By the way, I don't consider Keldon Johnson a guard. He's a SF in college that CAN play the 2 spot at times. Regardless, depending on who pulls out of the draft and whether Travis transfers to UK, I can guarantee you there will be many times when we don't have three true guards on the floor.

Sorry, champ. Counting KJ as a guard (and he is a guard), we will have three guards on the floor at all times. Cal likes his offense a lot better that way and he plainly recruited for it.

Now, who knows? Maybe we get all three of our draft candidates back and Reid Travis transfers to UK. Maybe Hagans and Quickley both get season-ending injuries. If all that happened, we might do something unfortunate out of necessity, like run PJ Washington at the 3. Outside of something cosmic like that, forget about it. Green, Quickley, Hagans, and KJ are all 30 mpg players.

And no, I’m not placing unenforceable bets with people I don’t know. You’ll have to settle for being wrong and keeping your money.

Don't worry. I'll remember this thread and let you know when your position turns out WRONG.

I tend to agree with you. Cal wants to play fast and that gives us the best chance at that

If you read through this thread, this guy guaranteed that we would have 3 guards on the floor 100% of the time this coming season. That's just not going to happen. Will we primarily go with three guards? Very possible depending on the decisions made today. Even then, I personally don't consider Keldon Johnson a guard when he's manning the SF spot. That's nothing but semantics though.

Oh no Runt, excuse me why I go cry a river. I am guessing when Rupps runts were really in action, you were begging your mom for money to get into the gym to watch them play.
Captain dipsh*t rides again. This retort is basically a long-winded version of 'your mom!' [roll]

- the word you were looking for is "hear"

- I haven't been chubby since I was an infant

- these guys are more concerned with getting fools like you to listen to them in the offseason, than they are concerned with developing actual sources on West coast

You don't have any sources.

Who are "these guys"? Seems like they have better sources than the clowns (like you) on this board.

Nothing wrong with waiting and seeing. But I've been told repeatedly by two Stanford alums I trust that he has had already told the coaching staff he isn't interested in transferring. Apparently he recognizes how many doors that Stanford education will open for him once pro ball is done (and he's not likely to have much of an NBA career.)

Your sources suck or you're flat lying. Either way....

There really isn’t any salacious story. From everything I have heard, he really likes Stanford and plans to stay— presuming he isn’t in the league.

You never heard anything. You have no sources. LOL at the posters on this board that actually think (or pretend) they have connections.

For what it's worth, having not seen this guy play, I went back and looked at his numbers from games against name/ranked opponents (ignoring directional schools and lesser opponents) to get a sense of what to expect should he decide to come to UK.

Keep in mind, he played 34 mins per game, so assuming lesser minutes on the court in Lexington, one would extrapolate lesser results.

v. UNC 21 pts, 6 rebs
v. FL 23 pts, 5 rebs
v. KS 12 pts, 4 rebs
v. AZ State 18 pts, 10 rebs
v. AZ (1st time) 20 pts, 10 rebs
v. AZ (2nd time) 23 pts, 10 rebs

That's 19.5 pts and 7.5 rebs per game against ranked teams-- excellent production in my eyes. Assuming like production per minute at reduced minutes (say 28 mpg instead of 34 mpg) we're looking at 15.99 pts and 6.15 rebs per game (again, just against ranked opponents).

I would expect deviation from those averages when surrounded by better players than he was at Stanford, but if he can approach that level, I would be encouraged with the pickup.

On the minus side, he doesn't get many assists, his 3P % was about 25% (really didn't take many--not sure where the outside shooting anticipation is coming from), he seems to foul a lot (I think I saw 4 foul outs for the season) and isn't a rim protector (block numbers were very low) and I admittedly know nothing about his defensive prowess.

Travis will get a masters in Cal basketball which in his case means 1st round pick in the draft in 2019. Do that mean what I think it do? It do $$$$$$$$.
