Chin and O haven't done **** so far.Wallace was Lucas.
Well Cal better be getting some 3 point shooters or we will be worse than last season and wasting Oscar. That just means they are due. They would have gotten Nick Smith but Cal didn’t want to offend Skyy Clark and his family after his injury.
And seriously... 3 days ago everybody on here was bitching about Reeve’s not even being a top-100 portal player, Illinois State playing in a crap conference, blah blah. But now all the sudden if we don’t land him it’s some kind of massive failure? The kid wants to come here. If he doesn’t it’s because we passed.
Is Cal going to promise a guy like Scheierman that he'll be a starter? If not, he's in quite a bind and we're effed. You can sell opportunity, but the "A level" guys want a starting opportunity. They don't want to come in a sit behind guys like Wallace and Livingston. In my opinion Reeves reconsidering or having hesitation wouldn’t necessarily be the worst thing. We have 8 guys currently, 7 if you view Ware as a depth/very low minute guy. You can sell opportunity right now. I think there’s room for one more A level guy or 2 B/C level guys. I view Reeves as a B level. Give me Baylor S and some low minute depth guy or two and let’s ride.
Definitely possible. We benched a 5 star freshman last year and started one at the SG position. Could see it happening again. The good thing about Baylor compared to Reeves is he’s a Swiss Army knife. Big enough to guard small 4s and rebound. Good enough of a passer to play some point when people sag off Wheeler. Can play the wing as a scoring/shooting threat. A lot of ways for him to stay on the court. Is Cal going to promise a guy like Scheierman that he'll be a starter? You still denying you told me Oscar took the Porsche back because he was scared to drive it or you gonna confess?Cool story. You are welcome to believe whatever you would like. No sweat off my back.
What I like in those highlight reels is that Baylor is hitting shots that he can hit regardless of the competition. When you're hitting step-back jumpers and deep threes and fadeaway j's in the post, you simply possess skills that will translate anywhere. And I'm not sure the same can be said for Reeves.Definitely possible. We benched a 5 star freshman last year and started one at the SG position. Could see it happening again. Nick Smith knows he is better than Clark. I think , maybe, the uncertainty of Sharpes status is why Smith decided to go to Arkansas. Or, it may be as simple as that is his home state school and they are definitely on the upswing. That just means they are due. No he didn't and I don't think it means anything else is brewing.Sounds like he wanted some guarantees about playing time.So did this guy ever commit? Does this mean something else is brewing?

But we were recruiting them at this time last season. He hasn't yet....if there is now hesitation on this deal getting done, I hope it is on our side because we maybe have something else better brewing out there.
Time will tell!
Again, at this point last year, we didn't yet have Wheeler or TyTy.
Some people on Twitter were saying the hesitation was on reeves side about what his role may be, and I get your not going to be a player that avgs 20 ppg and want to go somewhere to come off the benchHe hasn't yet....if there is now hesitation on this deal getting done, I hope it is on our side because we maybe have something else better brewing out there.

and no doubt we are looking/recruiting others right nowBut we were recruiting them at this time last season.
I’m assuming the media jumped the gun and started the “committing this weeknd” rumors cuz Reeves stated he would make a decision around May 10th.So did this guy ever commit? Does this mean something else is brewing?
Maybe but we all knew that Tyty and Wheeler were being recruited.Nothing is public at UK recruiting anyone outside of Reeves right now.and no doubt we are looking/recruiting others right now
nothing was made public of Wiltjer eitherMaybe but we all knew that Tyty and Wheeler were being recruited.Nothing is public at UK recruiting anyone outside of Reeves right now.
So one player over Cal's years was a surprise? That doesn't bolster your argument.nothing was made public of Wiltjer either
bottom line most fans really have very little knowledge of all the players they contact
if you think the only players we know about are all the players that the staff looks at then you would be very naiveSo one player over Cal's years was a surprise? That doesn't bolster your argument.

not to mention TYTY was recruited very late for a 5 star recruit
because he was committed to Creighton, only when he opened up his recruitment did UK get involvedonly at the end
Depth is overrated.9 or 10 scholarship players. This stuff wears me out. Zero depth. Ever.
It's not when you have injuries...TyTy and Wheeler, remember? And one of those 9 or 10 is coming off of an injury and not playing for over a year. A full roster creates competition and flexibility. Both are positives.Depth is overrated.
You win with 7-8 typically playing 99% of the available minutes.
Right but those injuries are going to kill EVERY team. Citing those injuries as the need for depth presupposes that the guys that would replace them wouldn't be a significant drop off anyway. What player was UK going to have sitting on the back end of their roster that was going to come in and pick up the slack for either of those kids? People cite injuries as a need for depth but you're always going to lose something when an injury occurs. You're never, ever going to bring in someone off the bench anywhere near what you're replacing. It's not when you have injuries...TyTy and Wheeler, remember? That's simply not true. And it's not always about just replacing the starter that got injured. You've got to replace the guy that replaced the starter with someone. You can't just ask 6 guys to play 35+ minutes for long stretches of the season. That's extremely short-sighted. And again, it's only one piece to it all. Competition in the roster is a good thing, granted Cal doesn't seem to keen on allowing that.Right but those injuries are going to kill EVERY team. I agree with all of that. I thought the same. Thought, meh, not bad, but it doesn't really strike me as a top 5/#1 seed type roster. Lots of question marks. Also - I know its Tucker and he's sort of a clown - but based on the attitude around the program and around Cal...and based on most of the rosters that Cal has opened the season with I find it a little curious that Tucker looks at that roster as is - with just adding Reeves - and thinks "this is a really good roster."
Its solid. Its got Oscar - which is amazing but I don't look at that roster and think "damn, thats a tough out come March." There's potential there if Wallace is literally one of the top 3-4 Freshman and Toppin takes that next leap into being a major starter but on paper - on April 26th - thats not a "really good roster" in my opinion.

Thats true. I always just feel like people overrate depth. Winning takes talent and luck. Gotta be lucky enough to not have your starters hurt and sometimes that happens because you have the depth to not play them 35 mins a game all season. That's simply not true.
