I don't see any reason why or how it is harder in 2019/2020 than it was 17 years ago when I graduated.

Hell, technology alone HAS to make school easier....

To the 2019 grad....try living in the former cell block that I lived in first year, waking up at 4am to go work at KLair (so I could give Dusty Bonner and Anthony White extra candy bars to deplete their expense account), going straight to class, HAVING to go to the library or a lab to access internet or a computer, write a paper or do research.

Now having said that, insert a comment from a 1975 grad so my response can sound foolish :joy:

Just saying, everything is easier to do now than it was 20, 30, 50 or 70 years ago. Doesn't mean it is better, I personally miss the simpler times...

GP, it all boils down to the "Want to"...

You HAVE to want it.

To expound on my initial comments...I'm not saying you don't have to be smart to finish college, but having a strong work ethic and being strategic is more important than the degree you earn. It is what you do after you get the degree in hand that takes you the furthest.

I have what most would consider to be a basic degree from UK....I'm doing just fine with it.

My BFF (ha) is a freaking genius...he gets the best of both worlds.

I'm also about as self deprecating as possible, just fyi.

Don't do that too often though. Especially in public...(Unless in California, then it's a protected class/ action.)

He was born deaf and has learning disabilities related to those issues, but go ahead and get your petty jokes off for the likes.

The kid transferred because he wasn't going to play here and left on good terms. We're better than that. Or we should be.
He was born with hearing problems (80% deaf) and got auditory implants to correct it at a very early age. Sure he still stuttered through middle school but he learned like anyone else. Stuttering doesn’t impair one’s ability to learn. Nice try to disregard him not making passing grades though. Student athletes are academically ineligible all the time, it happens. But don’t try and say that is the reason why.

I can absolutely guarantee you he didn't learn just like anyone else, even with the implants. The way speech and comprehension develop at an incredibly early age is formative to learning well beyond that.

Just unsure what is funny about is all

“Take it from a 2019 graduate” is what was funny, as if there aren’t plenty of college graduates here who know exactly how hard it is (or isn’t) to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree. Unless you’re somehow saying it’s harder in 2019 than, say, 2002.

I heard (maybe read on this board) that one reason guys leave UK after 2 years is because the courses they take get much tougher.

eh I am not sure about that. The first two years you are doing what they used to call university studies (e.g. basic english, math, humanities, etc.). Then after that you start to get more into classes related to your major. Even then if you are in a social science, communictions, etc. those 300 level courses are not crazy. I don't doubt that it is a challenge to manage time for study and playing ball but then again i never had a tutor to help keep me on track so i say it is a wash...

2003 grad here, someone tell me how hard it was for me.

no air conditioning, no smart phones, usually no cell phones, only mad mushroom delivered to the dorms, and Dave Matthews Band blared from every window and quad guitar douche. Miracle I came out alive.

I guarantee there was some goldeneye thrown in there, too.

Either:

Insanely smart
Family connections
Really Hard worker
Extremely lucky
Some combination

90% of people are basically similar intelligence with a small part being either really smart or really dumb so hard work is far more important. One of our buddies that was very average intelligence wise is a freakin spine surgeon now.
People skills and hard work and you’re pretty much guaranteed to do well - such as your ***.

Quade should consider transferring to UNC. I hear they have some really easy classes there.

The thing is....it's not unless you are in a specialty area field such as physician, physicist, scientist, biochemist, or a brain surgeon unlike Jethro the Bodine, or enrolled at unc in any of the above...or anything else...

The coursework he’s doing shouldn’t be hard at all. Only when you get into the degree portion is it tough.
