Perry is taller (6-9) but Woodard is thicker (232 pounds vs. 200 pounds for Perry). I expect you'll see them on the court at the same time a lot. That could be at the 2 and 3 or at the 3 and 4.

Recruiters recruit. Amazing he attracts top 20 talent to state at the rate he has. Let's get some W's now.

I don't see Woodard as a 2 at all, but I think message board posters get too caught up in positions. The game has changed a lot the past 20 years.

You really think it's amazing? He put several guys in the NBA, one of which just won the MVP.

Weatherspoon, Malik, and Perry all have a family connection here.

This is great news, but certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Now when Howland goes into Chicago, Texas, and Florida to get the top rated players in those states from Duke, Michigan State, and Kansas... then get surprised.

There are really only three positions. Point, perimeter, and post. Maybe you call a guy competent to be a secondary ball handler a SG, and a guy big enough to rebound but not adapt at putting his back to the basket a SF, but it's really mix and match as long as you have a point, two perimeter players, and one post player. Within those constraints, you can have pretty much any combination (PG, SF, SF, SF, Post or Pg, SG, SG, Post, Post are both workable options). it's certainly easier on the coach though if you have players that can play at different positions.

It's an awesome pickup. When you think about it Only Dan Mullen has had trouble at times recruiting to Starkville. Cohen/Canni doesn't, Howland doesn't, Schaefer doesn't.

It is to me. Maybe I am still suffering from the shell shock of the end of Stans and all of Rick Ray , but when is the last time State has gotten 3 top 20 recruits in a 4 year span? Compared to the recent basketball MSU basketball this is amazing. I'm okay with taking criticism for thinking this is amazing, because I truly believe this is.

Exactly. I envision a lineup down the road with Nick Spoon, Carter, Woodard, Perry, and Ado on the floor together.

one thing that always sticks out to me ...i constantly hear how great starkville is in baseball and women sports, but we can't recruit in basketball and football ...i would lean toward the culture of recruiting... COUGH $$$$

Crazy when you consider

Dan has brought in the best recruiting classes in our football program's history, too!

I'm getting close to pulling a Gene Swindoll and asking for your name, first born, and phone number to prove you are a state fan.

For those unwilling to provide such personal information, Gene will also accept footage of you personally injuring a Mississippi State athlete as evidence.

Will he be a starter this coming season? Admittedly, I don't keep up with basketball that much so I have no idea who's already at his position.

Well if he isn't a starter for his high school team this coming season, then I don't know why he's a five star.

Wouldn't it have been simpler to have merely answered the question sans sarcasm?
