Too slow gotta screen his man but we don’t do it we set stupid ball screens for Paul so he can turn his back to a defender and pass backwards all the time.

No D, and completely disappeared.
No D, and
Found it mind boggling that the team needed his leadership and help to hold the 14 point lead and then the 10 point lead and then the 4 point lead and he didn’t even try to assert his will and took 2 shots the last 8 plus minutes, a missed 3 that Mag rebounded and an ugly missed layup. His defense at the end , fouling was worse. How can he even look at his teammates in the mirror and keep a straight face when he gets nominated for another award. I am sure some of the new guys are saying when is he going to show it.

It is the reason they lost the lead but not the main reason they lost the game. The most pathetic 3 point defense that allowed 16-32 and also overmatched Palmquist fouled 2 more 3 point shooters for really 18. 54 points to 9 from 3. Almost impossible to do if I didn’t see it with my own eyes.

agree. Disappears when we needed him. Defense aside, make a f***ing shot. All we needed was one more.

RU had a 66-54 lead with 10 and change after a missed UMass 3, Ron rebounds dribbles up, no one around him and not even set chucks an ugly 3 5 seconds into the shot clock.

Those are the kind of hero ball plays that cost you the game. His defens was poor, At 72-57 with 8 and change and a chance to put the dagger in, he fouls with his body, he blew an easy layup at 74-64, then missed a 3 at 77-73 and then fouled predictably at 81-78...very poor last 10 minutes for him

He has a bad back. Really shouldn’t be out there.

imagine coming in to the season we were told…

Geo would be out with A hamstring
Ron would be very limited with a bad back
Hyatt would be so bad he’d be a DNP in 2nd half
Jones was so bad on D he was unplayable
Miller wasn’t good enough to play
Caleb had 3 air balls and was afraid to shoot
Agee would be a DNP in a game

Imagine getting all your points in the paint, out rebounding them 2 to 1 with a double digit lead.
Then ask your team to milk the clock and don't go inside anymore.

Worse crash and burn of the past 2 years other than Clemson. If RHJ was a pro in waiting he would have taken over.
If he has a bad back, ALREADY, it’s cause he’s out of shape and doesn’t take care of his body.

Let’s see...didn’t I say 7 keys to a big season were

1.) dealing with being the hunted (we lost three games being hunted )

2.) improved free throw shooting (Caleb misses one and one today ...big last of loss)

3.) 15-0 in the games we are favorite (we now are 3-3)

4.) improved three point shooting (disaster in 6 games )

5.) stop the scoring draughts ...(we had a big one in the second half today , and big ones in the other two losses)

We are a disaster right now ...and looking at 10-20.

was it vintage Boeheim
Negative. Like Lafayette you pound a small team on the offensive glass if they dare play zone against you.

we didn’t do that vs Lafayette and we couldn’t get shots against a pathetic defensive mid major team not playing their base defense

stop with the excuses, we have no idea what he has, if he has a bad back then he should not play.

Jones bad on defense is a board myth, no worse than any others

Jones was a bit better defensively today, and seemed to be a bit more fluid on offense - showing progress, which is good to see. Reports that he's a great 3pt shooter may be a bit premature, though... he's now 3/12 (.250)

McConnell had a stat stuffer line, but he gambled SO MUCH defensively in this game to get steals and ended up leaving Kelly open for a bunch of looks from the arc. His defense was lacking today, imo.

Harper's 2nd half line was.... 0 pts (0/3 FG, 0/2 3P, 0/1 2P, 0/0 FT), 3 reb, 4 ast, 1 tov, 2 PF

High hopes going into the season and then the reality check after six games showed a deeply flawed team which the coaching staff seems perplexed in correcting.

I've been posting since the season started.

The biggest concern with the offense is that our leading scorer is barely scoring his normal average against the weakest part of our schedule.

This is when our best players should be playing above normal before regressing once conference play starts.

we know he has a bad back because he gets treatment every time he comes out. You are not being fair.

Actually, we know he has a bad back because he gets treatment every time he comes out. You are not being fair Bac. He is playing hurt because we have no one better, which is an indictment of Pike’s recruiting.

That is an indictment of a Pike, which I don’t quibble with. But this is a “why Ron Harper sucks” thread, which I don’t think is at all fair when the kid is playing hurt, which Pike himself confirmed.

Yea, at 1:33 in the second half, when the refs were looking into the shot clock violation, you can see Ron grimacing and stretching and rubbing his back on the sideline.

Nothing against him, but they need to sit him, if he can’t give it 100% on defense.

If I’m thinking of the correct play the foul at 81-78 was actually Mag, but it was Mag trying to help because Ron wasn’t in position to contest the shot.

Edit: Disregard, the Mag foul was at 81-80

Ron/Geo era is over. They didn't want to be here anyway this year; only here because no where near NBA caliber...most likely not European caliber either. Season over so let's see what Palm, Mag, etc. can do and start long term rebuild.
