They team looked a bit out of sync when he was in. I’m surprised how much he was in the game at critical times and 0-5 shooting was really rough. But we NEED him for sure, but just thinking he was forced in a bit much, imho...
He was a beast on defense in the early going when he got in there. I think the shots that he took were good looks. He was definitely rusty though. to his credit, he stopped looking for his shot after 5th miss attempt. He will get there. They team looked a bit out of sync when he was in. I agree he did play very good defense when he was in maybe he played a few too many minutes in the first half. I am sure his shot was probably more nerves than anything as I am sure he has been shooting plenty but he just needs the game action but he now gives us another option on both defense and offenseHe was a beast on defense in the early going when he got in there. The one big thing that I noticed about him is that he does not look like a skinney wisp of a kid anymore. He has been putting in the work in the weight room.
I thought he shot too much. And his time away from actual game play was obvious. I'm glad he's back even though I didn't think he would make it back. But he can't expect to come in there and just hit shots like he's used to.They team looked a bit out of sync when he was in. He is one of our best FT shooters. That's why he shouldn't have settled for jump shots. He should have driven the ball to get fouled. He is Rutgers best foul shooter and his size and ball handling are assets.Hopefully,Caleb will continue to get minutes because he has a nice jump shot.
No. He played 11 minutes. Mostly in the first half. Outside of his 0-5 shooting he made a couple nice plays.
Young was indeed pretty bad at the start of last season. I think it would have been hard to predict how good he has gotten. Given that he was already a seasoned player at the start of last season, most kids don't make jumps that big that late in their careers. That he made such an awesome jump is a testament to JY's determination and to the coaching staff. They really know how to get the best out of their players.Looking back in hindsight at his misses, it certainly looks like he hurt the offensive flow. But if any of those shots went down, we'd be singing his praises. Looking back, it's funny to think just how many here crucified JY for playing out of control at the start of last season.
But that said, I also agree it seems McConnell might have seen too many minutes first game back considering those he was taking minutes from.
Mag was available too.Again - there was nobody else really left to put in. We tried not to play the guys with 2 fouls in the first half as much (Paul no and Mathis). MJ sat more in the second half I. Route of his 29 min.
Everyone else besides the frosh quite literally played 32+ minutes and are at various stages of injury recovery (Geo, Harper and Young).
