Its natural for fans to wear the rose colored glasses when talking about players.
You are %100 correct. Our fans believe that Ron and Geo are more talented than they are. It appears that Paul is reverting back to old Paul. We lack pure shooters and guards that can break down a defense and create havoc. We also lack a legit 4 that can score and rebound.

Pike gets a 115M training facility, a great home crowd, and a supportive leadership team. But he still can’t recruit better.
Are you suggesting he doesn’t show recruits our practice facility when they come for a visit? Be specific, in your opinion what could he do to improve recruiting?

You cant have one dimensional players in the Big 10.
Miller needs to be able to have an offensive game but the kid can play defense and damn well.

That defense of his was why we played well in the 2nd half when Paul was out of the lineup

Miller is not going to be a cornerstone for the team but I think it’s a lot easier to improve on offense then defense.

How? What do you think he’s not doing? Unless you’re in the room you or anyone else including me have no idea what else can be done to close the deal.
Didn’t Pike literally say he likes under-recruited kids that embrace the challenge?

He needs to close the deal with top recruits. Any successful organization is successful because of their sales ability to deliver, and Pike has yet to do that
He’s done a helluva sales job getting enough talent committing to RU after being a completely irrelevant basketball program for the better part of 30 years.

Really if Jalen Miller could give us 4 points a game, we would be fine. He’s not even trusted to take a single shot.
Jalen played a hell of a defensive game today. However, we are playing with 4 and a half players when he’s on the court. He didn’t blatantly hurt us on offense much but we stick him in the corner half the time and the other team knows he won’t shoot. That messes up the entire offense and his defender can now help in the lane. Unless the kid is a Dennis Rodman, a division 1 player has to be able to shoot.

Here we go again with a psycho babble about how it's been tough for 30 years before Pike... Irrelevant on total BS as his recruiting classes the last two years have been horrible.... Maybe decent for Stony Brook but not for the B1G

2016: 6-25 / 1-17

Enter Pike

2017: 15-18 / 3-15
2018: 15-19 / 3-15
2019: 14-17 / 7-13
2020: 20-11 / 11-9 *tournament (if held)
2021: 16-12 / 10-10 *tournament
2022: 16-12 / 10-8 *in the hunt

There is no reasonable metric by which this is not successful so far. You can worry about future bad results because of your perception of recruiting, that's fine, but the actual results that have actually happened so far are as good as anyone could reasonably have hoped for in 2016.

Our depth is horrific

Recruiting a major issue
I'll be VERY curious to see what happens in the 23 and 24 classes. NJ is STACKED the next two years. Four players in the top 25 for 2023 and 3 in the top 30 for 2024 plus another in the top 10 for 2024 out of the Bronx

Listen we're all hoping he gets it done, as we're all rooting for the same team our alma mater. Half of us don't think it's going to happen, and the other half does. The half that does goes after the half that doesn't with tremendous animosity and dissdain, like I've said it's like Pikes Gestapo contingent....the Pike-eez going after people like myself and the other half that think is recruiting is substandard.

Because he's already gotten good results with similar level recruiting. All these portents of future doom are not helpful or interesting or based on any particular knowledge of anything. Let the man actually lose the games before you crucify him.
What is this, I don't get it at all?

Wow. A lot of crap in this post. He’s been successful with “ under recruited “ guys in general. So far we absolutely should be supportive because the results have been stellar all things considered. I agree that we’ve not done well with our top targets. So what happens going forward ? Chances are we don’t stay we are forever. A borderline ncaa team. A year like this was/ is important because it shows continued progression. Ups and downs but hopefully more ups and eventually the kids buy in. More down years and the recruits won’t follow. I for one hope he manages to get it done. No one is perfect. We’re competing amongst the best

So you think that’s the ceiling of Rutgers MBB? There is no room for Pike to improve?

This is his most experienced team by far. Frankly more experienced than the vast majority of teams going to the dance. They had a wonderful four game run were they knocked off top 20 opponents, and after that they're 0-3. The only consistent thing about Pike this year is his teams inconsistency and this is with his most experienced team....sorry but there are many like me that don't see this as a positive thing moving forward and his best and most experienced players are graduating and he has yet to show he's a home run recruiter. I hope he proves me wrong and I need a ton of crow..... But sadly I doubt it.

Can Pike fans look forward rather than look backward? We no longer practice or play in a place that had no AC. We no longer have a president who doesn’t give a **** about sports. We are on the right track to make something big. Shall we raise the expectation for our basketball team?

People have raised expectations but people are also realistic. I expect to be in this scenario every year where we are at least playing meaningful basketball in the last week of the regular season. Do I want more? Absolutely, but people need to realize that all of this takes time. We're not going to be a Final Four team overnight. We're building it the right way. Look at Northwestern. They had one good year and are back in the basement. I'll take meaningful, exciting basketball any day

Building the right way, when 1/2 the players on the team aren't worthy of being on the court in this league... How is that building the right way
