’t think the argument at Nebraska should be about seeing improvement. We are a top 20 program that spends millions and should not be satisfied with a coach who shows improvement. This isn’t little league.

Otherwise Pelini would still be coaching here

The melt down after a win has been crazy. One thing to discuss and criticize on what obviously needs to be worked on. Husker fans are so battered that can’t enjoys wins. Just crazy

You don’t get it.

Celebrating a squeaker win against a bottom of the barrel Big 12 team is fine. I felt good Thursday night, probably would’ve tossed and turned all night had we not.

It’s also fine to express concern that we have appeared to regress heavily on defense, and improve marginally, if at all, on offense.

For so many of you, it’s either “full sunshine and koolaid party” or “go back to the Iowa board 😛

If I had a child with Down syndrome pulling C’s in class, I’d celebrate it no matter what. If I have a gifted kid who is pulling C’s and D’s each semester after telling me straight A’s were on the horizon, I’m not telling him he’s Isaac Newton.
