At least Partridge didn't have a kid of his own to ***** out to Harbaugh. The others all apparently did.

The NCAA is going to have to crack down on these "analysts" type roles. A team with a ton of revenue can use it to fund these types of roles which are really just more coaches.

Actually, the proposed rules only disallows it for coaches who have kids coming out in 2 years or less. Also this coach does have NFL and high level FBS coaching experience so it's not like he hired some bum just because he has a 5* kid (although I won't kid myself that it's not a reason).
That list is stupid as well. Pretty sure every coach hires coaches to help them recruit a certain area/school . At least they should and the only direct relation on that list is a guy who's son is Michigan's BACKUP fullback as a senior. I actually prefer this than paying kids directly to attend. At least it's technically legal.

Hiring the parents of a recruit you want, is just a way for schools to pay money for an elite recruit in a legal way as oppose to using bag men to pay the parents under the table. Since the NCAA is hot garbage, they never closed this loophole. But I think that might change soon.
Agree. This is what we're up against. Partridge was in our backyard. Now, he may have played us anyway for the Michigan job but we let him walk away apparently because other HS coaches didn't like him.
I can't get mad at it if it is within the rules...I just wish we had the cash and balls to do the same things
The problem is, Rutgers would not have reaped the benefits of Partridge like Michigan did. Because we aren't Michigan. And in the end, it would have been detrimental as many of the high profile football schools sided against Partridge even before he left PC. So that would have worked against Rutgers in regards to relationships with high school programs and recruiting.

This is accurate. Whats the difference between giving Cecil Newton a bag of case or giving him a job as an analyst for the football team to land Cam Newton.
Been going on for a least a century. That's what competition does, whether it's team sport or an individual sport, pushing the envelope to get an edge draws criticism if it affects others and praise if it means winning at the highest level.

Im sure he got paid, a lot of guys get paid, but its done in ways the NCAA cant crackdown.
