I didn’t look specifically, but seems Gabe Irvin would have been Grant’s backup at Buford- reuniting.

Well, the 2022 season is going to be very hard to predict in the pre-season with the departures and arrivals of players and coaches.

On paper it seems like they should be better and of course with last year's record it would hard to be worse. BUT until Frost proves he can win in the BIG at Nebraska I will remain a team supporter but one that also is skeptical of on the field results until I see the major improvement proven.

Getting the #1 JUCO RB is great, but does anyone know why his offer list is so bad?
I think it's a good question.. I don't know the answer, but as others have said, probably more emphasis on portal players before JC players.

I thought it was interesting that at like week 4 last year, Bell was the leading rusher in the nation. We got him through JC I believe, and he didn't amount to much here, but at a new place, all of a sudden he was having success. Last year Frost certainly wasn't doing our running backs any favors with his play calling.

Back to Grant, I guess the reason for JC is usually grades or something.. I'm not really sure I want or care to dig into it. Changing schools or going the JC route gives guys a second or third chance at things. He's got 2 years of eligibility and also a redshirt available and his film looks good.

It doesn't mean we will see more production out of the offense from that position, but I'm hopeful that Whipple is at a minimum bring a positive influence to the offense.

I think grades might be the issue as well. No inside, just have read some tidbits in other areas.

This is a great get for Nebraska.

Here is some nice JC Hudl film of Grant.. kind of runs like a guy with his hair on fire!

His running style reminds me of Emmitt Smith, not a burner but relies on patience and great vision. Now if we could just get an O-line like Emmitt had to run behind...

Well, call me confused by most everything surrounding this kid. He obviously had the grades to qualify since he went to Florida State his freshman year. The next question is why did he leave and go CC? Then I have a hard time following all of this. His highlights show New Mexico Military CC and most bios indicate Garden City CC. Yet no film from GCCC so I wonder if he even played there. It could be his grades after he arrived on campus were not kept up but somewhere along the way, he must have got them done as he is going to enroll. This is all pretty strange but I am sure there is an explanation, I just don't know what it is.

It really is a big question mark why he doesn't have more offers. I have read there were 3 or 4 depending on what you read/see reported. Is this another athlete we are taking a chance on?

I wonder what is going to happen to CC football. It was a stop gap for athletes who didn't have qualifying scores and grades or who were not there physically yet. Some schools are suspending qualifying ACT/SAT and GPA scores for various reasons, race is one of those.
