That would work but if you want to insert Knox and take out Vanderbilt I guess I could live with that.
He's not even a consensus top 10 guy in a weak class. How he manages to squeeze into next summer's first round is going to be a mystery if he pulls it off. I understand the idea of the elite athlete at 6'5", but Goodwin barely squeezed in with a similar skillset, and that was after one full year in college in a historically weak draft. I still think he plays college ball somewhere but wouldn't be surprised if he jumps overseas ala Mudiay.

Does UK need a legit small forward to win a national title? No, but it should be noted that the ’96 and ’12 teams both featured a future top 6 draft pick at the small forward position. Knox’s skillset is unique. I think he will end up being one of the top 3 players in this class when it’s all said and done.
Also, it would be great to get the small forward thing off UK’s back. Having guys you can point to at particular positions is a powerful tool on the recruiting trail. UK is lacking at the small forward position in recent years, and it would be great to change the trend.

I'd rather have Green than Young because he'd bring recruits with him, not that it's either/or, we could get both. A guy on the Cuse board is saying Green has sent in his LOI and it's Cuse, hope he's fos.
Made the mistake of going to their board.. Talking about how they know Cal called Jones and made him switch from Washington to Kentucky.. Acting like syracuse isn't an absolute crap hole..

About this, could it be that we miss on a lot of these guys who are true scoring 3s, because Cal likes the "positionless" style and they are afraid he will play them at the 4 or 2 and they want to just focus on the position they will play in the pros?
The kid's Twitter is pure Syracuse. With the local connections and how long they've been recruiting him, I doubt he has the stones to commit anywhere else. Hope I'm wrong, though. Landing him would send this recruiting cycle into overdrive.
So. Maybe he saw UK last night decided that it wasn't a right fit for him and is going to go ahead and commit to SU

Why is it way less likely? The kid has been re-tweeting Syracuse stuff all week, including just a few hours ago. It's quite possible Green thinks UK's lights are a shade too bright, or is simply just more comfortable at Syracuse.
Maybe he doesn't see himself as a OAD, and is worried about being recruited over his sophomore year. There's a dozen reasons this kid might have felt more confident about committing to Syracuse after watching the UK game. Most of them might simply deal with comfort level.
This is another way it could go but if you just take the events of the last 24 hours it is impossible to not think UK has a chance. I have no idea if I think Green ends up here but if the coach has any line into what he will do and wasn't blowing smoke up out butt then it looks like he just might. Also very few top 20ish recruits don't think they are elite and 1 or 2 and done . He could be a dumbass ( to not see what Cal does with guards and be ultra impressed) . But if you aren't feeling at least decently about UK's chances then you are just one of the guys like Fisherblue or Zaytonven on here that just thrive on negativity . But it does all come down to if what his coach said this morning is true . If it is he will be a Cat IMO . If it isn't and he went to the game just to use the ticket and lead Cal on then he is Cuse bound and that is alright as well. UK always gets a top 2 class.

I don’t think it’s negative to posit a very real possible scenario. I also am taking his coaches statement with a grain of salt. It seemed like it was too leading, too clearly indicative of a UK switch, and I don’t think his coach is foolish enough to throw something like that out there and steal the kid’s moment.
Seems like a way to rouse some interest in Saturday’s big moment, and lock-in some media and national fan attention.
Hope I’m wrong, but I’m not completely buying the comments were said from a completely pure place. That said, I’ll be watching Saturday and hoping, just like the rest of you guys.
Between Randolphdaltonfan, Slater, and the poster on the cuse site who is a marine and well trusted. I think the LOI is in the hands of Syracuse.

I think this is exactly what's happening. Cal's elevated the excitement of recruiting at Kentucky (because we actually get good players now), and so I follow it more, and I've noticed a lot of this behavior. Everybody involved in the process has an incentive to try to add intrigue and a "will he/won't he" dimension to their recruiting process. Plenty of it is manufactured. And judging by the kid's Twitter and Crystal Ball predictions, I'm pretty sure it's being manufactured here. Hope like hell I'm wrong, because by all indications this would be the coup of the recruiting cycle, and would lead to great things for us.
Just read the Syracuse forum link. Pretty funny stuff. Who knew UK had to cheat to get every great recruit that we've signed out from under another school? One of my favorite posts might have been the guy throwing shade on the state of Kentucky and how awful it apparently is. I went to the NCAA regionals in Syracuse the Wall/Cousins year...................he needs to refrain from typing.

They're just insecure at this point. I would be too if I cheered for a program that is about to go the way of the dinosaur once Boeheim retires.

2. Opened his eyes to how he could invision himself at uk. He's only 6"0. JUst like briscoe he comes from the same territory as green does. Cal is one of the few that can get a guy 6"0 or less to the NBA in yr or two

Actually Jones called Cal right after he committed to UDub crying saying he thinks he made the wrong decision. Cals only response was "you know what to do". Cal was in a limo on his way to Louisville for the Derby and the woman who told me that story was in the limo with him since she's married to one of Cals closest UK pals.

Jim Boeheim is the biggest POS in college basketball. It's not close.
This is a guy who sandbags his own players when asked about their NBA prospects. A guy who doesn't even communicate with his players about the possibility of turning pro. And even when they succeed, like Michael Carter-Williams, he still hedges and acts like they should've stuck around to earn him more money. Just read some of these comments from 2014:
On advising players about the draft:
You know, I don't talk to players anymore. They make up their mind and they go. You know, it's really, there, it used to be you wanted to go in the top six, eight picks. Now, players just wanna go. First-round pick.
The disappointing part is, NBA teams really don't even want the draft picks after the first 15 (picks). They would rather trade them. Give 'em away, whatever. Because they don't want that guy, they've got too many guys and don't want to give that guy guaranteed money. So, you'll find a lot of NBA teams trade those picks.
On former Syracuse player Michael Carter-Williams winning ROY:
Michael Carter-Williams got a humongous opportunity (with the Philadelphia 76ers) because Philadelphia traded their point guard. He got to play. That is unusual. Most of those teams, the point guards are pretty set. You are looking at coming in and being a back up. It's a question of how much will I get to play. Am I going to get better that way? Is that going to be good for me? And there is no way to know the answer to that.
I think if Michael Carter-Williams had gone to a little bit better of a team, he might have been playing in the D-League. Instead, he's the rookie of the year. Where you go, where you come out in the draft is everything. You just don't know where that is going to be.
Jim Boeheim makes millions of dollars a year to coach college basketball, yet he has the audacity to lecture his own players about wanting to be compensated for making his success possible. He's a fraud.
I truly feel sorry for the guys who are a part of Syracuse's program. They deserve to have a coach and mentor who actually cares about them as men. Jim Boeheim only cares about what they can do for him. It's pitiful, and it's long past time for him and others like him to hang it up.
