Outstanding...so-o-o happy for Ron. There were so many post-game press conferences the last five years where reporters seemed to be trying to stir the pot about something RHJ did or didn't do in a given game. Pike would look down at the table and basically, nicely say to the reporter(s) that they did not know what they were talking about...that Ron had played a good game and done pretty much what the coaches had asked him to do. I think we are always quick to think that this was just Pike protecting his players...maybe. But, maybe, just maybe, Ron's a pretty good player and a pretty smart guy! Go RHJ! Go RU!

I believe a two way guarantees him half the minimum salary of the NBA and games played in the NBA are prorated to the actual minimum if he makes it to that point. He can only be called up for a certain allotment of games under this particular contract.

Happy for him, i was worried watching these summer league games. He looked very timid and it didnt help the second someone on the team they tried to go one on one or just pull up whenever they got an inch of breathing room. Ron is capable to hit the three anywhere on the court and is an able body in rebounding. He will need to work heavily on his foot speed as i watched him get blown by a lot.

Those same people were also saying he'd never make a G league team either...lol. So we shall see.

Since you asked for an NBA expert - I'll chime in.

1. As pointed out above, he's not on an NBA roster. This is basically a training camp invite. Looking at the makeup of the Raptors roster and salary situation, it's unlikely he'll make the roster out of training camp. However, he has a chance. Also, he'll have the ability to play his way up in the G-League at a minimum.

Raptors currently have 12 players with guaranteed contracts and their 2nd round pick is expected to be #13. That leaves 2 spots on the final roster among many candidates.

2. I won't speak for myself, but he was never in doubt of making a G-League team or being invited to Summer League.
Anyone who said that isn't an NBA expert. Anyone who said RHJ wouldn't even make a G-League roster are just as un-informed as the people saying he was going to be a 1st round pick the last 2 years or next year if he returned.

3. I will speak for myself and I repeatedly said RHJ was likely late 2nd round to undrafted based on all reports and information available. That is exactly what happened.

Nick, i couldn’t find much online but it does seem his contact is NOT guaranteed. Please confirm for the sake of curiosity.

4. I am a loser for watching any NBA game not involving Ron Harper Jr.

Interesting, the revisionist history posted by other posters. Your #2 and 3 are exactly what I read here repeatedly. I think most people thought he'd be a late 2/UFA and a G-league guy. I know I did, and I'm no NBA expert.

So the NBA only allows 2 of these positions per team. Seems to me they are very happy with college basketball being used as the farm system for the NBA. I find it disappointing that the NBA takes this position of basically holding back the earning power of potential pro athletes.

I'd assume these 2 slots per team are always filed by every team. If there were 5 slots per team you'd have 90 more players getting paid and not using college basketball as a unpaid (until now) minor league.
