This.I am late to the post and was actually answering the OP, but between you and I, I am not sure how it was fair that Tebow is penalized but supporting BLM is not.
I frankly prefer it done the way the English Premier league does it. Both teams stand for the anthem and then take a knee right before the opening kickoff. When done that way, there is zero question what they are kneeling for, and they are not causing controversy with the folks who don't like anthem kneeling. When it is all said and done, there are always better ways to support your cause. Pissing off a lot of Cat fans who disagree with kneeling during the anthem, is never going to help your cause. EVER!!
Ppl like @bkingUK keep acting as though the only answer is racism. Most those same people feel just as strongly about people not removing their hats or talking through it. I’ve seen people strongly corrected for that. You can say “they said it’s not about the country or military” but now you’re telling them how they should feel about the flag and anthem. While that side is telling you “it isn’t about the issue they are protesting but how”. You don’t get to tell other people how to think and it doesn’t invalidate either sides view just bc you don’t feel the same way about a flag and anthem.
If You’re trying to unify it’s best to not use a divisive means and shock value to make the message. If you truly cared about the message you’d want it to be received and not misinterpreted. If you do it the way the premier league does then it only leaves one topic to be discussed.
It’s communication 101.
