Question Regarding the Bowl Streak

Being stuck with the SEC West schedule already has us playing the real-est teams there are. I'm not interested in playing Oregon.

The Belk Bowl with Dak was one of my favorite family experiences as a State fan, second only to taking my dad and son to the recent CWS. It was a fun game in a fun town, nice after-Christmas getaway for us all. I wouldn't want to have missed that because we'd narrowly lost to Michigan State in September.

I've had some great times and memories at bowl games. They get more and more worthless every year and that trend is not going to stop. I'm glad a 12 team playoff is coming, but I'm disappointed it's not 16 or even a 24 team playoff.

You perceive them as 'worthless' because there have been 11 in a row. I'm guessing that's somewhere between 1/2 and 1/4 of your life.

You gotta learn to appreciate the moment while you're in it, man. We're in the moment right now, going back to Mullen's second year, the most successful run in Mississippi State football history. One day this moment will end and you'll look back and think "man, we were good in the 2010's. I wish I had watched them more."

Very few if any actually. Bowl games are just not exciting anymore since outside 4 or 5 they are meaningless anyway

I like watching an extra football game. But we went to a bowl at 5-7. We went to one last year after winning, what, 3 games? It's not that hard to make a bowl game these days. Stay off probation and win 5-6 games.

I wouldn't trade a regular season game vs Wisconsin for a bowl game against Miami of Ohio or Tulsa.

Bowl season is another season of football.

Man, we had just shellacked Ole Miss 55-20. That was a feeling we weren't ready to let go of. We were the happiest 5-7 fanbase in the country after that Egg Bowl.

It's not that hard to make a bowl game these days. Stay off probation and win 5-6 games.

Tell that to the 122 FBS programs with a shorter bowl streak.

The last thing on my mind when Oregon, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech were running up and down the field on us was "boy I sure am glad we are playing these guys instead of someone easier".

Yeah it was totally just the fault of that hard schedule when the 02-03 Jackie teams and all of Croom’s teams got dominated like that. Couldn’t have been that we just sucked *** for 8 years and it wouldn’t have mattered who we played in those games. Would Tulane, Houston, Maine, or UAB been more favorable to schedule instead of those big names?

With the news that Bama skill position players will make at least 7 figures each, all we can do really is keep the bowl streak alive and hope something changes in future to level the playing field. Plus I really enjoy the bowl trips, you can make nice mini-vacation out of any of the destinations, regardless of the game itself.

For many of those years you are correct, but we did have a couple of decent teams that got boat raced by difficult non-conference opponents. We were an 8-5 team when West Virginia obliterated us in Morgantown in 2007. And our schedule probably kept us out of a bowl game in 2009, we went 5-7 with losses to the ACC Champ Georgia Tech and a close loss to Case Keenum’s Houston. This was on top of maybe our toughest league schedule in school history. Replace Georgia Tech and Houston with Memphis and UAB and that season is viewed totally different.

In the other post that was exactly like this I requested you show me a tougher schedule played by another team. Any team. We are in the SEC West. Nobody faces the competition we face. Not Ohio State, not Clemson, not Michigan, nobody
