He's a damn lot better than what we've had.... So many on this board think that and that's such a loser mentality.
The best ideas any of the anti-Pike people have had are to fire him and hire:He's a damn lot better than what we've had.... So many on this board think that and that's such a loser mentality.

Pike's recruiting started off great. Guess what? He hasn't landed anyone since Cliff. That was the start of the pandemic. You guys are potatoes that think he can't recruit. Cliff was a massive win. Paul is a kid that usually plays for Notre Dame. Another massive recruiting battle. Mathis was a huge win at the time too. Then he develops kids. We are Rutgers, not sure what some of you are expecting. He's the best basketball coach we have arguably ever had.

Well yes, but I don't actually possess the technology to do that, sorry to disappoint you.You said I should be shot into the sun, so bring it on.
Jaden Jones committed before Cliff.Jaden Jones was nobody?
Did it? Who were the great recruits pre Cliff? Our recruiting classes were ranked near the bottom of the Big Ten every year except Cliff's year.Pike's recruiting started off great.

And just as a sidenote, when someone says obviously impossible things like "shot into the sun" as opposed to more realistic violent actions that is supposed to reinforce the tongue-in-cheek nature of the thought. I don't literally support violent action against you to rid us of your terrible posting.

Jaden Jones committed before Cliff.
Try again. He's the class after, but committed before.
You tell me... What's his average points per game and will he will he be on the team come AugustJaden Jones was nobody?

JY had two seasons at Texas before he transferred hereThe Harper class was a solid class.
Harper was a four star.
Mathis was a four star.
Shaq Carter was a solid sought after Juco.
and Caleb was a nice late addition. Underrecruited yes, but he was the fourth guy in the class.
I believe Jacob Young also sat out their freshman year too (transfer). I'm not positive, so correct me if I'm wrong.
So yeah, it was definitely better than what has gone in since Cliff committed. Also, the first year Pike was here, he brought in CJ Gettys as a grad transfer at the center position. I seriously can't believe our depth at the 5 position this year. Frankly, that's unacceptable.

You can go by class rankings all you want, but that really doesn’t tell the whole picture. That 2020 class is ranked 32, but it’s rated that high because of 1 massive impact player. Qualitatively it’s undeniable that recruiting has been pretty weak since we landed Cliff. I’m not bashing Pike, but this is why we’re in the position we’re in. Our roster has holes. Most teams have holes on their roster. That’s okay, but ours are currently hurting us in a massive way, and they will be even bigger next season if we don’t have a great off season. Pike has pulled it off before. I think he can do it again. That class (2018) was #51 national / #10 B1G by TOS
2017 #63 / #10
2018 #51 / #10
2019 #126 / #13
2020 #32 / #4
2021 #98 / #13
2022 #73 / #11 (not complete)
Eh.
There's no real trend here. I get that people were hoping the 2020 jump would last but it's hard to argue we've brought in significantly less talent 2020-22 than 2017-19.
Rivals doesn't provide class rankings as readily but yes I'll grant 2018 being fairly solid.
I think you're misunderstanding my argument though. You can go by class rankings all you want, but that really doesn’t tell the whole picture. Reiber, Palmquist, Miller, AgeePlease tell me who is and isn't worthy of playing in the B1G
Reiber, Palmquist, Miller, Agee
So much tougher to ”close deals” when Pike runs a clean program. We don’t have “bag” men like so many programs do. Put Pike on an equal playing field and I like our chancesClose the deal with his top targets.. Does it get any more basic than that.
So silly to make a prediction now about our team next year or anyone else for that matter. Have to see who comes back, what the portal brings, how the newcomers play. Let it play out. If we bomb next year then by all means then would be the time to question Pike.1 year from now what will you predict our record will be in conference
Our two most well rounded offensive players are 4-29 from 3 the last 3 games. He has done the unimaginable in a very short time here
He has made us relevant
He is the right man for the job
Pyke will have to evolve as a coach in my opinion beyond what he is now to continue with the success that we have had over the last three years
He is stubbornly focused only on the defensive side of the ball
Look no further then Jalen Miller
He gets minutes even though it is as if we are playing 4v5 on offense
Pyke will have to recognize the importance of having a few well rounded offensive players
He needs to embrace the 3 more
We shut down Jonny Davis yesterday
We played great defense
If we had a few more reliable scorers
Consistent scorers
We win easily
We lose are two most well rounded offensive players after this year
Pyke better find some or we take a big step back
I'm not misunderstanding your argument at all. You're saying recruiting was not good to begin with and that's simply false. Again, Pike brought in Harper, Mathis, McConnall, and Shaq Carter all in the same class. He also brought in transfers such as Yeboah and Jacob Young for that 2019-2020 team.I think you're misunderstanding my argument though.
I'm not saying the recruiting, as measured by recruiting services, has been good since Cliff. I'm saying that for the most part it wasn't good (again, as measured by recruiting services) before Cliff either.
So if you believe that whatever process allowed Pike to put together the 2019-20 team is repeatable then there's no particular reason to panic about our current recruiting, even if we do acknowledge that we'd all like to have more Cliff-level recruits.
I agree the recruiting rankings are flawed, but if you aren’t relying on them then what are you using to decide that our 2022 recruits aren’t good enough? The only post-Cliff commit who is actually here is Jalen Miller, and for a freshman he seems perfectly fine.I'm not misunderstanding your argument at all. You can post the recruiting rankings all you want, but those things are flawed. The sample size is too small. Recruiting has dropped off massively. Since Cliff, he has not brought in an impact player or anyone who deserves starting minutes. Qualitatively, that's not difficult to figure out. You can lie to yourself and say otherwise, but this really isn't a debate.
Palm has been in the program for 3 years. He hasn’t developed into a player who can play significant minutes. Time is up. Show him the door. Miller can go to. This is the B1G. There is no spot for a player with his extremely limited skill set. It’s 4 on 5 offensively with him in the game. Reiber also looks like a mid major talent at best. This is the B1G.Reiber has developed into a player who would come off the bench for plenty of teams.
Palmquist we'll see after continued development. Not everyone sees the floor for major minutes on every team
Miller is a defensive sparkplug which every team needs and again continued development (which Pike has delivered in spades) will be key
Agee has been a great teammate/locker room guy but I agree there the play hasn't been up to snuff. Got some good minutes in a few games but well worth taking a flyer on him considering it was a one year commitment

The entire supporting class with Cliff is also nothing special.I agree the recruiting rankings are flawed, but if you aren’t relying on them then what are you using to decide that our 2022 recruits aren’t good enough? How do you know? You just got done telling me I shouldn't look at Caleb McConnell's recruiting rankings. So why should I put any stock in the rankings of our 2022 class? You are not self-consistent.2022 does not have enough teeth on it either.
Jones is a unknown player until he proves that he can perform in a power conference.Coach Pikiell obviously doesn't think he was ready this season which is alarming with the lack of scoring from the bench.Jaden Jones was nobody?
I’m the CEO of 17 companies and own 22 penthouses. Also I am very well liked by all people. And I have a harem.

That is what you say when you do not land the top recruits.Didn’t Pike literally say he likes under-recruited kids that embrace the challenge?
