Develop another QB and make a switch if there is no improvement in Art.
Stating the obvious. The same goes for every position so make sure you say that about everyone when someone mentions a player who is young and hopefully improves as they mature.

Art is our guy right now which is also stating the obvious.

Except that did not happen last year. Nobody was developed (namely, JL- bad move).

For the first time since joining the Big Ten we have the lowest rated class in the conference, yet everyone seems to be happy with this class here, what am I missing? Blind optimism?
All 3 transfers will either start or should see significant playing time. Lots of optimism for me

No other Big 10 team lost a player as valuable as their best Offensive Lineman to transfer, who was a senior Captain. Jonah Jackson. That really negatively impacts the already shaky Offensive line in a BIG WAY.
And we saw last year how our QB does under pressure..
I think our Oline is going to be worse than last year and that's scary.

Isn’t RU 50 overall and 11th in conference?

As of today the class ranks at #61
Wrong! Rivals football class rankings has RU rated at 50...Washington State is rated at 61! Man, next time please check your source before posting. Thanks.

Further, Maryland is rated at #73 and Illinois brings up the rear at #74

This is not a bad class especially considering the year we had - it all depends on what Ash and Co do this year with developing what we have,

ESPN has Rutgers at #66 and last in the B1G. Next worst was Illinois at #52. Kansas and Louisville are the only P5 schools lower than RU.

Of the six lineman signed, including offense and defense and DEs, FOUR OF THE SIX are TWO stars.
Thats a problem.

Ohio State is ranked #14. I knew the loss of Meyer and Schiano was going to have an affect but other on the board said no difference.

Ohio State going have to prove to the top recruits they are still on top of the Big Ten.

We're not recruiting to win the Big Ten we're recruiting to be respectable and competitive. We have to get there first. 20 3 star recruits isn't a bad way to get there.

We all can say stars don't matter[poop],all I care about is how long before we're Bowl eligible again,be it a lower tier bowl we would have turned our noses at back in the Schiano days. Long for the days we would see Rutgers scrolling across the bottom of the page when listing the Top 25 teams.:joy:

We closed fairly strong and, coming off of 1-11, it could have been way worse. Hardest nut to crack is getting some studs in the state to commit.
I think the worst is behind us . There has been a ton of suffering the last few years but hopefully everything starts moving upward now .

The elevator for Rutgers Football is going up. The stability at the top with the President, AD & HC is key and critical. This 2019 recruiting class plus the transfers is another important upgrade to the roster. This was a total rebuild of a football program from the day HC Ash was hired. Everyone has to stick with it and stick together. The B1G is a one tough conference. It's big boy football. No illusions here. The stability of the Assistant Coaches is key also. It's all about what you are building and where you are going. Looking in the rear view mirror just prevents you from moving and looking forward. Starting over again is not the answer. Let the other schools fire their HC's and start over. RU has great people in place. This is really an important time and clarion call for solidarity and support than ever before.

Great to have family members of the administration and/or coaching staff on the board! Refreshing breath of fresh air compared to the regular naysayers and negatoids that usually populate this board. Stay the course, Ash and Hobbs will deliver us to the promised land of a Pinstripe Bowl within the next five years, I can just feel it. Eye on the prize!!

“... stability of the Assistant Coaches is key also.”

You are a very, very funny man. Couple questions for you. How many position groups will have the same coach as in 2018? How many assistants have come through the Hale Center in a little over 3 years since Ash showed up from Columbus?

Total rebuild and the head coach loses 10 or 11 kids from his first two classes on, uh, character issues. Helluva way to rebuild. Total rebuild and the head coach has whiffed on h.s. and grad transfer QBs so badly that he has to end each season with a QB he inherited from the roster that he publicly and frequently bitched about.

Last place team in 2018 finishes with the last place Class of 2019. Seems more like the elevator is stuck in the basement until RU hires a head coach that knows the right button to push to go up.

Smaller class, their average star ranking is still top of Big Ten

I learned a long time ago you can't reason with a person that isn't capable of being reasonable. I'm done with your child like name calling behavior. I wish you well in your magical little world. Bye.

One thing about this class that is clear is there are far more good athletes who can run, than we have had in the last three years. Watching the highlight tapes generally does not project to much, other than it is obvious that there are a lot of kids that are very athletic and can really run, skills sets and technique can be taught, athleticism and the ability to move you either have or you don't.

Well said. We will find out soon enough if the decision to play all the freshman last year yielded the desired results. The way to build this program is to continue to be strategic and methodical with the longer term goal always in mind. A boatload of money is coming so let's be ready to take advantage of it.

Like he said. . . .

I think ESPN’s criteria is as follows:

-Are you alive? Yes- 2*
-Are you alive and have played football? Yes- 3*
-Are you alive, have played football and have won a game? Yes-4*
-Are you alive, have played football, have won a game and have at least one school from our main/P5 cotracted TV partner conferences showing interest in you? Yes- 8*

maybe winning a game in the B10 would be a good start?
Rutgers and Northwestern only two schools in B10 not to land at least one (1) Four star in this class.
