Quickley is the best outside shooter on the team seems he has earned a starting role.

Start Hagans, Maxey, Brooks, EJ,
Nick. IQ, Sestina 1st off bench, then
as game dictates ( fouls, matchups,
sub patterns etc..) give a few minutes
to others and minutes will depend
on play. Don't want players hitting
the proverbial wall come tournament.
Seems to me the team that finishes
well come NCAA time are the fresher
teams.

That lineup got us off to a great start yesterday.

Seems as though we start every game slow and beginning of 2nd half slow.
Just suggesting a game management plan. Not sure the answer to starting slow, but don't want IQ, Sestina picking up early fouls. Most teams come at us fired up, let that early adrenalin wear off then bring in IQ and Sestina.

Quickley has to start, end of story. We need that offensive spark. I don't know why Cal rides him more than anyone. He makes 1 mistake Cal is on him so hard, but Ashton makes like 40 before Cal says something. I don't know why Cal won't start him. Our opening offensive efforts today was abysmal.

Quickley has to Start. End. Of. Story.

Start or not, does NOT matter!!!!
He gets starter minutes (28.8)
Minutes are what matter.
End of Story.

You, me, none of us know these players, like Cal does. Maybe Hagans can’t take being rode, maybe Quickly responds well to that, we don’t know. We need all 3 of those guards (and others) to play well.

Really doesn't matter which guards start, they're all going to get heavy minutes....one of them will get SF minutes because Brooks and Whitney aren't getting it done.

I'd start Sestina over EJ....he's shooting 35% from 3 pt and 91% from the FT line. EJ is atrocious from the FT line...and amazingly, has only shot 11 FT's all year. He should have double that just on offensive rebound put backs. Alas, we have no other choice for EJ's minutes because Brooks and Whitney are not ready to contribute at this level.

I know I'm dreaming, but a healthy Dontae Allen could make a world of difference in this team. Would give us an athletic wing with size who can shoot and help our spacing. Had hoped Juzang could fill that role but apparently he's not ready either.

If that's the case, why not start 5 bench guys then come with the starters after the adrenaline wears off.

Well there is a novel idea, how did you come up with that. You must watch a lot of basketball, just kidding.
Just seems to me that most teams start slower because of being dialed in at the beginning of games, but as the game progresses, the teams that are in better shape physically and have good depth will pull away. Maxey already looks tired especially as the game wears on. So, not starting IQ gives a better rotation as game wears on. No doubt the 3 guards and two bigs are the go to lineup.

I think the three guards shouldn't average more than 30-32 minutes throughout the year. Big games and tournament can differ. The amount of energy they exert while on court is significant. I don't think it is good to have your guards playing 35+ on a regular basis throughout the year.

I think we need to start the 3 guards together to get off to better starts. Too many times we let teams get leads and then have to fight to catch up. Start your four double digit scorers and come out swinging.

The first 10 minutes of the game Saturday was horrible for UK and we were down 16-9. I would start IQ and Sestina over EJ. I agree we should start Sestina over EJ. I also like in the OSU game in Vegas how we were setting Sestina up with the 3 point shot and he hit 5/8 from 3. I also like Sestina's hook shot, great FT Shooter, and is always hustling just like Travis last year. I would start Hagans or Maxey at PG and IQ, Sestina, and Richards. Then have EJ and the other guard off the bench. I would also like to see 6'6 Dontaie Allen get on the court and see what he can do for us at the wing position. In his 13 games he played in his senior season he was scoring 43 points and 14 rebounds a game. Allen had 6 games over 50 points and was shooting 58% FG and 40% from 3 before his Injury in his senior season. I would love to see what he could bring to our shooting and playing the wing position at 6'6.

This team needs to get the offense going.. and that means Quickly AND Sestina need to get as much burn as possible.

If Hagans and Juzang are both out, we only have Maxey and Quickley. So either they start or we play Whitney and Brooks with Maxey, EJ, and Richards. Yuck.
