They team looked a bit out of sync when he was in. I’m surprised how much he was in the game at critical times and 0-5 shooting was really rough. But we NEED him for sure, but just thinking he was forced in a bit much, imho...

He was a beast on defense in the early going when he got in there. I think the shots that he took were good looks. He was definitely rusty though. to his credit, he stopped looking for his shot after 5th miss attempt. He will get there.

The one big thing that I noticed about him is that he does not look like a skinney wisp of a kid anymore. He has been putting in the work in the weight room.

Yeah, I was really surprised Pike left him in as long as he did. He hadn't played in a game in almost 10 months. Odd time to give him a ton of minutes when the guys who were playing were performing well.

I agree he did play very good defense when he was in maybe he played a few too many minutes in the first half. I am sure his shot was probably more nerves than anything as I am sure he has been shooting plenty but he just needs the game action but he now gives us another option on both defense and offense

I am in the minority here. I know he has had a layoff but remember how streaky Caleb is offensively, if one of those 5 shots falls the kid may go on a run from past experience. He was also playing solid defense at the time.

I have no problem with his play time and I was glad to see him on the court. It will take him some time to be effective just likes it’s taken Geo. Similarly, we saw a somewhat tentative Harper yesterday and he was only out one game.

No he was fine. He made one stupid play with a running jumper. Otherwise he was fine. Will be an added boost in 2 more weeks

I thought he shot too much. And his time away from actual game play was obvious. I'm glad he's back even though I didn't think he would make it back. But he can't expect to come in there and just hit shots like he's used to.

He is Rutgers best foul shooter and his size and ball handling are assets.Hopefully,Caleb will continue to get minutes because he has a nice jump shot.

He is one of our best FT shooters. That's why he shouldn't have settled for jump shots. He should have driven the ball to get fouled.

All of his shots looked good, 3 of them were halfway down and around the world came out. First game back. He will be big for us

Looking back in hindsight at his misses, it certainly looks like he hurt the offensive flow. But if any of those shots went down, we'd be singing his praises. Looking back, it's funny to think just how many here crucified JY for playing out of control at the start of last season.

But that said, I also agree it seems McConnell might have seen too many minutes first game back considering those he was taking minutes from.

You guys realize Paul had 2 fouls at the 11:23 mark of the first half right??? He ended with 4 fouls and that’s why he only played 20 minutes. Mathis also had 2 first half fouls -played 30 mins. Also ended with 4 fouls. Young and Harper nursing injuries playing 33+ mins. All the starters excep MJ played in the 30s and MJ mostly sat in favor of Rieber in the second half. He played 29. Who should’ve played in his place?

Anyone that thought he was good defensively was watching a different game then me.

he was rusty. Twice he didn’t get out on a shooter that led to an open 3 made. He was also beat easily off the dribble a few times.

when healthy and in shape his length is definitely an asset and he has shown a willingness defend.

While this loss was tough to swallow, and Caleb did not play well, the minutes he played and the future minutes he will get will be very important to the team going forward. Were going to need him the rest of the way.

His shooting was slightly off, but his defense was mostly pretty good. Only way he loses the rust is to get time in games. As someone above said, it's better to get him working off the rust now so he's at his best to help out with more games as needed.

Young was indeed pretty bad at the start of last season. I think it would have been hard to predict how good he has gotten. Given that he was already a seasoned player at the start of last season, most kids don't make jumps that big that late in their careers. That he made such an awesome jump is a testament to JY's determination and to the coaching staff. They really know how to get the best out of their players.

Again - there was nobody else really left to put in. We tried not to play the guys with 2 fouls in the first half as much (Paul no and Mathis). MJ sat more in the second half I. Route of his 29 min.

Everyone else besides the frosh quite literally played 32+ minutes and are at various stages of injury recovery (Geo, Harper and Young).
