Time for Pike and Co. to back up Pike's words. If this his best team ever, ride the road victory at Whisky and the historical run of ranked wins by an unranked Rutgers, and give me hell in Mackey.
Hey, we'd all love to see it. And yes, we all hope we've broken through. But I need more than one big road win to convince me we can beat a top 5 team in their building.

Who exactly is Raphael Davis messing with? So you believe the team is listening to this nonsense? Don’t think so as it doesn’t fit the type of attitude this current team projects either on or off the court. These players understand quite well the reasons you win and lose games especially on an away court. Pikiell has instilled this in them and it is one of the great things he has done these past 3 years. It is going to be a very tough game to win at Purdue. If RHJ is close to 100% then our chances get somewhat better.

Have people forgotten our road struggles over the last few years?
Q: What does last year or the year before have to do with this team and how they are playing right now?

A: Not much at all.

Purdue is very good. But so are we. Can’t wait til 5:30 on Sunday!

Who's talking about last year? What's our record on the road this year?

This core of players has not done well managing success last 3 years. A ranking was bad news. Maybe third time is the charm as they have been there before.

Pretty sure you said “the last few years.” If you didn’t, my apologies.

My point is we are playing elite basketball right now and we are confident. We can win at Purdue.
The last few years includes this year. I hate that it now seems I'm arguing against RU, as I'm not. I think we've got a shot tomorrow and I've allowed myself to dream. But it's still a longshot.

Not even close to being a long shot if you have watched Purdue the last 4-5 games and watched Rutgers the last 4-5 games. The only thing they are lucky to have is the game is being played on their home court. That is it.

Well let me see… 2020 20 wins in a shortened covid season….2021 another 20 plus wins NCAA birth… 2022 16 wins and counting but playing consistent team oriented basketball . An experienced group who follow their leader and actually believe that this type of sharing the basketball , playing tough D and hitting the boards can win against anyone. Your post just doesn’t hold water . Better take another poll.

Seems to me that they went on a mini losing streak as soon as they cracked the top 25 in 2019-20 and had to sweat some late wins to secure a berth. And similar pattern last year as soon as the national hype machine started to notice them then went on a slump. How is that wrong? I agree that they are a very experienced bunch and it might be different this time. That’s why I said that in my OP on this. Also, you don’t hold water! 💩

He is trying to mess with us. Don’t believe him
Knows Rutgers historically has struggled when they get a big head and listen to the media..... or.....

This. We have been on fire and Purdue hasn't looked so great. We have also beaten Purdue 4 times in a row!

This includes @ Purdue last time we played there so pretending we somehow can't win on their home court isn't a thing.

Exactly. It doesn’t matter what a team did 2 years ago, last year, or in November, for that matter. Players and teams change and develop within a season.

What really matters is how these two teams are playing right NOW.

Eagleton all due respect here. Rutgers somehow did that in 2020-2021 not 2019 -2020… there was no tournament in 2020. If there had been one in 2019-2020 we would have been in first time in 33 years.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say. I think we are talking about different things. Previous two years we went on mini slumps after getting our first taste of national recognition. Let’s hope we bank those experiences and it does’t happen now.

pointing out that we ultimately pulled out of those slumps and had good seasons doesn’t negate what I’m saying.

Do you realize many elite type teams suffer mini losing streaks during a successful season. Not for me to explain that to you .

Women also play Purdue tomorrow - currently on a two game win streak, would be great to beat the Boilers twice in the same day.

No… we are talking about the same things. This is a new season … and each season is a different story to write… this is a new , more experienced Rutgers MBB team and they have another opportunity but they need to continue to have more wins than losses if they are to make the show.

What if you watched Purdue all season and Rutgers all season?

Again, you must have what I’m saying confused with someone else. You statement is not in conflict with mine.

GRF, you used to be so much more positive. You need to let yourself believe. It's much more fun when you win and it doesn't even hurt that much more when you lose.
I am having a great time with the season. I am programmed to look at things objectively and rationally. It is absolutely crazy how people are taking 4 games and saying we are now better than Purdue.
