Serious question, have we ever won a game where Purdy has played significant time? Serious question…
Serious question, who looked better, Purdy and his one pick on the last play of the game or Haarberg and the many picks and almost picks he has thrown this year?

I honestly do not understand how some on this board, after all the TOs by Haarberg, continue to say he is the better QB after what we saw out of Purdy last week.

This is not me frapping on a Nebraska kid as Kong will undoubtedly claim, this is me looking at both players’ play on the field objectively. What am I missing THIS YEAR that tells you Purdy sucks?

You can’t answer my question because you know the answer. I don’t think you’re frapping, I think you’re a coward and you just proved it by not answering a simple question. As they say, when you can’t answer the question you were asked honestly, flip to the question you wish you were asked. I can’t respect that.

But I’m no coward, so I’ll answer yours. Both QBs have looked like dog ****. Both. but the tie breaker goes to the one that actually has won a game… winning to me is what matters and until Chubba proves he can do that, he just can’t win. I know a lot of people from AZ HS football and they tell me the same thing, he was way better than his brother in HS and is playing scared in college.

So many people keep thinking guys that lose over and over again are going to flip a switch and start winning. It generally doesn’t happen that way in anything. But I hope Chubba proves me wrong. I’m not spiteful like some that were critical of HH when he was winning

I didn’t answer your question because everyone knows the answer. You really didn’t think I needed to tell you, did you? And I guess we will agree to disagree. Purdy looked light years better than HH has these last several games. Take the blinders off. The only time HH looked decent was when teams didn’t know what to prepare for. Once they figured him out, he’s looked atrocious. That said, Purdy can complete a forward pass. That’s what separates him from HH. We’ll see it on Friday as well. But keep your hating. It’s a good look on you.

only took 2 drives for wisc to figure purdy out.

on Friday we will not be better than our opponent at a single position both on the field and on the sideline, their lameduck OC included.

there's no leg to stand on yet for the purdy lovers.

we just got rid of an all stats, no wins QB & staff, yet here you dick riders are, eager for more.

I'm not surprised. most of you don't know what you're watching in the first place.

That's right. You're the great talent evaluator. Am I right "Cam Taylor Britt will never play in the NFL guy"?

Frankly, unless he was more injured than we thought, I have no idea why Purdy has not been our starter all year. He has looked the best of any of our QB's, if you can even call Sims a QB.

I really, really hope we find a way to beat Iowa this Friday and make it to a bowl game. But we need to play lockdown, hair-on-fire, pull out all the stops defense. Iowa has a terrible offense. If our defense rises to the occasion we can limit them to under 10 points. And we will need to since I do not see our offense scoring more than 10 points. We need our defense to get some turnovers and give our offense a short field and give Alvano a chance to win it for us.

I am pessimistic however, for one big reason. Our punter. In a defensive game where the battle for field position will be key we cannot afford any more 30 yard punts. There will most certainly be a lot of punts in this game. Therefore, the punter and place kickers will be the key to this game. Alvano cannot be "off" and Buschini has to rediscover the concept of CONSISTENCY.

Man, how bad has the punting been this year....smh....you almost forget about it because it is taken for granted

HH’s passing limitations result in a lower ceiling for both him and his team. That is a fact, unless you have a 90’s NU quality running infrastructure in place and humming. Which we do not, and will not in the foreseeable future.

HH’s early success of 5 wins came had a lot to do with poor competition and unaware defenses playing more balanced against run vs pass. He was also initially better with ball security. As teams tilted to heavily defend the run, his ball security waned and we lost a couple very winnable games.

Purdy has a higher ceiling because he can pass well enough to keep defenses from selling out against the run. But I would agree that Purdy and HH have the same floor.

Well said, not sure why some aren’t able to see this.

Now maybe this Friday Purdy looks awful and turns it over 4 times. I’ll eat crow. But what we saw last Saturday was the best we’ve seen this year out of the QB position.

Or we could start Haarberg, turn it over four times and lose by 15. What would you prefer?
i would hate that, and never want him to start another game in all likelihood.

i'm not tribal with the QBs like a lot on this board.

i don't have the statistics in front of me, but i would venture to guess that HH did a better job at securing first downs in the second half than the other 2 QBs. it can't be stated how important that is in this conference where jumping out to a lead and playing keep away is what wins games.

But by all means keep sucking off HH. He's the best QB in Nebraska history!!😂
nobody has said that, and you know it. you're starting to realize that your point is kinda weak

Even if he doesn’t look great, I don’t think you eliminate him. He’s shown he can run and pass accurately. Iowa’s D will present probably our stiffest challenge other than maybe Michigan’s. He’s not played enough to judge IMO. Decision making is my biggest concern for an inexperienced QB and he hasn’t played enough to expect him to be great in that regard. BOTH he and Haarberg can improve

you shouldn't have to eat crow, thats the thing. if Purdy wins the game i'll be stoked for him and his potential future as a starter.

it was alarming to me that after the first two drives, his productivity disappeared. mostly because it was eerily reminiscent of the Frost days. jump out to an early lead, let the opposing team creep back in, then one mad dash for the win at the end with about a 10% success rate.

there was a certain comfort in October when we were winning like a B1G team by controlling the clock and gaining field position. loved what we saw from Purdy early, but it feels like we're praying for a big play or its 3 & out under him. that's a much more shakey, unsustainable type of play that we already tried the past 6 years.

No matter who our QB is, this offense is not going to move the ball with any consistency against this excellent Iowa defense. We need to focus on playing great defense and special teams ourselves and to not turn the damn ball over or commit dumb penalties. This game will be won with defense and special teams. Iowa has the advantage in both of those areas. But not by much. And the game is at home. We beat these turds last year. Let's do it again.

I hated that the crappy camera coverage didn’t allow us to see what the WRs and secondary were doing. I don’t have a feel for if he had open guys he was missing.

He was never secure with the ball. He put the ball on the carpet alot and threw the ball right to the defenders, but was lucky they weren't converted to TOs by the defense. The luck finally ran out and the defenses started converting.

most replays it looked like he made one read then rolled out. i wasn't super inspired by his scrambles that didn't have 1st down intentions, but i suppose its better than turning the ball over.

And I think from Satt’s and Rhule’s press interviews that’s what they want him to do. It looked like on that 3rd down fade route and the end of regulation that Coleman broke open under the goal post IF he had held the ball a tick longer.

That’s a fair point, but we did continue to move the ball even after the first two scores. I can’t put my finger on it, but it was frustrating watching the team move the ball with some success and then get stuffed on a reverse/reverse backwards pass trick play/deep handoff when only a yard was needed/false start penalty. I’d felt like there were many reasons we couldn’t put together a drive that didn’t result in points (not to mention the missed field goal at the end of the half).

As much as I want to think Satterfield can get it done, stuff like this seems to pop up far too often.

i agree with that, and it makes me wonder what they see in practice that makes them want to completely shift the scheme under Purdy. he looks to have the wheels to make plays with his feet, but maybe they don't trust his ability to read open lanes

the inability to establish a medium passing game has really hamstrung this offense, and i just don't believe that Fidone/Coleman don't get open at least 50% of the time

kid's hurt

covering all the warts on this team to lead it to the only wins of the season took a toll
So does Purdy get a pass for losing considering he was hurt and played despite reportedly needing surgery?

Stats-wise he had the best game of the season for a Husker QB, despite being hurt.

Does he get a pass?
