First, I do say something when we lose. The talent we have had in the past 5 or 6 years we should have more state championships but some of you Raider fans like you Raider87 are so scared to say anything bc it might hurt the coaches feelings. Y'all just won't to sweep it under the rug saying we will be alright. If the offense stays the same we might lose to FV or Ashbrook or even Huss or Cramer.
I agree totally. That's my point when I said Devine could have added a few more state championships. He was more of a physical coach and being a former QB himself, he tried to establish a passing game. The 2003 team passed at will and was unstoppable. If there was time n the clock, Devine would find a way to score.

Mickey tried his best to run the offense during Devine's era just to take credit. Devine called a lot of plays. You don't remember him constantly getting bashed for running up scores. There is a reason coach Devine tenure was so short as head coach and it was due to politics just like this current team. I have followed the Raiders my whole life and played under Coach Tate while Devine was assistant. Take my word. There would be more state championship under Devine's leadership.

Can't say too much, because there isn't much to say that hasn't already been accurately identified.

Quick, hot take on GACO football and what the Macho Man sees:

CONF: I will have to break out 54 rape whistles just like every other year when Stuart Cramer begrudgingly shows up to play SP, and hand those out to the poor souls in purple, pink and silver. EG, NG, Ashbrook could combine teams and staffs and not beat SP....that's how bad the conference is.
We could take 3-4 of the tougher marching band members and put them at skill positions at this point in the season, and stay undefeated through the first round of the playoffs. HH will present some form of challenge. They finally have several good athletes after 3-4 years of having 1-2 total on the team they leaned on. I'm not even sure if LK Norman Charter has a team anymore. They may have folded into a Lacrosse team by now. FV does less with more than any team I've ever seen. They wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight.
The word out of Dallas is that when EG plays them they will just stop the game around mid 2nd and cook s'mores together out on the 50.

Out of CONF: The best way to describe that crest team is: they looked like a Chase team. Rulz is on suicide watch. Word is he just sits on one of those springy horses all day long, drools and shouts "I'm tough" at the cartoons on his 12" black and white TV he watches in his mom's basement. I thought Lincolnton would play better than they did. They have some legit talent. I thought they could have/maybe should have beaten us by 3 TDs with a call here or there going the other way. They didn't though...which has been the highlight of the year for me personally with this team. Shelby d-slapped us for four qtrs. and just got tired of doing it at some point. I felt like we were the victim in a snuff film.

I told you SOBs 3-4 years ago that the SP decline and doom was upon us in this year. Here it is.

If my memory serves me, Ralph predicted the demise to occur 2 years ago. Since then, a 4th round and a championship appearance has occurred. Should we tinker with the engine, we could still win it all this year. After that, 2a and some of our best middle school players coming up await.

No one will be calling Ralphy "Nostradamus" any time soon!

Reports are the tinkering is underway. Open week has come at a perfect time. No time to panic. Our staff has proven the last two years that they can and will adjust to maximize our talent. If offense picks up appreciably, our defense will be even better. Don't count these Red Raiders out yet!

Totally wrong sir. If you paid attention and don't re-write history, I said last year's group would be the one blip on the radar that would do something. The year prior to and after, we have trouble. That's been proven thus far. 2014 definitely went farther than I thought, but considering who we got in the playoffs we should have continued playing. If we catch a Concord and East Rowan team in later rounds like in 2014 maybe we go farther this year. Last year we had some favorable playoff matchups as well it should be noted, but the team was way better than in previous and this year's group.

2A will be kind to the Raiders, and perfectly timed. I love going back to the old SWC 3a conference. The GACO brand of football (and conference) is so bad, I don't think anyone around here remembers that every conference game used to a bloodbath. Now adays you figure you might get a close 7-10 point scare once a season in conference.

Yep you said it....wonder what SP will do on the defensive side of the ball next year, when Tate retires?

A man who remembers. Good, egfan....goooooood.
Yeah, not because of Stuart Cramer either. They take way more from ya'll than you do us. There is just a lack of overall talent present and coming up. Those who rely on the MS 'talent' coming through are being mislead. That group reminds me of Spencer's group/timeframe who did well in a weak MS era and never materialized at SP too far.

2a will be SPs and EGs friend for sure.

True, EG is already a 2A squad (and not a very good one right now). The numbers deal has really shown up this year (It depleted a talent pool that was small to begin with).

SP is a young team with some of their best athletes on the JV squad. Expect several of these up with the Varsity before the year is over. Will win conference this year, but State Championship will be tough. Get SP this year if you want a chance. Next years Raiders will be a load to handle. You heard it here first. Go Raiders and while we all have our opinions, we love the Raiders and the coaching staff.

I don't have a dog in this fight but will say I told you so....starting 0-4 we screwed that up 1-3. All I can say is don't blame Mickey and his cronies. SP does not have the horses as in the past. Be proud of and support Raider Nation. And by the way...don't ever call us out after this raider melt down:rolleyes:

9496. It would be OK for the Lions, Wolves, or Eagles to chime in, but the Charger nation should stand down. How can a Charger analyze or critique the development of the Raider nation. Great win against Draughn however.

Corndog everyone knows that the talent pool at SP is running dry. You have all the schools in county running spread and pro-style football. Kids don't want to play in that pop warner offense. This is why Georgia Tech is going downhill. Why in the world would a kid that wanted to play college ball play for SP. I give SP two more years of winning records and then they will be the North Gaston of the conference.

Wow you have, what now, 17 total posts and 15 of them are the same one. I believe the brain cell pool in your noggin has run dry. Meanwhile, even in an off year, SP just keeps rolling along. Let's just see how the mighty Huss and Cramer braintrusts fare this weekend.

Just posted on the other thread that SP JV thrashed SC JV 41-7 tonight. SC came in 6-0 in conference. Lot of talent on that JV team. Future looks good.
