This staff wasn't ready for a rebuilding project in a major conference. They caught lightning in a bottle for one year in a terrible conference. They didn't have experience building and sustaining program like Fleck at WMU. Frost took over a well-oiled machine as OC at Oregon and inherited a talented roster at UCF that was only a couple years removed from a BCS bowl.

I hope he can figure it out, because he's not going anywhere soon. But it's time consider that he is in way over his head.

I believe that Frost needs to follow the Dabo Sweeney model. Frost does not have to be the best x&o’s guy on the team. He can continue being the spiritual philosopher to build our culture. If he can have the top assistants, he will win. Right now we have bottom of the B10 barrel level coaches, and we’re going to get mediocre results at best. Some coaches never learn this (Callahan). Let’s hope our golden boy does.

Coach Frost says players aren't buying in, are joking around before games, and do not have the desire to be great.

I fully believe him. Hes right....even a fan can see it, and its apparent at practices too.

There is no reason a coach should have to be constantly motivating players. At some point, they need to have an inner desire to be great and settle for nothing less. Our team is weak in this area.

But heres the deal, Frost: time to stop talking about them namelessly in front of a podium and time to start benching their asses. Until there are real repercussions there will be no real change. This is getting irritating.

Furthermore, certainly some of these players are defenders with blackshirts. Are we going to allow them to keep wearing them? They dont care about them...until theyre gone.
Frankly, I dont think any of our defense deserves one. Not one of them. Let them fire each other up.
Not that this is high school or nothing but 30 years later I still recall my HS FB coach advising us all during practice that if we have a mental mistake and **** the bed on game - we would be riding the pine immediately. Even his best players and the QB. We were scared to death because expectations were clear. Not so sure these players feel that way? Bottom line for me - is the buck stops with the leader whether it be at work, home or on the field. If we ever showed disrespect to any other player on the opposing team or our own - u got pulled from the game and he almost Bo Schembechlered (sp) ya. Just saying I do t are - saw one of our DB’s flapping his gums on our sideline at an opponent players. Total BS. Play with respect and pride for yourself and others and the wins come from
Discipline and hard-asses work and never back down mindset. Sorry bro’s and bra’s just do not see it yet. We lost to F’in Indiana at home I am embarrassed for all of us and this lost team that puts a crap product on the Field. Not saying fire Frosty u D’bags - so chill out and take ur rose-colored glasses off. This team sucks and in total has put a pitiful product on the field and my HS would sit u until you straightened up.

Don’t forget to include Pelini. He hired mostly unqualified assistant coaches.

Frost is not the coach that many would like to think he is. After years of challenges he seemed like the perfect fit, and who better than a Nebraska boy. Rose colored glasses showed what he was doing at UCF and in hindsight that was just a special couple of years when all of the stars aligned. Milton played a huge role in those stars lining up. I am not saying that he is a bad guy at all, he was just hired under the premise of being a great head coach, while he was just a head coach with a couple of great years. It is interesting that he did not recruit many contributing UCF players but gets the credit.

Something that did not sit well with me was spelled out in the presser. He continually talks about players managing all of the little things in their daily lives and how they are doing better, yet he complained about them being complacent at warm ups yesterday, with some “ even wearing hoodies”. Now, if Frost did not want hoodies at warmups, that seems like the easiest thing in the world to solve. It really makes me wonder if the little things are really being managed.

Frost is a great guy and a good coach. I do not see him as being a great coach at all. In fact, I am not certain that he ever will be. Don’t flame me, just think about it while attempting to remove emotions.

He'll learn. We hired a young coach. He's going to have some growing ;pains. I'm just happy that we're in the process of rebuilding the program with a guy who gets it and will be with us for a long time.

I dont understand why we dont just put in the backups to the backups. If the 1st and some 2nd stringers aren't going to try or care then why play them? They may be less talented but I'd rather lose with effort. When you keep them in the game, you're rewarding the behavior
Please, please play the younger, more hungry players.

The alternate blackshirt uniforms should never again be seen....disgrace to the blackshirt tradition!

I'm wearing all black today but not in honor of our blackshirts but more in morning over the desinigrstion of a once great program. Disgraceful performance on defense when they were suppose to be honoring blackshirts

I can't believe frost lets any of the current team keep them since he knows the tradition.

How about this idea. The entire defense gets pink shirts. When someone proves they are worth a damn they move up to red. When they are excellent they get the black

Fully agree the Big10 is light-years tougher than UCF's conference. Way, wayyyyyy tougher.

Hang tough for awhile partner. I know that's easier said than done as it's rough on all of us. But above all else it's win with HCSF or we're down in the bottom of the bucket for a long, long, long time. We need to bring in more Callahans & Smiling Mikes like another hole in our head. As you know, he's a guy who listens & respects TO which is a very good thing. He's learning.....and yeah, he has his hands full to say the least now.

But he'll figure it out sooner or later (with our OLine it may take awhile)....but then we'll be very, very happy campers!!

It's all relative. If you feel that the the top end of the AAC is equal to the historically mediocre Indiana that is speculative. The AAC gets less money, resources and exposure. The recruiting classes are lesser per the services. However, the teams that play each other are in the same boat. So if you are getting similar talent, resources, money and exposure as the teams on your schedule you can clearly say the competition is competitive with each other. NU has recruited better than the teams they lost to and NU has way better support than those teams.

Frost is a brilliant X's and O's coach when he has the players. The problem is he has had a hard time adjusting to how bad our players are in certain areas. When things were going well at UCF he was a great playcaller.

Virtually any D1 coach looks great when they have great players. When things were going well at UCF he had great players. Great coaches can get 2 and 3 star athletes to perform at higher levels, both physically and emotionally. I am just saying that I am not sure that Frost is the answer when emotions are removed.

Yeah not jamming WR at line of scrimmage granting free release to get torched drives me nuts. (Then you're going to love them getting torched a lot more)

Frost is gonna have to be as critical of his staff as he is the players, so all coaches should be evaluated based on their performance. They can’t be exempt from the critique the players receive.

I’m not “quite” there yet to declare coaches need to be canned (although it’s getting harder to justify not making changes), but a lot of that is up to Frost knowing the inner workings and really diagnosing root causes.
In fairness to coaches, with the semi empty cupboard they inherited, it’s not fair to blame them until they have a chance to coach up their guys. On the contrary, they have enough talent on the roster to seemingly be better than they are.

I do think that we need to seriously consider spending a chunk to find some established guru who can recruit to take over at DC before the program falls any further beyond rock bottom.

His 9 win seasons felt more like 6 since we got absolutely clobbered when we lost. Pretty much a paper tiger under Pelini.
So true, lol. I always felt like he was closer to a 7 win team. Every year everyone get all their hopes up beating the easy teams (of course we lose those games now) and then getting absolutely whacked by anyone with a pulse.

How is changing practice jersey colors part of the tradition?

You're either 1st team defense or not based on how you graded out.

Here is my thoughts on this. I agree, I would rather have young guys playing at 100% balls to the walls and make more mistakes than to see these upper class men just going through the motions with little to no passion or heart. However Frost is here for the long term. He is planning for the future not the right now. He isn't looking for a quick fix. I believe he is saving as many young guys as possible so they can be RS and used for a full 4 more years. Im sure Frost knew deep down the odds of us doing much this year was slim. He is around these players every single day. He knows if they are/ have been bought it for awhile. So I think he is willing to use these upper class men as spot fillers for now. My hope is we see many new faces these last 4 games. Wisc and Iowa are games that would be huge to get wins on to finish out the year. Frost let the young guys practice up these last 8 games, now he can unleash them. At least that is my theory, will see if it is true or not. lol

Honestly I really just don't get it. Why do the players buy in at other schools to the extent that we get beat by teams that historically used to be also rans in the conference? There's no team in the B1G that can't beat us right now.

Why do many of our players play football if they don't care enough to play hard enough to win? Are they only interested in the scholarship so they can get paid to go to school and attend parties?

Coaches must be recruiting the wrong kind of kids with mediocre personalities is all I can figure out. And Frost has orchestrated a massive roster turn around in a short time frame we really can't blame Riley much longer.

And just how in the world could this staff have succeeded so fast at UCF and now appear to be so bad at Nebraska? Really a mystery to me because it's exactly the very same guys. Seems like they either can't coach or can't motivate a lot of the players (I guess it's both and the same thing).

Maybe because the expectations on those programs are so much lower, so they don't have the weight of those expectations weighing down on them. We fire coaches for 9-10 wins a year here...most other programs would be over the moon with those seasons.

Maybe the fan base should take a look in the mirror and buy in themselves? I trust the coach and HIS vision for HIS program (and the majority of you probably do too), but as he said a few weeks ago in a presser, there is no one that wants this turned around more than he does...maybe we should all fall in as well.

Florida fired their last coach after 9-10 wins and division titles each of his first 2 years. If Frost had taken that job and started 8-12, he would have already been fired.

Everyone here is willing to give Frost time. It doesn't mean he is free from criticism when we see the same mistakes over and over and over. I know ISU fans who criticize Matt Campbell after losses, even though he quickly resurrected that program from the dumpster. Welcome to Big Time College Football.

He recruited Milton, Anderson, Killins, Williams. Basically all the skill players minus Aikins and Smith. Also Hughes, their highest draft pick on D.
