We played very well in the first half. Not much to complain about there. The Martinez fumble was huge though in allowing Colorado to stay in the game and probably cost us 7 points.
The second half there were a lot of defensive guys playing at 80 or 90%. We weren't ready coming out of the half and our guys let fatigue effect their play. Colorado made some good adjustments and had some really good play calls.
Our playcalling on offense was pretty bad for most of the half. Too much sideline stuff that Colorado was blowing up and not enough over the middle which was open a lot. Other than that Colorado made plays and we didn't. We allowed them to stay in the game and they played with more energy than us in the second half.
Overall I'm not freaking out about the rest of the season. I saw a lot of improvement in some areas from the first game. The O line played much better this week than they did last week, but are still struggling picking up stunts and blitzes in pass coverage.
The defense played better than I've seen them in a long time in the first half. Fatigue seemed to get the better of them in the second half, but the first half was definitely a positive sign for the remainder of the season.
An overtime loss to Colorado sucks, but there's still a lot of season left and if we continue to clean up some stuff and improve, I still think we can have a decent to good season.
