Didn’t Reid practice yesterday? And I’d hold him out till then SEC. Another week of being cautious is smart imo.
Per the KSR pregame he did some but not full practice. Per the Dave Baker pregame, he didn't practice. So, who knows?

Unreal. I don’t even believe he comes back anymore. Even if he does it’ll be so late that we won’t have time to get back in sync with him. So in other words, another wasted season and wait til next year.

Save your insults.

Zion won’t be back this year. Go heels

What really stinks for this team is that it seemed like things were clicking. Roles were defined, they reached the defensive intensity level they needed to reach and the mental lapses were less frequent and not as long lasting. Then the injury happened. Right at the end of the season....

Just hope they have enough games back together to get that feel back.

Makes total sense. UF is way down this season, game is in Rupp.

Another chance to get Richards and Monty valuable PT heading into the post season and UK wont play again for basically a week which will give Travis time to work his way back via practices and get ready for SECT and NCAAT.
UF is not "way down". Obviously they aren't as good as last year, but they are still dangerous. They are 17-13 against a tough schedule, with 7 of their losses coming against nationally ranked opponents. They lost to LSU by 1 point the last time out. UK is hard to beat on Senior Day, but we will have to play well today.

Yeah I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t take UF seriously. Knocked off LSU at their place and almost completed the sweep on them.

One of those teams that’s underrated just because people like to base everything off records.

They have a good defense. If Travis can’t go it might be a struggle on offense

My god.. WE DON'T NEED HIM! It's Florida at home. Why rush him back if he's not ready?

Zion still isn't playing in a MUCH bigger game, and he was injured just one day later. These things take time. He'll be back for the NCAAT, that's what matters.
I disagree the SEC T matters this season as we are fighting for a 1 seed but simply if he is back practicing yesterday there is no doubt he will play in a week so we will have him then. I guess he wants to be fully back before playing which is fine . We don't need him to beat UF though it will be a close game now . We would of beat them by 20 with him IMO. Without him it is more like 5-6 pts.

As long as he plays in the tourneys we'll be fine. He's tough, steady and reliable. If not and we have to run with NR and EJ, we'll not win a title.

Rembrandt, UK is going to send UF to the NIt today. They are way down as they lost to a Georgia team in Florida that is 2-15 in the SEC, they aint beatin Kentucky in Rupp today.

He’ll be back for the SEC tournament.

I struggle to understand why people think he isn't coming back. If the dude had an ACL or season ending injury we would know.

The original talk was 2-4 weeks as I recall. He is at 2 1/2 weeks now.

Not to mention there is ZERO reason for him to play today. Need to continue to get as much out of NR and EJ as possible in terms of minutes and experience. If we cannot beat UF at home without RT, then well, we deserve to lose.

I had hoped he would play today just to build his minutes back up and get the rhythm back with the team. If they want to wait until the SEC tourney I get it. That is a lot of extra rest and will ut him over 3 weeks of recovery. However, we need him back first game of the SEC if he is healthy because he will need time to get his minutes back up and the team needs to get back in rhythm with him. I can't imagine you throw him out for his first game back against Tn in a physical battle royal. So as long as he is back next game I think all is good, but he needs a game before TN. Yes, we 100% need him back and at good minutes against TN. Misses another game I am going to get worried. Don't want to see him inserted first game back in the NCAA where one bad game and you go home.

Assuming your take for UK hoops is

Wasted seasons 108
Successful seasons 8

He is saying another wasted season with top tier talent. All of it remains to be seen though but this 8 in hundred years garbage doesn’t fly when you have a 10 year clip with 40 nba players

I don't know how anyone can assume he will be back for SEC tournament. Hopefully he is but to assume...I mean you know what happens when you assume right ?
The main reason to speculate RT won't play very much in the SEC Tournament is that Cal has made it clear he doesn't consider the SEC Tournament important or relevant. I think Cal will use RT over the final weekend of the SEC Tournament only enough for RT to break a sweat and get a feel for his game again. The prize for Cal is the NCAA Tournament, and that's when he will have RT ready to play real minutes.

RT is done at UK. Not only can't come back after a month or so because of conditioning, but wont be in rhythm with the team. Hope Richard's and EJ can carry this team

Point remains the same. The take was that if you don’t win it all it’s a wasted season. I’ve enjoyed this season and hope we make a run to win it all, but if we don’t it can still be a successful season.

The amount of nba players we have is irrelevant to me in terms of whether I enjoyed the season or consider it successful.

Now, if they get bounced in the first round I would disappointed and feel as though the team underachieved greatly. I usually withhold judgment until the season is over though.

Definitions for wasted season and successful season are subjective. I agree with you that the national championship is the primary goal here. But I am not convinced that a season without a national championship is a wasted season by definition, regardless of how many players move on to the NBA. When you get to the Sweet Sixteen, you run into a lot of future NBA players, a lot of dangerous opponents, and a lot of competitive moments when one questionable call by an official or one too many early fouls called on your best players can have the effect of changing the outcome of a game. This doesn't just happen to UK. All teams have days of good breaks and bad breaks. It only takes one mental mistake or one bad call to take a team out of a single elimination tournament.

Although you weren't specific, you seem to have a firm idea how many national championships we need to win every 10 years in order to stay above the garbage level.

My feeling is that being #1 all time in NCAA basketball victories, and #2 all time behind only UCLA in national championships, makes us the nation's best college basketball program. Historically, UK has won 76% of its games, which is also #1 all time. Seven modern-era coaches have contributed, some more than others. Adolph Rupp won 876 games at UK. Behind Rupp on the win list are Joe B. Hall and John Calipari, both with 297 wins. Whatever the standard is here, those three coaches have set it.

The rhetorical argument that Cal doesn't accomplish enough with the future NBA players on hand conveniently overlooks the fact that Cal recruits and develops these players. Cal has won 81% of his games here. He has won 6 SEC Tournaments, taken UK to 4 Final Fours, and won a national championship. Everyone can decide for themselves, but I would say he is doing pretty well.

People ought to be careful what they wish for.

Well I already knew this yesterday. I guess we will find out in a week if RT will ever play in a UK uniform again.
