YoutubeTV. i cut the spectrum cable and saved $130/month.

That is what I am wanting to do. Ditch Spectrum and get YouTube TV.

I am not very technical. Questions:

Is it a pain getting YouTube TV up and running? How do you install it?

I am thinking I will just cancel my Spectrum cable pkg and then just get a high speed internet service from them to support the YouTube TV.

Also, I only have 1 "Smart" TV. Will I be able to watch it on my other TVs(which are not old, and are flat screen, etc Samsung and LG tvs....just not ""Smart").

Finally....from what I read for the $50 a month You Tube TV gives you 6 "Family" accounts, right? So can I include my kids and give them access for that $50 even though they live elsewhere in the same city?

You will probably need a Roku or Firestick for each TV you want to watch on, but again, those pay for themselves in the first month (and if you have a tech savvy friend who can work some magic, you'll have every movie ever made for free, but that's illegal and no one would ever do such a thing). But yes, other people with a firestick or roku can log in to your account from anywhere and watch.

When you plug the Roku or Firestick into your HDMI port (on the back/side of the TV usually) it'll display on your TV screen (you may have to select HDMI1, 2, etc on your remote until you find it the first time).

From there, you'll just scroll down and find the Youtube TV app (or Hulu or whatever, it's really easy to navigate through the icons) and download it by selecting it. Then you just log in to whatever you decided to use and you're good to go.

Some of them will ask you questions or to give them certain shows you like so that it can build a suggestions area for you and recommend shows and movies you may like, but you can skip that if you want.

You might want to sign-up for the streaming service of your choice online, just because typing in your email address and password can be tedious using a remote control. After that, it's really intuitive and simple to figure out how to navigate channels, set recordings, etc.

Plus, it's such a common method now that there are tons of great tutorials for anything you might need help with.

Pretty much plug and play if using roku like me ($35-$40 each, but one time cost). no roku needed if you have a smart tv. amazon firestick works now also. each tv must be smart tv or roku etc.
You can watch different programming on each tv simultaneously, and yes, i believe up to six accounts for single fee. pretty sure your kids can use even if at different location.
I had spectrum bundled service-tv, phone, internet. i discontinued the tv and phone and kept the 200mps wifi internet - $70/mo starting two months ago, but increased $4 this month—damned spectrum—but best internet for the price in my area.
Overall very satisfied so far, no glitches, picture freeze etc. channel surfing not quite as easy. love the unlimited dvr storage. no contract.

We went full Hulu experience and have really enjoyed it as compared to our previous Dish. We also have Netflix and Amazon Prime.

We added Philo for awhile, but never really watched those channels and cancelled.

Probably have to add the new Disney+ soon.

Gonzo gave very good instructions.

I use the Roku Ultra and have had very little lag, with Spectrum.
29.6 mbps download and 4.6 upload, that’s an older internet service.

I’d go YoutubeTV if I could. I live in a rural area and our only internet option is windstream. They are poop
Yeah, Windstream and Hughes Net is about the only thing available here. Would love it if there were more options. We need a good ISP badly.

Currently, we get a decent rate with DirecTV, around $74 a month. Locked in at that for about 14 more months. The wife is happy with it, but she wants to get wifi. We'll probably end up going with Windstream, but would rather try a different option. Would be nice if one popped up.

Hey Folks - Anyone using a surefire streaming service where you've been able to cut the cable BUT still see all the UK games?

Any suggestions appreciated.

NOT asking for a friend....... just tired of the cable price going up every few months.
Get a firestick for around $40 and you can get everything..live TV, movies and sports

Yep, cool feature. I have mine set to record all Kentucky basketball and Kentucky football games.
Me too.

YTTV is awesome. If you go to the home page you can click on the football icon on Saturdays and it will line up all the games so you can click back and forth between the games during commercials. Cool feature. Another cool feature that you may not know about is to download the YTTV app on your phone, click on your profile, click on settings, click on live guide and from there you can delete channels you don't want to scroll through and also arrange the channels in the order you want. So I group all my news channels together, sports channels together, etc. Makes it easier to get to what you want quicker.

PS, wait til Black Friday and you can get a Fire Stick 4K for $25 (roughly half price).

I use YouTube tv and love it, tried Hulu TV for a while and didn’t like it as much. Lots of ads and they just increased the price $10/month.

I pay $130 for internet and cable. I can’t see how you guys are saving all this money by paying about $50 for sling or YoutubeTV, and then somewhere around $70 for good internet right?

I was paying that for internet anyway, though. Even when I had Directv I was still paying for high speed internet. Not like I signed up for high speed internet just so I could stream my tv.

Plus one for YouTubeTV. We have 3 AppleTV's...which is probably overkill.

I tried AT&T Now for a couple of months, but it under-performed when bandwidth was limited. YouTubeTV is also about $20 cheaper and rarely lags. We still supplement with NetFlix and Amazon Prime TV...because regular TV sucks for the most part. We essentially use it for sports and news.

If you have broadband internet available...you have to be mad at your money if you still have a Satellite\Cable Provider.

Our spectrum bill with cable was nearly $170/ month. I’m not sure why because we didn’t have any special channels or DVR or anything. So now we pay about $125/month with YouTube tv and high speed internet from Spectrum. If you’re only pay $130/month for internet and cable, id say you’re doing pretty well!

Another question. Do you need a firestick or roku for each tv in the house or does one work with all tvs?
If you're using multiple TV's be aware of the device limit on each service. Youtube TV allows you to use 3 at the same time, Hulu Live allows 2, I think Sling is only 1.

I pay $50 for ATT fiber internet and $50 for YTTV. If you’re paying 130, wouldn’t save you a bundle but it’s still a few hundred bucks a year.

Playstation Vue for those using it is about to be obsolete by Sony.

I have had Vue for years, never had any issues. I'm looking at the different options but I can tell you for certain it wont be traditional cable box, especially from Cox. I miss Comcast compared to Cox.

For the OP, if your gonna get online streaming tv like YouTube or HULU, I'd recommend checking your internet package and see how much data your allowed. Ours is 1 terabyte a month unless we pay a little more. If you have kids that plan to leave the tv on 24x7 whether they are watching or not then you could possibly exceed how much your allowed without paying more.

The regular Fire Stick is $20 on Black Friday at a bunch of stores (for those who don't need 4K). I getting a couple for spare bedrooms. Already have 5 Rokus so thought I'd try the Amazon.

I don't have a smart TV yet, but I use Apple 4KTV and get YouTubeTV through it. I am upgrading to a 4KTV for Christmas, but I have been using YTTV since August and told DirectTV thanks but no thanks. Never looked back. I am 67 and if I can figure it out anyone can.

YouTube TV best I have used. 49.99 a month. You won’t miss any Cat’s games and will get all the local channels still. Can’t beat it! Saved $100 month from Directv

I have tried Sling, YouTube TV, Direct TV Now and I think 1 other and YouTube TV is my favorite. It has unlimited DVR, Will record all of a game if it goes past the expected time and once you select UK Basketball it will automatically record every game that comes on so you don't have to worry about accidently forgetting to set a timer if you are going to be gone during a game.

Like others are suggesting, go to watching the games on youtubetv. I've never had a problem with it. Now, if the cost continues to go up, I'll ditch that.

My main reason for not staying with Sling is the channel line up. There were channels on both the blue and orange packages that we watched and wanted so to get both I had to do the joint package. By the time I added DVR it was as high as YouTube TV with less features. Just FYI if you decide to go with Sling if memory serves me correct you cannot record any ESPN or SEC Network stuff so no recording most of UK games.

Thanks Creed. This sounds like the right way to go when Direct TV goes up as I know they will.

I am not sure a company values new customers more than existing customers like Direct TV or Dish Network does. They will offer new customers the moon and keep sticking it to the ones they have with price hike after price hike.
