No offense but I think you’re strictly immersing your opinion of what you think his Father thinks. Quite a reach man.
None taken. There are numerous articles of how his father believes playing basketball gets in the way of his faith. Only recently has he accepted his NBA aspirations. Had never watched him play on TV until January this year and never in person. He found a Lexington church before he commited to UK. So going to an overseas culture with different faith and possibly no church around that meets his faith is something I just don’t see him being okay with. I could be wrong and that’s okay but it’s my opinion based on the facts I’ve seen.

The concept of being patient in all things has been proven to me for decades. It's always wise to operate by the axiom, "patience is a virtue." It literally puts money in your pocket, permits you to be properly trained, and lets things work in a more logical and natural manner. Why rush things based on a few myths, one being "weak draft" or "career-ending injury?"

He would be well-suited to return, let really good guys make him look good, and hone his skills that will most assuredly put him in the top-30 first round guaranteed money crowd.

He's ready and his stock is good enough for him to be a 1st round pick.

You snapped back a few months ago in a Kansas thread where Kansas was getting blistered. You told people to “relax”. Are you a Kansas fan? The first three times I asked, no reply. No denial.

But Steph Curry does? Yall are so stuck in the 90's. He's perfect for the modern day NBA.

Steph Curry and IQ?

Two different worlds. I love IQ but he does have anything on Curry...like nothing. Curry is one of the best dribblers and passers on the planet. Oh and he is probably the greatest shooter ever at least in modern era.

Doesn't mean IQ won't or shouldn't leave but in order for him to make it in the NBA he is gonna need to be a PG IMO. He could do it at UK and potentially become a first round pick next year or wind up a 2nd round pick either way. Or he could just leave and try and develop via G League or overseas. His call.

I was talking about size and athleticism. People said he doesnt have the size and athleticism for the NBA when he absolutely does. Maybe i should have used Seth Curry to keep people from freaking out. Seth Curry, the 6'2 combo guard with average athleticism who just signed a 4 year 32 million deal. Donovan Mitchell is 6'2, CJ McCullum is 6'3, JJ Reddick is 6'3. Being a 6'3 combo guard will not keep him from the NBA.

He's a UNC fan. He used to go on UNC's boards and trash us. I still don't know why mods allow him here, but oh well. People engage and keep feeding him.

So there is no place willing to pay him? It’s the NBA or he’s doomed for all eternity?

He can play ball. He’s got options. He knows them. He’s 19.

You may have forgotten, but at that age, everyone over 25 is ancient and they are brain dead in the eyes of a teen. Now you can read minds. You should know this.
Way to twist my words.

Where exactly did I say he would never play ball beyond college? He certainly can, but it doesn't appear to be in the cards for him RIGHT NOW.

Put your hall monitor badge down sometimes, it will help you to not look uninformed.

So many of you Pumpers feel the need to lie and fabricate crap to make your point, I've never had to do that.

I tend to agree. I don’t think he will ever really “make it” in the NBA but I definitely think he can go to Europe or Australia, Italy etc and make a very solid $150k so maybe that’s his line of thinking?
I agree, but before he just leaves his family to go play in Italy, at least exhaust all options here at home first.

Why throw in the towel now with 2 more years of college eligibility left? UK us the best college program for developing kids to reach the NBA and stick there, why wouldn't you milk that cow dry before you move on to something else?

In a lot of ways, Quickley is like Doron Lamb, in regards to his situation. Both lack size and athleticism, both were good shooters/scorers. Quickley is a better defender. Lamb ultimately couldn't stay in the league. But he was smart to go when he did, because he was never going to improve his athleticism. Quickley might be smart to leave, if he can get guaranteed money.

What a JOKE. You've never had to twist stuff to make a point? I took you off ignore the other day and watched you ask why any player would come here since we only shoot 5-8 3's a game. A poster quickly corrected you that we shoot around 13 3's a game and you blew him off. What a joke, Jeff. Just shamefully smug behavior. Back to ignore. You'll never change.

This is an easy answer. What if he comes back to play PG and is only good but not great? His draft stock could go lower than the current SEC POY.

Also, if he goes undrafted, he can still sign with an NBA team as an undrafted free agent, play in the G League and make six figures and not have to worry about school.

Lots of kids would take that in a split second.

And someone always takes it too seriously. But yeah I believe Quickley is gone.

Ah, you're still mad that I made fun of you for your smarmy comment "Cal's teams always get better in March" when we were down 18 to Florida............when you thought we were going to lose. [laughing] Stay smarmy.

You thought we were beaten, made a smart allec post that "Cal's teams always get better in March", your buddy Morgue made a smart comment thinking we lost as well, you too told yourselves that you were smart and then POOF you were both gone 20 minutes later after we won. [laughing] I laugh every time I see your thick necked convict avatar. Carry on. [roll]

Quickley will go, but he should come back. He should prove he can lead a team as the primary PG and have a shot at the first round. Right now he is a second round pick at best. He has a chance to improve his stock.

Richards should leave and will leave. I doubt his stock gets any higher. He has his degree. No reason to stay.

Montgomery should return, but will leave. He could improve his stock with a good season. He won’t even get drafted. His dad has made it pretty evident that he is gone.

That's about like comparing Nick Richards to Anthony Davis. No knock on Nick at all, but the comparison is pretty fat out there. AD is taller, a better shot blocker, rebounder, and far better overall than Bill Russel ever was, and Russel was one of the best NBA players of all time despite his limited offensive skills.

russell averaged 23 rpg

LOL he is not a 1st rounder. He at best is a top 40 pick . And I think he will be lower then that. BUT it can be argued he won't be better next season not with Boston , the guy I think will win NPOY or at the very least SEC POY , and Clarke playing with him so he might want to leave. He shouldnt but that is the thinking if he leaves.

He ain't a first round pick. Hell looking over more then 10 mocks last week he was undrafted in more then drafted and only 1 had him in the first round .
Sadly, it doesn't matter if these kids are first round picks or not.

There was a string of games where that was all we shot. And I certainly did respond to Cawood about that.

UK ranked near the very bottom of D1 in 3pt attempts last season. That is a fact.

There are a lot of "what if's" and in life, there are always risks with everything you do. IQ showed enough last season to give him the confidence to bet on himself.

Overseas money will always be there, but the real money is in the NBA.

Why wouldn't you at least exhaust all options before you bag it and head overseas? It just makes no sense to leave now and risk going undrafted when you still have 2 years of eligibility to try to get a contract. Other players his size have done it, so it's not unheard of.

If he was your son, what would you say to him? If he was my kid, I would tell him to stay the course at UK and build on what he did at the end of last season.

Quickley is a good college player. He's not an NBA player, just like Myles Powell, who is the same size and both are showing late second round and more guys are entering their names daily.

If we can't even get IQ back to UK after 2 years, we're never going to have a veteran roster in the Cal era.

There's an excellent chance your last sentence is pure truth. May also be applied to having an accomplished roster with all positions filled.

Don't know how are why but he still winds up with pretty good teams.

All of which is pretty much irrelevant as we were in contention at the end, having lost only 6 games in the regular season. Apparently the three pt strategy was effective.

That said, I am again humbled by your prowess at dumping on the University Of Kentucky Men’s Basketball team. The most successful team in history. In spite of that, you masterfully plaster the Cats in crap day after day. I know fans dressed in red all over the state applaud your expertise

But he’s not your kid. He’s 19. What you think, say or spew is the epitome of irrelevance. That overseas money is compelling which accounts for why SO MANY US players go that route. This is not unheard of. Kids are not necessarily making a mistake. And Daddy Jeffy’s advice to the team is laughable and completely pointless.
