Spring Practice ought to be fun, except for the fact they probably wont run a single play that they will this fall. Nobody knows what kind of offense we will be running. To be honest I don't care. I only care about winning. .

Congrats to these coaches, I never thought they would be able to get this many 4 star recruits to come. Good job
So, you risk not implementing your system and teaching your players just to protect something that the entire world has already seen under Whips?

You work to get the timing and nomenclature down. Teams will figure out everything quickly enough.

Open competition.
Even if just for backup QB alone. I too don't see any way anybody wins the job over Thompson. But it should absolutely be an open competition with no favorites whatsoever. Let the competition speak for itself for once.

Anyway, a worry backup QB is worth it's weight in gold this day and age centered around the QB. Thompson goes down something like that thumb again, I expect to see that QB come in and at least execute the base offense at a fairly high level. I think we can now!

Recruiting more than one quarterback and having them compete for the starting job, what a concept. Haven't had that since 1998.

Yep. Thinking “hiding” plays is a wise idea is silly. This isn’t some new revolutionary offense coming in. Start getting reps. We miss too many by losing out on bowl practices as it is.

I think we should have one QB on the roster that can execute the offense, and run him all over the place.

Shouldn't be a problem.

How does Casey Thompson feel about this?
The reports I heard before he committed and after Adrian left was that all the QBs on scholarship were told they were going to try to get 2 QBs in the portal to increase competition and that they were fine with it.

Let’s hope it’s money will spent. Like I said in another thread, I hope we stop asking donors for money for things like building projects and start asking for that money in NIL to get players.
Why not both?

And if we win there will be more than enough money.

they say when the big 10 contract is up in 23...it could go from 57 million to 100...
3/4th of the stadium is done (except for proper seating)...and the athletic facilities are upgraded for quite a while.
NU Football makes bout 80 million a year, with 20 million materials/labor, so 60 million in the black, per year...

so I see money going to nil....cause all the above wasn't done for 3-9.
I remember hassling 0u fans for 3-8 in 95...so we have to have hit the bottom, with upside ahead.

Well, I dont think the university can pump money into NIL. What they can do is have the donors pump money in as opposed to donating

That one likely is due to his connection with Whipple. We have a decent pool of QB's for the Spring. Now to see which ones rise to the top and stick for the Fall and which ones transfer out after the pecking order becomes clear.
Oh cmon, Smothers and Haarberg were only ever going to be middling and at best FCS talents. Thompson and Purdy are legitimate QB options
