Shows is among the worst. They blow so many calls that all you can do is hope it's close to even by the end of the game.
In the Arkansas game, the refs were missing calls both ways. There was an obvious stepping out of bounds that wasn't called. There was an obvious hook that wasn't called. I believe in no harm no call but the refs are missing game changing obvious calls.Shows is among the worst. They blow so many calls that all you can do is hope it's close to even by the end of the game.
Shows’ fifth foul call on Holmgren was absolutely a terrible call. Holmgren was completely vertical and did not initiate contact. But that’s Doug Shows. Big tv audience, critical player to a team, late in a tight game and here comes Doug with the “big” call of the game. CBS pays billions of dollars for the tv rights, fans buy expensive tickets, and 68 teams are entered all so that Doug Shows can be the referee.Shows is among the worst. Agreed, but those last two calls on Holmgren determined the outcome. In the Arkansas game, the refs were missing calls both ways. There was an obvious stepping out of bounds that wasn't called. The 5th foul was questionable only because his arms did have a slight forward lean, but the 4th call was good. At 7 foot, he should have been able to allow the player to commit to the shot before going after the ball. I am not giving a 7 footer many calls for simply trying to block the lane to the basket.Agreed, but those last two calls on Holmgren determined the outcome.
How do you let Arkansas body up everybody on one end and call Holmgren for that nickel and dime stuff on the other. The 5th foul was questionable only because his arms did have a slight forward lean, but the 4th call was good.
Yes he did and made some typical UK calls all night. Even went to the monitor a couple times for non flagrant possible flagrants.Did Shows ref the Ark game?
I have no idea why the fool kept going to the monitor. Give me a break. If they had called a flagrant on the foul to the basket, I was going to stop watching the game. However, I am glad that some team is stopping the SEC from absolute total embarrassment.Yes he did and made some typical UK calls all night. I thought it was an and one. Didn't in live action but it sure looked like continuation in replay.Agree. It was a foul but the defender’s hand was clearly on the ball the whole time. NO reason for that to be reviewed.
Yes, the Ark vs Gonzaga gameDid Shows ref the Ark game?
Based on the the rule, that wasn't a one-and-one. He wasn't elevating the ball into a shooting position. It isn't like the NBA that considers it continuation if you don't put the ball on the floor.I thought it was an and one. Didn't in live action but it sure looked like continuation in replay.
Yep. It was a foul on the floor or a three. Not both. Nance and Raftery had a good cry about not getting the 3 and 1.Based on the the rule, that wasn't a one-ane-one. Don't give the bait post the satisfaction he desires.LOL … our fans are the biggest crybabies in the country.
Even the ESPN guy this morning said they were crappy calls, and he then said "that's not why Gonzaga lost"The 5th foul was questionable only because his arms did have a slight forward lean, but the 4th call was good. I agree 100% with this …Agreed, but those last two calls on Holmgren determined the outcome.
This. So much this. The moving/flopping charge calls have just gotten out of control. If a defensive player just falls down, there’s a 50% chance of a charge.
